when I was a 14 or 15 Y/o young sprout i use to walk to school and everyday had to walk through what at the time was the worlds largest Corvette dealer back in 1970 or '71. Well one morning on my daily hike i was stopped dead in my tracks at that dealer by what turned out to be a Plum Crazy purple AAR that must have been traded in for a 'vette sitting on that dealers lot. Didn't know what it was but I made a pact with myself that day that when i got old enough to drive that was the car I was going to buy...whatever it was. Fast forward to June 1973...17 Y/O...2 weeks before I graduate high school... and while out in the garage working on my dirt bike my sister come home from her job and tells me there is one of those cars with the dotted line stripe on it for sale at the Ford dealer in the next town away so I grabbed my savings of $200 and hopped into my sister's hand me down '63 Ford Fairlane 4 door and floored her all the way to that dealer. There she was up on a special stand for stand out cars to be seen...my very first car. $2200.00 48,000 miles. Red, automatic. Absolutely THE most beautiful car that I have ever seen. I put my money down, my grandmother cosigned for the loan the next day and I worked my ass off to make the $79.80 payment for the next 3 years. But I did...and even after getting married, buying a house, raising 2 sons, and going through a divorce...that car still sits in my garage...ABSOLUTELY even more beautiful now than 90% of all the other cars in the world old or new.......
great story guy.. so glad you keeped her.. I agree they are the best looking muscle cars to ever come out of Detroit then and even today's muscle cars... I have a vitamin C orange AAR, 4 spd.. its one car I would never sell!!
most beautiful car ever made, i had a similar story with a red one, but never had the luck to find mine or the ability to justify or pay for one until much later in life, but the first 09 tor-red automatic srt chally to make it to my state is still sitting in my driveway, the hood stripes need replacing from being a daily for a few years and will be removing them and either painting the hood or wrapping it to match the aar look
A friend of mine back in the early 80's bought a Cuda AAR in Peterborough Ontario for 5,000.00 back then. It was hit by a drunk driver about 1 and half years later. And wrote off. It was Black and Gold trim, 340 6 and 4 speed pistol. God I loved that car. I could only imagine the worth today. I have another friend who owned a 1969 Hemi Charger here in Toronto. He bought that car with 17,000 original miles for 8900.00 back in 1987, He still owns that Hemi and it now has 25,000 and worth 125,000
LOVE. I almost bought one from the original owner in 1974. I've owned 3 each 440 magnum Mopars and a 340. Never a Cuda, my favourite. Thanks. Beautiful.
Yeah, they used to do all sorts of things to lighten those cars up for racing. Someone just mentioned the other day that they wiped the metal down with acid to thin the metal before they painted them.
one of my all time favs as well who ever restored this one did a very nice job...one of the first muscle cars i ever drove in as a young kid was a yellow 70 aar cuda my fathers life long good friend bought one of them in 1972 and still has it till this day its yellow and 4 speed pistol grip numbers matching it had a bang in the fender very light a couple month after the car was new and he had as far as i know the front of the car or one side maybe i forget now painted in 72 when he bought it and its always been garage kept low miles ext he is going to have it painted again just to have it perfect again like new cause the paint is just old but still really nice he will never sell it i think it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made and im a ford guy but i fall in love with it every time i see it.....cool video man ps i have a 1968 mustang fastback gt "X" code car 390 big block w/2v carb with c6 auto and 9 inch highland green marti report says 1 of 182 ever made please find one and make a video of it i have yet to ever see another one except once in auto trader and thats it it was not numbers matching but correct year 390 in it and full resto done very well asking 88 900 i couldnt amagine out of 182 there is very many left today....that would be cool to see another one
A guy I recently met claimed to have an AAR Cuda that he bought new in 1970, after graduating H.S. Said the car was in great shape, low miles, never repainted. Told me he would show it to me someday, and maybe consider selling it. Then he told me about the matching #'s, original Hemi it came with. Can any of you guess what I said next?
340-380-3440 all power houses out of mopar Plymouth new how to build engines how I miss those days of the muscle cars on the road I want to get another one one of these days
Jason Wilson Oh boy.I would have trouble with that one.Love the cudas but think boss 302 is a real street terror too.Know a guy who had one and he said he raced every type of 60s muscle car and NEVER LOST. I BELIEVE HIM TOO. THE BOSSES WERE ASS KICKERS.
This same thought is why I love 442s and GS-455s. Beautiful cars with ridiculous factory power, especially torque in Olds and Buicks case, and its something you can drive to a car show and be the only one there with one rather than a Chevelle or Camaro where there will be 6 or 9 others. Even GTOs have gotten too common for my taste recently
Awsome cuda it is a 🏁 racecar it like the roadrunner My favorite plymouth sounds wonderfull like 🎶 music thank you jeff and Jordan it so hot so we stay in the shadow have a wonderfull Day
The AAR only came with a specially built 340 with the 6-pack set up. and different suspension, exhaust etc. So it could compete in the trans am racing series just like the T/A challenger only in 1970 and a hemi or any other engine wouldn't be allowed in that series. I had a 70 AAR Cuda and it could outrun my 68 charger R/T with a 440.
Yeah rally's dash's were an option a bummer because people didn't know or just didn't spend the money...like chrome tips an the splash pan was 150 dollar's extra in 1970 that was big bucks for the regular cudas
The one thing I would change on this car is the tailpipes going out the back not the sides I never liked side pipes on the car remind me too much of a truck
'Cuda is abslolutely one of the best looking car of all times!!! (Matter of taste of course) But I don't understand what is so chilling of manual transmission!! Automatic is always faster!!! You should know it; you are americans!!!! We in Europe are paddling with stupid manual transmission and it is nothing else, but nuisance!!! Fortunately europeans have finally taught to build automatics too. About 90 years after, that was in common use in America.
First thing id do is take those pipes coming out each side and retire them immediately! A Cuda restoration wouldn't be complete without the exhaust tips coming out of the rear valance panel. The exhaust setup is an integral part of this classic that lends to its bada$$ appearance. Of course this is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. 😃
I don't think those are painted. Urethane covered bumpers were an extra cost option. Pretty rare on any Cuda, especially front AND rear. Even rarer on AAR/TA cars.
That's the way I muscle car should be I love the black Interiors my duster had black interior also it has a stick shift with a console perfect for a muscle car no automatics

