This is perhaps, Eric's best live recording of this song. I've heard his other live versions, but this particular one is his best, in my view. I first heard this one night whilst down at my dad's house working on some projects for him back in 2003. I had Direc TV's AOR music channel playing in the background and this version came on. Surprisingly, I had checked out the 24 Nights CD from my local public library back in 1993, but because I was working so much in the fast food management job that I had at the time, I really didn't have a chance to sit down and listen to it, and had to return it at the due date, so I didn't get to hear this version then. Glad I get to hear it again now. Thanks for uploading.
@@steffenbrixdude seriously, when I saw they pulled this off streaming services, then it was left off the reissue, I was pretty mad! Just found the double CD of this version, so I can load it up on the iPhone. Gotta have this version of Badge, man!
Sin duda alguna es la mejor interpretación de Badge en directo. El pianista es una metralleta que dota a la canción de una vitalidad brutal. Es que las 24 noches para mi es de lo mejor que ha grabado Clapton. Dios.
This is one of the albums (along with Moving Pictures by Rush, Rocket to Russia by the Ramones, and The Sky is Crying by SRV) that I learned to play guitar from. I tried like hell to copy Clapton's staccato, rapid-fire solo style. Still gives me goosebumps.
THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF BADGE EVER ! AMAZING. PIANO WITH JOHNNIE JOHNSON ********* JUST WATCH 4:46-5:41 WHO PLAYS PIANO WHILE BLOOD RUNS FROM HIS NOSE AND AT THE END OF THE SONG FALLS unconscious !!! INCREDIBLE BUT TRUE.
Agreed. According to the album credits it's Greg Phillinganes. Johnny Johnson is a blues player and would really be suited to this. Johnson plays on the blues section of the 24 nights album, but this is the four-piece, with with Nathan East on bass and Steve Ferrone on drums. I went to a blues night during this concert series and the concert program says the same.
@@prathameshbhambure They do have it. It's on the old VHS and DVD versions. Perhaps Eric wasn't happy with it? edit: Actually, it's not on those! I checked. Weird. I somehow remember "Badge" being on there. Well, then I guess you're right. Perhaps they never filmed it? What a shame!
@@prathameshbhambure No, no, I added an edit to my previous comment. You were right. "Badge" has never been on any release. They may have filmed it, but perhaps due to rights issues, it hasn't actually appeared with the rest of the songs on video.
Oh you have no idea. I've attended concerts where people in their 50's and 60's, I'm in my 40's, carry on full conversations as if the friends they're sitting with haven't seen the people in years. And they have these full, full volume chit chats right in the middle of the damned songs. I paid good money to hear the band, not hear a family reunion in the row directly in front of or behind me.
Welcome to the annual dust up... freakin brilliant,
Eric Clapton was at his best in 24 Nights. Flawless live album.
Disc 2 is off the fucking chain. I dream Katie's voice.
Agree.
I love how it opens with the piano playing the main theme of the song "Glad" by Traffic.

Robbie Stewart best recording period.
VERY much agreed. Best band he ever worked with on stage. Best arrangement. Best performance. And far and away the best engineering.
Yes. This beats all other versions! And why in the world is this omitted on the new 24 Nights release?? Which btw is mixed quite poorly 😢

This is one of my favorite solos from Eric. The first line where he ends on the major third makes it stand out. Great tone as well.

It certainly is an amazing recording where rhytm and clarity are concerned.
Fav version
God sounds so good...
Saludos me gusta el rock
This recording of one of Cream’s last songs was my first exposure to Sir Eric Clapton!

Totally love Phillinganes and his tribute line of "Glad" by Traffic from 0:20
"Slowhand" Forever.
at the royal albert hall 24 nights...never put out for public consumsption.
GOD toca muy bien xDD
Best version of the best Cream song ever made... when Eric Clapton dies... i will die too
I just bought the ass-expensive definitive deluxe edition of this album.......only to discover that "Badge" isn't on it!
WTF???
I'm sure they don't have the footage of this performance. What a shame, really!

He should record and play other George Harrison penned songs like "Your Love Is forever", or 'This Guitar Can't Keep from Crying".
Thank God someone yells shut up at about 1:55
Also around 4:28 what's wrong with today's concert goers?

It’s the annual dust up. Relax, not everyone is there to make bootlegs.
Pretty sure this was recorded in 94
Disappointed in badge bridge. That’s the signature of the song. Popular version rocks it
