I don’t ever write comments like this, but this spoke to me on such a personal note. Six months ago, I got back home to the US from living abroad in Spain for three months. I thought living abroad would do it for me. Like in every corny, coming-of-age movie ever, I thought that living by myself in Spain for three months would give me all the answers that I needed (wanted, really) to continue building my life, my career, etc. I thought I’d come back happy, refueled, satisfied, ready to take on life. Instead, I’ve come back and I’m more confused than ever about what I want in life. I’ve realized that you’re meant to “figure out life” along the way. There’s no road map, no step-by-step guide. There’s just life and its unpredictability. I’m learning how to cope with that, and I’m learning to let go of my need of needing to know answers. Life just happens, and somewhere along in the journey you learn stuff and you figure it out. I have no clue what I want, or what life holds for me, but realizing that the only “answer” is to just let go and let life happen as it happens has been extremely liberating. As I’m stuck at home in the US, watching this from my desk at work, not really knowing what I want in life, I appreciate the realness of your videos. Thank you.
I got back to US in June after 9 months. Language teaching assistant in the public schools. Was fun while I thought of next move. It really didn't help too much, but I had fun. My decision is to go back and hunt for community that suits me, then do a full year. I don't have to work, (Probably would be a good idea) but maybe some type of remote work, but I can't get a visa that would include working as an employee. Keep trying new things.
When Max said "Go big or go home" I immediately thought "that is the last thing you want to say about a car you're going to drive in Italy", but hey, nobody got hurt and couple of scratches and dents in a car or campervan really aren't that big of a deal, are they? I love how you are literally allergic to cats and still travel with cat treats!
Eh, it's not really an issue as long as you stick to major roads. You definitely don't want to drive a massive campervan on white roads though, especially if you're american and used to roads being super large. Even here in the northern plains white roads going through fields are often only large enough to barely fit two cars. State roads (I think the US equivalent is highways?) are always large enough for two semis to pass each other, so they're not a problem. Actually even a lot of roads marked as white are fine, but the problem is that on google maps it's impossible to distinguish a provincial road built to the same standards as a state road from one that's not. I mean unless you check with streetview, I guess.
As an Italian I really laughed when you just "woke up the next day" and decided that you had to go to the beach down south... and basically traveled 1000Km or more (10/12 hours of drive) because you went from Auronzo di Cadore up north to Salerno area which is under Naples ;D nice trip. Most people in Italy won't ever do this :D
As an Italian is even funnier cause there’s sea everywhere: they could have gone in Tuscany or in Emilia, or even in Liguria but they choose the long way ahahha
I was just in Italy last week! I went north of Verona, and fell in love with the alps and the locals too. The best spots are the non-toursity spots. 😘👌
Yeah samee we drove down to italy to Venezia, it was cool but there were wayyy too many tourists. I really really enjoyed my trip when I went to Brixen / Bressanone a small town in Südtirol / Alto Adige and I absolutely loved the mountains the people everything!!
I'm italian and I think that the "non-touristy" part of Italy is what makes this country so beautiful. Tourism is great and it is a big part of italian economy, but I think that tourists shouldn't visit only the most famous cities but "exploring" the small cities, too

Luke, depression often hits creative people. I was dealing with it recently - then I was involved in rescuing a drowning 16-year old. It shook me out of it. It's great that you went to the non-touristy places. They're usually the most beautiful. So funny when you went into that pub with only locals. They were probably thrilled to see new faces! I once ended up in a small pub in between England and Wales and once you open up, it's amazing how happy the locals are to see new people to tell their stories to and having others show an interest in their village.

