    Hardy is the best. he's a wonderful person, I've had the privilege of studying with him through his Digital Painting Studio course and the support and help I've had has been amazing. He's a down to earth consummate professional who cares. I highly recommend his Digital Painting Studio. It helped me so much.

    I've only scratched the surface of digital art, or working at all with colour. I'm glad you uploaded this, really great to see your break down. It's very hard to know where to start with so much choice online these days, but I've had an eye one your coarse for a while now.
    But I can safely say I'm looking forward to your coarse, I was holding out until I had gotten some more experience.

      @@fowlerillus I think with your technique and some experience in photoshop or another layers I can reach some style , like alex horley , jim murray , parente, or even frazetta, I created a forearm , apply your tecnhique and integrate some blueshish and greenish tones in extra layers to make that extremely 90's comic style .

    Are u also blending the colors together after u get the hue saturation for the skin?

    • @fowlerillus
      @fowlerillus  2 роки тому +1

      Definitely. The hue/saturation shift and underpainting steps get you to a certain point, but then I blend and refine heavily.

    Anyone have any insight? I've been eyeing his class from udemy (concept art- characters & backgrounds) and I'm trying to decide whether I should get it. My problem is that I don't have Photoshop. I use Painttool SAI. Is it worth it if I don't have the program he primarily uses?

    • @fowlerillus
      @fowlerillus  3 роки тому

      Hi Sarah, Concept Art Character Design is very software independent. It's much more about concepts, principles and techniques rather than app technicalities so using another app like Procreate or Affinity will deliver essentially the same benefit.

    I'm in your course but having a lot of trouble with the value rendering of the face. I can do the ball, cube, apple, etc., but when I try the face it just looks flat and messy. Not sure where I'm going wrong with it.

    For some reason I'm having a really hard time getting that pale yellow color after painting in red/orange values. It doesn't come out like yours even though I match the hue and lightness numbers. When I try to paint red under it, it comes out as an orange color.

    • @fowlerillus
      @fowlerillus  Рік тому +1

      Hmm - could it be possible that you were sampling colors and painting with colors other than the red/orange during the value phase? It's important to only use that single color and erase when you want it darker (not sample and paint a mid tone). Other than that, I'd probably have to see if to give you helpful advice. Feel free to reach out on the DPS discord if you'd like to share it.

      Welcome to the courses Youri. Digital Painting apps tend to run more smoothly if you have a lot of RAM and a powerful graphics card. Whenever I have to buy a new computer, those are the two stats I try to max out. Beyond that, my hardware knowledge is pretty limited.
