Ana, your sentiments about the language are very valid. My children are of mixed ethnic backgrounds, and it is very challenging to speak the native language with them subconsciously because their dad only speaks English. So they speak English as their main language because of school, their dad etc. it’s so much easier and automatic and default to speak English with them. There is no one else to reinforce the native language unfortunately. It was my intention to teach them but hasn’t worked out. Cut dad some slack 😜

Nigeria Currency was heavier than USA Dollar in 1983 when l moved to England. l was twenty years old and just ran away from Home to England by stealing my father money. l grew up in Ibadan but l was always in Lagos when l had long vacation in High School. l attended Olivet Baptist High School in Oyo. My family moved from Ghana, Kumasi back to Nigeria in 1971. When you play FOOTBALL from youth, your immune system will forever be solid. l have being living in USA since 1990 when l moved from London. ------ Osollo.

Ana girl I can relate. I am afull Ghanaian born and raised in Europe and my parents didnt even bother teaching me EWE. I can speak it a little bit. Many African parents have made this mistake in the past when it comes to teaching their native tongue to their kids that are born abroad. I will be making a video highlighting this in my diaspora series on my channel
Please do sister, I think the older generations did a lot of that thinking that we are now living in a global community so African languages is not important to know but to speak fluent European language is the way to go because we do trade with those countries but today is different, Africa will be a power to contend with so we must know Arabic, Swahili and other African language of trade!! Ana, your sentiments about the language are very valid. My children are of mixed ethnic backgrounds, and it is very challenging to speak the native language with them subconsciously because their dad only speaks English. So they speak English as their main language because of school, their dad etc. it’s so much easier and automatic and default to speak English with them. There is no one else to reinforce the native language unfortunately. It was my intention to teach them but hasn’t worked out. Cut dad some slack 😜

I wish and pray for all Africans and those of the African diaspora to be free from the mental shackles of slavery that prevent us from understanding the importance of Pan Africanism and adopting and applying the concept of Pan Africanism. Your father is a solid Man that lived through Nigeria. Nigeria Currency was heavier than USA Dollar in 1983 when l moved to England. l was twenty years old and just ran away from Home to England by stealing my father money. l grew up in Ibadan but l was always in Lagos when l had long vacation in High School. l attended Olivet Baptist High School in Oyo. My family moved from Ghana, Kumasi back to Nigeria in 1971. When you play FOOTBALL from youth, your immune system will forever be solid. l have being living in USA since 1990 when l moved from London. ------ Osollo.

Ana girl I can relate. I am afull Ghanaian born and raised in Europe and my parents didnt even bother teaching me EWE. I can speak it a little bit. Many African parents have made this mistake in the past when it comes to teaching their native tongue to their kids that are born abroad. I will be making a video highlighting this in my diaspora series on my channel

Wao. I'm born in Ghana, grew up in Togo, lived 7 years in Germany but living in the United States now since 2004, now building my dream house in Ghana, I never come home without crossing the border to spend few weeks in Togo. Sophie is your twin, and you both favor your dad. You looked exactly like Sophie in that baby picture you showed. I think Sophie is very athletic as well as Micah and they possibly inherited some of that from your dad. It is good to know you had/ and still have a relationtionship with him despite the separation from your mom. It helps mixed race children to remain whole and accept both cultures. It is shameful that the world tries to box them in and force them to choose a race. It is my prayer that those of mixed race heritages recognize this and can be comfortable with both cultures. In my eyes, mixed children are some of the most beautiful children in the world. You as well as your children and Kevin are beautiful! There is something within the soul of mixed race individuals that helps cultivate the world into a better place as the result of their existence. Period! Did not mean to be long winded.
