Sadly in 2017, after a sudden illness from cancer, Terry Harrison passed away. I am in touch with Terry’s lovely wife who is recovering well but slowly after her devastating loss. Terry is a huge loss not only to the art world but to his dear family and friends who will miss him enormously. He was a great artist who loved to share his artistic skills and encouraged thousands of people to pick up a brush paints and create. Terry ❤️
The more I watch videos about drawing, and painting, and art in general, the more I see that you just need to let yourself have fun, and let everything flow, and do whatever you want.
I have been a long time fan of yours. I have purchased each and every video of yours. These were not on DVD at the time!!! You taught me to paint trees and lovely backgrounds. Masking fluid is just great to protect little flowers. Thanks for those marvellous videos which I will cherish for years to come. Luv ya Terry. Your fan from France. xxx
Sorry to hear but delighted to have met and did a workshop in Sussex With Terry who did a great job, inspiring me and selling a few brushes and books along with the day. I often refer to them and appreciate his individual talent. Fond memories indeed. Best wishes John T
The sign of a realy great artist is when you watch them paint their work and until the last thirty seconds you think it looks terrible! But then they add some detail and viola! The mountain Terry did was just such a painting.Fantastic work!
To watch you painting it looks so easy, yet, I am afraid I can't do it though I love love painting once when I was very very young. Thanks for sharing with us! : )
Hi, the purpose of using soap on the brush is to stop the masking fluid from sticking to the brush and so will easily wash off. See Terry's other clip on here for using masking fluid.
The soap is used to prevent the brush from getting ruined by the masking fluid. It's easier to wash off when you have used a bit of soap before dipping in the masking fluid.
The white is the masking fluid which has been applied, which later is rubbed off to reveal the clean paper underneath. Just 'Google'- 'masking fluid' to learn all about it.
you are such a great artist, sir. I wish I was born talented like you. Practicing doesn't go well for me. I am studying Architecture and it's a requirement to know how to color and paint. Sadly, it is not my forte. Guess I have to watch your vids repeatedly and practice more. :) thanks for the vids!
A very nice demonstration. A question: I've often been told that when painting reflections on water, that which is dark on land will be lighter in the water, and that which is light will be darker. You don't follow this "art school" rule. Why?
Sorry you are having audio problems, its fine here. As regards the book, Terry has produced a book of the same name and if you have a look at the books on his web site then you can see if its the same one.Regards.
Wow, you make it look so easy!! I'm going through Stratford Career Institute for art and I'm starting to work with pastels. How do you get yourself comfortable enough to do this!
Not paint, but masking fluid. It dries to protect the paper and then rubbed off to leave the clean white paper underneath. Just 'google' masking fluid, for more info.
Hello Terry, It is wonderful day to learn how to paint from you, nice and clear explanation, only one word I do not understand what you mean that is "Nid Noi green"I just wonder " and I am happy you can speak Thai too Terry Harrison.
I believe you are my favorite instructor. Love your personality and the way you teach. Thank You....Would you mind telling me what king of watercolor paper you use and what sizes and brnads of your brushes? I will probably only be able to buy one a month, but over a year I can 12! Thank you again. Karen
