The tour guide did say that there are plans to salvage some of the windows and other parts of buildings. SROs would have been a great choice! Unfortunately I believe many of the buildings are structurally compromised in a way that makes them unsafe (and they contain asbestos and lead as well), so they must be carefully demolished. The state is planning to build a forensics lab on the site to help deal with the backlog of forensic testing, as well as a huge joint laboratory for state health, environmental, and agricultural depts.