No matter what our lives bring to us, we find ourselves needing time to reflect, and to recharge. I know where you are coming from when you don’t know what lies ahead. I’ve been wanting to take a month long trip away from home, and my friends think I’m crazy. But I feel the need to regroup. As an artist/musician I’m in the public eye a lot. I don’t dislike what I do, or that I am in that spotlight, but I feel the need to get away like you did, with just one other person and get my energy back. Your videos inspire getting out and finding yourself. Most of us are not as lucky as you to travel like you do, but I think we can find bliss in places closer to us. Thanks for what you do. And Max, thanks for pulling Luke away from his depression. He needed it. ❤️❤️
I literally got tears into my eyes when I saw simple people leaving in such beautiful places. This gives me hope and inspiration, thank you! Hi from Russia.
I enjoyed watching Max version and this was amazing too I guess the fast version of the story. I wish all can have an opportune to travel when depressed. I hope your ok now too. Both your version was extremely amazing can wait for part 2
Aww man, that was awesome. I visited Italy and Lake Como on a European Tour when I was 21. Loved it sooo much. I’m glad you found Max to share that experience. Sounds like someone you really needed at that time. Your videos are so inspiring. Although fighting illness just now my mind is planning new trips. Thanks to you.
Being so open about saying I'm not ok and that's ok on such a public platform like UA-cam is not only brave but incredibly inspiring. I've struggled with depression in the past and after quitting my last job that was causing a lot of unhappiness those feelings of numb and being so lost have come back. Happy for you that an amazing trip like this one helped you realize some of these conclusions and that you will continue to tackle them by following your gut and continuing to meet people. Meeting new people and exploring new cultures can give us so much perspective to what we struggle with daily and I resonated so much with your comment about when you feel like this you don't often want to be around other people but often that is what you need, I'll remember that one for myself! I'm a recent subscriber (found you from a Nathaniel Drew video) and I've really enjoyed your raw and honest videos, it's amazing to see a content creator create content and not portray this image that their life is amazing and they have it all together but still create nonetheless! Keep posting!!
I found your channel because my boyfriend was complaining about your beiber hair (he’s jealous cause he’s lost his lol) Then I watched your video and was completely delighted by your storytelling.
3:15 man, that gas station! It's the one I pass every time I'm going to stay for a few days in the mountains haha. Glad you liked your trip, even if in a "writer's block" phase
yep, same. the pandemic completely slowed me down and i feel like im still stuck in the same place where i was 2 years ago, with no idea how to move on...
I’m so glad to see you happy and posting again Luke!! I love your videos and I don’t see a lot of people doing this video style anymore. Just know it’s not going unnoticed!!!
thank you for sharing your inner monologue dude! it's comforting to know that not everybody feels what they expect to feel at a given moment, and that it's alright to feel that way.
as soon as you said we need to find a beach i was like good luck with the roads lmao, loved the video tho and as an italian i’m grateful you were able to meet these nice people, it’s my first time watching a video of yours but i appreciated your honesty
Hey Luke, I'm in a similar part of my life where I'm figuring things out. I thought that after travelling Europe I would have things figured out, but now I'm even more confused as to the direction I should take! It's nice to know that I'm not alone.
STOP I forgot why I loved you and fck I remember. Your heart man it transcends through the screen so hard as if it just bleeds fkn kindness or smth. Love the vid and outlook you have on shit, even tho you’re going through it your vlogs are always so peaceful, like when you’re walking home but it’s dusk
Lukes vlogs/videos are like his journals. His entire soul and experience in it. All his thoughts (well most of it) with transparency. That's what makes viewers connect so well to him. Sometimes they're going to contradict him and that's okay because that's life, we change and experience different things as we grow
I just found your chanel and i have to say you are one of the most straightforward and honest person i found making travel videos. It feels great seeing you take a differet approach to this video and it turned out great. Im glad to see you happy to travel again.

