My teammate is committed to Brown and I think he’s like top 20 in the nation at 182 lbs he told me that it’s not about who has the biggest move set or who’s the strongest in college, it’s about who makes the least mistakes
My friend is the coach at Brown. Your friend just made the beat decision of his life. Todd Beckerman is the best human being I've ever known in my life.
“If your the richest man in the room your in the wrong room” Jeff Bezos: The worst part of being faster then the speed of light, is that you are only in darkness
I think that one of the main differences so far from what I've gathered during my first college year is that most college guys have a lot better handfighting than high school kids. I don't think that technique in college is actually that much different than high school, but most of the time college guys seem to just be able to set up shots so much better than high school kids. I've noticed from going back home and rolling around with high school kids, even higher level high school kids, that a lot of them really can't keep up with the level of handfighting that college wrestling implements. I don't think that I'm necessarily faster or stronger than a ton of these guys but that change alone has elevated my game a ton.
For all the differences, the game is always the same. Handfight, HeadFight, Create Pressure, Attack on your Fails and re-attack, and re-attack, and insist on dominant position. Great content.
I know a very good former college wrestler who won 60% of his high school matches by pin. Many of those high school pins were against weaker and inexperienced opponents. In college, he said he was lucky to get more than one or two pins in a season of 25 to 30 matches. He said he always knew if he pinned a college wrestler, he had pinned a very powerful and accomplished opponent. And one of those college pins was much more satisfying to him as an athlete than all of his high school pins put together. Hope you become a great college pinner!!
I’ve been following this channel for so long and it made me so happy when you responded to my dm on insta but I wanted to let you know how happy I am for you that your succeeding in wrestling and in life. Good luck for the rest of the ride:)

What you said at about 1:35 is true of any sport. A lot of athletes that are 'top dog' in HS on their teams quickly realize that their new teammates in college were 'top dogs' where they came from and YOU are no longer the 'big man' on the team. First thing pros say when they get out of college and get to the pros is that EVERYONE is good.
Keep up the good work Cayden, I started following your because my son’s name is Caiden, but your positive attitude and hard work has made me a fan who is routing for you to win a NCAA championship one day. I believe you have what it takes, keep going kid.

Put a 100 lbs on my deadlift and no one could even stop me from getting up from almost any position. SPEED is king. I love TECHNIQUE. But POWER in your whole body lets do the moves as intended
I felt that tattoo comment. Im a girl freshman on varsity and walking up to the mat to a man with a mullet and a chest tat is pretty dang intimidating.
I starting wrestling too late in high school ( I started my junior year). One of my biggest regrets was not letting basketball go and trying out wrestling sooner. I'm currently an MMA enthusiast. Cayden after your college career do you think you'll consider MMA?
When looking at College vs. High School wrestling, you have to remember the difference in desire between the two groups. In high school, some people wrestle just to be on the team or to be with friends. In college, that is completely different. Everyone who wrestles in college does it because they are really good or at least because they really like the sport. This difference alone makes college wrestling so much more difficult in competition. No match is easy in college because everyone who competes at a college level has chosen to take that step up.
I only wrestled high school, but I figured that's what the difference was. In high school, people were just trying it out as a hobby. In college, those guys are filtered out and the talent pool are the guys that made it to State.
The biggest thing I went through was noticing no one gives up easy takedowns. I would go through some practices in college where I wouldnt get a single takedown.
yo im in a mma gym rn, that do muay thai-boxing class, and a. Bjj class. But litterly zero wrestling. Any advice? Bcs wrestling imo is the most important aspect in mma, and my mma gym dont have that.
My son began wrestling recently at 9, almost 10 yrs. old. He 🥇 his 1st “match” is that what it’s called?🙂 & the vid. my fam. took of it was inspiring to me. As a former athlete, now that I know my kid’s pretty much dominating, what would you suggest I put him in on his off time? I ask b/c baseball starts in the spring. And, any YT vids. you recommend that I should show him to get pumped up? He’s not too fond of the sport yet-but his matches he is literally killen it…? Just needs reinforcement/confidence to continue I think. 🙏
Can’t even lie, it’s mad hard wrestling a college guy. Obviously but like their speed and their heavy hands is like “good lord save me!” At my club we have college and highschool practice together. I see that as a huge benefit because when I get back to regular high school wrestling, I’ll be used to the college speed and those heavy hands. It’d be a less of a challenge to wrestle high school kids. But anyways GREAT VIDEO. I loved the compare and contrast 🙃keep up the awesome content Cayden !
I've been working out almost all of quarantine and I've gained 20 lbs from bulking my legs a little bit and now I'm 160 lbs, do you think its good for a wrestler to be 160 at 12?
I'm an ex-college wrestler and a coach now. How tall are you. I was 5'7 and 167-215 in college with huge legs. It hurt me a lot. Nowadays it pays to have chicken legs and a big upper body.
