yeah, in this one the entire band is into it, guess capturing the Tina Turner spirit, Clapton having written the song with recording it with her in mind

    Very impressive!
Back in 1991, I rode in someone's truck, and he was a big Eric Clapton fan, and he played this song, it was in cassette back then.
I never knew who sang it until recently.
    Eric looks real good here.
I hope he wasn't nervous, being at that location.
    (Like who was watching him).

I had the privilege of seeing him at Sandstone Amphitheater outside of Kansas City. What an amazing concert, it was marred by the tragic passing of SRV and other members of Eric's management in that awful crash. Just two days before, and I was hoping to see him with Eric. Always loved Eric and wish him the best.

80s/early 90s Clapton is severely overlooked. They say his career it a stasis mode in the 90s but Journeyman, and August especially are tremendous albums.

Eric's guitar work is phenomenal on this piece. Anyone who thinks his best days were behind him is totally clueless. His guitar screams! This definitely shows that Eric can "bring it" any time he wants to. I started playing guitar in 1975, and Eric Clapton still amazes me. Such an incredible sound - a Fender twin combined with a Leslie cab.

That night in Alpine Valley I got to witness Clapton, SRV and Robert Cray belt out some amazing music. The best part was watching these three guitar masters looking on in awe at the talent of the others on stage. Truly inspiring!!

Clapton is, obviously, a master guitarist, particularly in the blues, blues-rock, and formative rock and roll style. But I can’t help but feel that at least 10% of his iconic quality- as it probably does with all people on that level- comes from the fact his whole life on camera looks like it’s worthy of a poster.
He looks so fucking cool all the time.

Cannot agree 100%. The footage from the "24 nights" is incredibly cool (take as an example the Bad Love video), but there's plenty of gigs filmed before mid '80s, when he started getting sober, where you can clearly tell that he's totally wasted and barely standing (late '70 footage, especially), nevertheless still playing like a guitar god

@Ace Harris Clapton is a very sexy beautiful man, yes. But he did not always look this polished. He had a perm at the start of the Cream years which made him unrecognizable to what you see here. So make no mistake-the way he plays the hell out of the guitar and sings in his signature raspy powerful soulful voice is WHY he is epic.

Clapton once credited Carl Perkins' vocal influence on his own singing style. "Mr. Blue Suede Shoes" influence shows in this performance.

Clapton plays wicked D minor and F Major Bar Chords.

Look, it's Clapton. We all know he's the GOAT with the six string, but no compliments on his hair on this one?

@GhostShip my bro, you're correct. His contributions to Cream, the yardbirds, movie soundtracks are completely unwarranted. Eric Johnson is a phenom, but Clapton is incredible and marketable. Eric Johnson has a niche arena. Now go back to your room and practice before it gets late and mom tells you to turn your speaker down.

My only "criticism" of this is, please leave more of the audience sounds on at the end... they were ready to EXPLODE, and that's part of the Live experience!!! Thanks for the video!!

That the royal Albert hall crowd. Very respectful to slowhand music. Glad he still plays there all these years. He seems at home there.