Max is such a cutie ... I'd travel with him anywhere... he is such a free spirit... how can you not love hanging with this guy and enjoy such a great trip to Italy. I hope to see more videos with you two guys together. This one was awesome! I hope he pulled you out of your depression Luke. Thanks guys.
North of Lake Como is the area of Italy my grandparents immigrated to America from. I visited this area about 15 years ago and met many distant relatives. This post reminded me I'm way overdue to return and explore the area in more detail.
Luke you have an amazing way of expressing feelings we all, as humans, go through. Your gift helps others see into themselves and grow. Even when you're a bit lost it shows us we are not so odd. And your ability to mix with others is exceptional in today's USA! Somewhere down the road there is a documentary or book that will tell a great story of a living as an open and good human being. Never stop using (and sharing) your exceptional gifts.
Depression is very debilitating, I’m glad you pulled yourself out of your rut. Life is beautiful and I love seeing your videos of people all over the world taking in the beauty.
The part about not feeling it probably resonates with lot of us. It happens I guess. I feel like thinking about it too much makes it worse because it puts pressure on you to feel something and that cant be forced. Try to forget about it, do your thing and it will happen again.
Oh my… this is the best travel video I’ve ever watched! So damn honest, so alive! Thank you for this. Somehow you recorded something I like about travelling most. Would love to see more such honest travel videos!
someone who lived in touristic places like Venice and lives in a really small town at the moment i can say, you need to be part of the places where you are traveling. of course you didnt feel anything, you were inside a van! you need to listen to other people's stories to have your perspective. it doesnt matter where you are. what i learnt in this 8 years since ive been living and filming this wonderful country is that without the people theres no story.
So today I was talking to my sister about the youtube algorithm thing and the idea of how young people / musicians / youtuber's tend to get stuck doing the same things over again out of the fear that changing things up or doing more of what you want to do will bring less views etc leading people to make content that doesn't inspire them and ... if it doesn't bring you true inspiration .. well ... passivity and depression set in .. I then remembered watching that video you made about it when you got stuck last time ! I hadn't watched any of your videos since ( apologies, my binging youtube days are long behind me ) but I am so glad i decided to see what you were up to now. I hope you realise that this video is massively inspiring to many BECAUSE making it brought you so many life lessons, joy, and the ability to surrender to the moment , surrender to vulnerability and sharing that with people . Always a joy to see what you are up to - Taissia ( I'm not even 22 and I already write youtube comments like a 50 year old, holy cow )
Love this level of transparency and this came to me at a right time. As someone who wants to become a filmmaker this has been a confusing time for me too. Thanks for this, always loved your videos I am glad to see you posting again
ive been living abroad since 2018, always loved traveling, but the at some point ive realized I liked seeing less places for longer, went over a year without leaving a small country once, got to know it so well, and it was a whole new experience. I have known been about 8 months in a single city (new country) and will be here for at least 6 more. IDK just a thought watching luke talk about how he feels about life/travel I love your videos Luke!
Great video! It also added some perspective to Max’s CMBYN video. Some of your scenes of the more intimate moments between you guys would have added to Max’s video in a beautiful way. Nice job!
So THIS is how you two met!! I have watched both of you for years (even when Luke was making those silly thirst trap videos in the 2010s hahahaha). It’s like two universes have collided. Anyway, I’m loving these new contents. Please do more travel videos with Max!!
Ey a Croatian that doesn’t hate us! Here’s my like. Also I visited Croatia it’s absolutely beautiful and they’re very welcoming. Only issue is transportation which is a bit underdeveloped but I guess that’s due to being poorer. Nevertheless it was great
thank you for sharing and maling this a space to talk about depression and tools to accept wherever you are, whatever you are doing, ups and downs happen, uet it is up to you, situation by situation and step by step, to keep looking and taling as much time as you need. you are more than enough, you are doing your best (so is everyone you meet). so be kind, bring love towarfs yourself, compassion and service to the world and you'll be alright. thank you, luke- you are doing great 🌻
From the opposite side of the fence, having great pipe dreams of traveling because I've never ever had the experience, and still feeling excruciating stuckness despite the moves I'm making while I'm (figuratively and literally) stuck in my home country... somehow the main point of this whole video still resonates strong. So thanks.
I'm Italian and one of your videos popped up in my yt today for the first time and it was this video and maaannn, great content... just stunning! and hope you liked my country

So great seeing another video from you. It's so hard for me to let go and get away from my current commitments, but your videos allow me to do that. Thank you!
This is my 12th year in Italy. Lately I’ve been feeling unsatisfied with my life here and the economic situation in general, and have been trying to figure out a way to move to Canada. Your video reminded me that there’s no country as beautiful and magical as Italy. Now I want to stay and fight for what I want. Thanks Luke!

Your videos inspire getting out and finding yourself. Most of us are not as lucky as you to travel like you do, but I think we can find bliss in places closer to us. Thanks for what you do. And Max, thanks for pulling Luke away from his depression. He needed it. ❤️❤️
This dude is slowly becoming my best UA-cam. Your videos are always just so relatable and entertaining. Love you man
I literally got tears into my eyes when I saw simple people leaving in such beautiful places. This gives me hope and inspiration, thank you! Hi from Russia.
It’s so many people that’d love to trade places with you and feel ‘nothing’ it’s a blessing

“If you hate your life in America, you’ll hate your life in Italy” amazing SNL skit
I think it's hard to get back into the swing of things after everything we've all been through. What you're feeling is what we are all feeling.
yep, same. the pandemic completely slowed me down and i feel like im still stuck in the same place where i was 2 years ago, with no idea how to move on...
@@slayjae I see I’m not alone! It’s nice to see other people share experiences. Been feeling the same .
Never seen anybody be this honest on youtube. The fact that you show both sides, i love it.
I really really love your filmmaking skills, you’re insanely talented.
I’m so glad to see you happy and posting again Luke!! I love your videos and I don’t see a lot of people doing this video style anymore. Just know it’s not going unnoticed!!!
ua-cam.com/video/j6IchreCwcg/v-deo.html
Luke, you and Max need to do another video together. Your banter and chemistry is cool and really moving!
You two are great together. Hoping both of you make many more travel videos. Love seeing places I won’t get to visit.
thank you for sharing your inner monologue dude! it's comforting to know that not everybody feels what they expect to feel at a given moment, and that it's alright to feel that way.
as soon as you said we need to find a beach i was like good luck with the roads lmao, loved the video tho and as an italian i’m grateful you were able to meet these nice people, it’s my first time watching a video of yours but i appreciated your honesty
I think you are one of the fewest that really understand what italy really is (the lowercase letter is wanted).

