Best of luck Cards HQ! Ignore all the haters, you guys are gonna kill it!
Again, love everything I’m hearing.
95% of card shops are quiet boring retail stores with dust in the corners.
You’re really hitting the “experience” aspect and that’s the new strategy in business right now.
I talk to guys who run card shows out here in the PHX areas (from SF)
And they just can’t figure out how to run shows on Sunday’s during football. Creating a space to just hang out, watch games with friends for hours at a time, and buy/trade and actually “talk” about sports.
Not this transactional poker face “experience” Saturday card shows become.
Y’all should have tvs displaying your breaks live for people walking around in the shop. Have QR codes to your breaks and social media platforms.
Be fun for people inside to buy into a break with others online and get their hits sight-on-seen.
That’s not happening ANYWHERE in my state.
You guys should legit create your own branded Pop Report that shows the pop reports and combined pop reports from all major graders.
That would be a sick value-add to your app if it doesn’t have it. If you can create your own marketplace for SCI like Goldin, that would be hard but legit.
But most of all, imagine doing online trades with people. I think you interviewed a guy awhile ago about that idea.
But instead of buying and selling all the time.
Be fun to own a “box” or “vault” that’s yours. And you put your cards in there and send it back and forth.
Trade 5 cards for 1. Whatever. A good way to trade cards instead of creating 7 middle men to trade online.
Just get a “rake” when ppl trade.
Keep the ideas coming. What a journey this is about to be.
You just might be franchising this thing one day. 📈📈📈📈
Thanks!!
Super Excited for CardsHQ! I want to thank you for being a great person for the hobby. Even though you came into the hobby during the spike you still stuck with us after the crash unlike alot of the other huge content creators from back then. You are great for the hobby and dont listen to the haters ♥
Great comment
Dude this gets me even more excited than my Jordan Love Collection and I bout it because of Geoff Wilson! Yes I did my DND & research but he said that a back-up QB who has not played in a year or two and has the most upside! Thank You Geoff! I got it regrade a PSA 9 and it got A Black-Label-! BGS 1/1 Wow. I have recipt and photos and will have a Hobby-Vlog debut episode #1 @ Cards! See U at The Grand Opening!
Nice
I’m excited about the store opening and the live buying. Never been to Georgia before but now I’m definitely coming!
Excited for the shop and love to see you pushing the hobby forward!!!
I agree
You guys are definitely the top of all sports cards and everything involved with cards. And what yall do for the kids. Words can't describe how that makes me feel. Amazing people
As a “collector” I really dont trade my cards… i buy and keep cards I want in my collection.. so maybe I’m differeent from other collectors who like to trade there cards like u r saying u want to happen in ur store ? If I bought a card I want to keep it… very few cards I want to trade… so curious how ur shop goes… For me I’d like it just for looking at all the cards in a vertical display and buying the ones I want...
I'm so effing excited for a close card shop....and to be this!!!
Everyone is super excited
This place sounds like both the Disney World and Costco of sports cards. I think they have every aspect covered regarding what people enjoy about the hobby and sounds like a fairytale coming to reality. I hope they can manage it well and keep it exciting as I will plan on making the venture out to Atlanta to visit. It sounds like a pretty risky investment but I hope it pays off and revolutionizes the hobby. Good luck!!
Retail is retail. Do you have an asset protection team?
Keeping the shop stocked and tracked will be a challenge and a half.
It's a car show in a shop.
Wow this shop is going to set the standard for customers
Do you have the contacts to bring in professional athletes to autograph merchandise?
Good luck Mr Wilson! 👍
Greet them with security guards as well. A win for Geoff is a win for the hobby. Please protect your store from smash and grabs.
I live in virginia and will make a point to fly to atlanta to vist your shop for sure at some point and check it out..
Will you ship overseas
Yes!
The alarm should say, “HELLOOOOO!” when you get a big hit. 😂.
Credit to Jeff Wilson, his a business minded person. I do like that his making moves for the better. For us, who are collectors.
i definitely bought a cool tyler matzek after the 2021 nlcs!
I do sportcards content on youtube, my question was is your store vlogger friendly, what are limitations and procedure to conduct a recording in your store?
So close!!!!
How and where would someone sit say they want to fill their want list for completing their vintage sets ?
Imma show up and break a shit ton of Metazoo
What time does the bar open ?
Just my experience with casinos which I enjoy.. they have all built big sports areas with big screens for sports betting and alot of seating… I’ve never seen more the a few people in that area… I guess its becuase live sports are only at a specific time which makes most all the time not interesting to be watching… I’d think monday thru friday in the day no one is watching sports… so to me its like a casino.. 95% of the time its empty… 5% of the time is has alot of people...
Who do we get in contact with about purchasing some cards/ memorabilia?
Taco says you let him in there, then we will be there to do a break on camera 🌮🌮🌮🌮
If you're all about transparency, you should show the last 3 comps for each card that you're auctioning while live selling.
why?
@@bubblesnz1059 because the whole reason that short, live auctions work is because buyers don't have time to research comps and often over pay for that reason. They talk about wanting to be transparent and allowing buyers to see the cards coming up in the auction, why not make it easy and just show recent comps?
I am suggesting that you have a small area for youtubers to record with out music playing, most of the time we get demonitized from a background music from the store. Thanks
I thought you didn't buy any card over $1000?? When did that change?
Now that we are closer to opening, we are more open to purchasing cards over 1000.
@ryanvanoost can Taco come? 🌮🌮🌮🌮
Screw breaking and breakers
B-cide on the beat
This sounds way too complicated to manage along with being an influencer. Good luck I wish you the best and I hope content from inside the store can support the chaos that you are going to unleash on your labor force in the shop (including these very young inexperienced young dudes). It is one thing to go to shows and enjoy the hobby. It is another thing managing a store and dealing with the public. Most people are crazy and sports cards dont talk back to you. I look forward to watching this play out. Maybe you just go for a pawn stars type program and make a ton off money that way with content. The rest sounds like Chucky Cheese and nobody really wants to put the mouse outfit on or host the birthday parties for minimum wage these days.
2nd have you thought about creating a GRADING COMPANY
First
You gotta feel for this guy, the people around him are all yes man and does not even protect him. Math is not mathing, the current card economics will not sustain this kind of setup. And he dont pull enough social media following to even fund this operation.
I dont think live streaming at a store will be a good idea for in person people at the store…. I dont think most would want to watch live breaks… live breaks r like 99% boring and one hit the other 1%….. Hope it works out tho… geoff is good at making changes so we will see how those live breaks in the store go...
Are you going to sell food?
Anyone who thinks the card shop isn’t innovative is hating on Geoff.
However, the big question: can they generate enough revenue given all of the (monthly) costs?
Using one company you own to do work for another one. Where have I seen this before 🤔
