    How did we get here?
After a year of full time travel living the van life, we had to adapt when the world changed. To keep busy we’ve converted our tiny house on wheels into a fully functioning off grid tiny house that has everything we need. Realizing that none of us know how long this new normal will stick around, we made the decision that building a home here was the best decision we could make. We've spent the last year doing EVERYTHING involved with coordinating and planning the build ourselves as well as setting up this off grid property to be able to provide us with the the food we'll need in the future. Hit with constant delays and building price increases, realizing our dream of building our own home has taken longer than anticipated. With travel starting to reopen again, we've learned so much about the importance of having a home base. and are excited to continue our build this dream here while also doing what we love most, exploring and seeing the world!

It’s hard to believe we have just a few projects left before our Geodesic Dome is finished…being honest, it’s been hard to find motivation to do much of anything the last week or so. With winter fully here to stay and the double digit negative temperatures becoming much more normal, all we want to do it snuggle up by the fire, eat snacks and drink wine…just wanted to share that incase you’re reading this feeling the winter blues, you’re not alone. Hope that you have a safe and warm week, can’t wait to see you again next Sunday!

Of all the channels I watch on UA-cam, this one is the one that I just never get tired of. I think it is, no I know it is because Tyler and Todd are so upbeat, even when times are tough. It makes me smile, pretty much the entire way through every video. I have dozens and dozens of channels that I have followed and fell away from, but not this one. I wish I lived close enough to be able to visit you, but Kentucky is a bit of a trip. Keep it up, love your personalities, love the way you edit the videos, and really love the way you make me smile.

Just remember...you two great guys...is that life is a journey...not an end in itself. You have to live a very long time before you get the picture. At 82 and battling prostate cancer for the second time, it gives us a perspective. You two have so much to give to each other and that is the true joy of "togetherness". Never give that up. So, Tyler, here’s hoping that you filled the gaping hole after you got the heat turned on 🤭. Seriously though, I was wondering if the top of the wood stove gets hot enough to cook on? Maybe heat a pot of soup or whatnot, if not full blown cooking. I’m proud y’all got the new stove in and working as it’s way too cold to be cold… (think about that one lol). Keep up the good work, you have a beautiful place in the works and I know you’re thrilled to have electricity available full time now. Best wishes from the Bluegrass State down south.

I may have missed your discussing the "inner" elements of the dome early on; however, your current task and resolution of heating the space raised a question in me about the "insulation resources" for the geodesic dome. I remember your talking about the under-spray foam having a "good 'R-value,' and I assume the floor, too, proves an effective heat/cold transfer barrier. What about the "walls"? How is that accomplished, and how efficiently does that seem to work? The windows are undoubtedly double-paned. What about the skylight? It appears to be clear plastic. Does that allow heat loss?

Build a small house next door and keep the dome as a workspace... that’s not really safe for heavy snow and winds. Love you both and the pets. Very inspiring. Stay warm and safe, God bless.

We made a similar choice not having a stove when we remodeled our kitchen. We had a pellet stove installed and it took up a bit of space We had other appliances to use to cook with, also a BBQ on the deck.. 5+ years later we found a beautiful gas stove and it fit perfectly in our kitchen. With all the cooking going on, I think my husband missed the stove much more than I did! Congrats on the install of the Solar panels, very exciting!

Despite the constant setbacks, the sub-freezing temps, and the awe-shits that go along with all DIY'ers, just take a step back and look at what you two have accomplished. You both need to cut each other some slack and give each other a huge hug along with a gracious I love you too! Some day everything that is important will be finished and you can argue about what to do next. I am beyond proud of you both and I really do believe that you are both proud of the other. My point is simply that now is the time to say it, mean it and do it. Respect.

I'm so happy the woodburning stove install worked out well, I was a bit worried about how close it was to the back wall, and if the piping was good... as my sis and I just did one for my parents home off-grid as well, so many specifications recommended that it can get intimidating, but it looks good! Beautiful life you both are living, glad I found your channel, my husband and I talked about building off-grid but we're super interested in your Geodesic Dome idea, as well. Thanks!

Your Parents must be really proud of you guys. I love the fact that you guys have the same goals for making a living and enjoying life together by building your home from the ground up with your own hands. It is so beautiful to see and inspiring for young couples, not just gay couples but for real unconditional love couples. That couples can work together in love. Keep up the good work and positivity you guys are sharing in this journey.