Thanks for taking us with, and being honest, it really helps to see others feeling what I am
You inspire me.

I just found your chanel and i have to say you are one of the most straightforward and honest person i found making travel videos. It feels great seeing you take a differet approach to this video and it turned out great. Im glad to see you happy to travel again.
I never comment, but your content is always next level! Love the videos Luke
💚💚💚💚 love from an Italian girl who is on a journey to find her purpose and to make a new, healthier version of myself. I'm lost, It's hard starting back from ground zero... but what you're doing is an inspiration, jumping into the unknown is really the best to finally find what we look forward in life next. I wish you the best luck on your journey 😊
So when everyone is depressed, "you go to Italy?" Made my day lol
That video and your feelings (and lack of) are sooo relatable. Well done on telling the story in a very entertaining and touching way!
I'm from northern Italy, and it's sad a lot of people thinks only about the sea associated with Italy while we have beautiful mountains and lakes too.
Dipende, in alcuni Stati lo sanno benissimo che abbiamo montagne spettacolare. Ad esempio tedeschi, norvegesi, austriaci o francesi lo sanno

Love this level of transparency and this came to me at a right time. As someone who wants to become a filmmaker this has been a confusing time for me too. Thanks for this, always loved your videos I am glad to see you posting again
Oh Luke just hang a out with Max some more for a while 🙏 That look on Max's face when you told him we're going to a bar 😁
Might have been the best part of the video lol
ive been living abroad since 2018, always loved traveling, but the at some point ive realized I liked seeing less places for longer, went over a year without leaving a small country once, got to know it so well, and it was a whole new experience. I have known been about 8 months in a single city (new country) and will be here for at least 6 more. IDK just a thought watching luke talk about how he feels about life/travel
I love your videos Luke!
This was such an awesome videos Luke, loved the collaboration a lot, you guys should do it again sometime!
6:15 dude that's Castellammare! i live a few km away from it, thanks for visiting!

I am 68 & envious of your adventurous spirit. Beautiful film!
You can't hate Italy🇮🇹 Come to Croatia, also!🇭🇷 Support for your unique content!
Ey a Croatian that doesn’t hate us! Here’s my like. Also I visited Croatia it’s absolutely beautiful and they’re very welcoming. Only issue is transportation which is a bit underdeveloped but I guess that’s due to being poorer. Nevertheless it was great
Love Croatia!
Love Croatia, from Italy.
Croatia is such a beautiful country, I would love to visit it one day. Love from Italy❤💚💜
Love Croatia form Italy 🇭🇷❤🇮🇹
Went there. It was such a beautiful place!
thank you for sharing and maling this a space to talk about depression and tools to accept wherever you are, whatever you are doing, ups and downs happen, uet it is up to you, situation by situation and step by step, to keep looking and taling as much time as you need.
you are more than enough, you are doing your best (so is everyone you meet).
so be kind, bring love towarfs yourself, compassion and service to the world and you'll be alright.
thank you, luke- you are doing great 🌻
We NEED more videos with Max!!
I saw you on Snapchat and figured I’d check you out this is the first video I watched but it’s amazing hope the rest are similar

From the opposite side of the fence, having great pipe dreams of traveling because I've never ever had the experience, and still feeling excruciating stuckness despite the moves I'm making while I'm (figuratively and literally) stuck in my home country... somehow the main point of this whole video still resonates strong. So thanks.
Going to non turist places in Italy is the best thing you can do. Places that no one knows that are incredible
I'm Italian and one of your videos popped up in my yt today for the first time and it was this video and maaannn, great content... just stunning! and hope you liked my country
You couldn’t have picked a better person to connect with. Max really is a genuine guy with a heart of gold and it’s clear that you guys have some series feelings towards each other I’m so happy for you both
Whoah what? Feelings?
They dating ?
Happy to see you back Luke!
Lake Como is def touristy. Maybe not as much as other places in Italy but still touristy. Very known lake
So great seeing another video from you. It's so hard for me to let go and get away from my current commitments, but your videos allow me to do that. Thank you!
Watching this as an italian, I am actually planning a more thorough road trip of my country now :)
Call me by your name vibes
Loved this sm Luke :) glad u guys got to meet up and have this adventure finally!
The italian farmer clip was my fav!
Please keep making videos like this, I love that you’re so genuine.