Amazing! got pics or a video of her?
Jimmy870 Are you asking about the AAR or the available X-wife. .:)
my fav!! it they made a 71 it would be even better looking with that mean front grill!
most beautiful car ever made, i had a similar story with a red one, but never had the luck to find mine or the ability to justify or pay for one until much later in life, but the first 09 tor-red automatic srt chally to make it to my state is still sitting in my driveway, the hood stripes need replacing from being a daily for a few years and will be removing them and either painting the hood or wrapping it to match the aar look
best lookin 'cuda ever, imho
Glad you like it....thanks for watching!
This has to be the fifth one I’ve seen on UA-cam in the last week. Must not be too rare.

It is an amazing machine for sure. Thanks for taking a look!
I love the Strobe Stripes. But to be honest, all the muscle car graphics were awesome !
It definitely sounds good. Thanks for checking it out!
Mine was triple black. Never lost a race on the street in 1970 !
I bet, they could take big blocks in the lower speeds
Nice my uncle never did ether even aKR 500couldnt get it done he went door to door 5 times and that ford guy was bummed out
What did you have for a rear gear ?
I sure wouldn't mind one either. Thanks for taking a look!
I've always liked the Cuda's and the AAR is definitely my favorite. Thanks for checking it out!
It really is one of my all-time favorites...just a beautiful car. Thanks for watching!
It's definitely fun when I get to check out cars like this one. Thanks for watching!
It really does look sharp. Thanks for taking a look my friend.
Oh yeah, they definitely are strong runners. Thanks for taking a look at this one!
They definitely are very similar. I like the look of both of them. Thanks for watching!
LOVE. I almost bought one from the original owner in 1974. I've owned 3 each 440 magnum Mopars and a 340. Never a Cuda, my favourite. Thanks. Beautiful.
Thanks for having a look!

They really are amazing cars. Thanks for taking a look at this one!
Love the tiger stripe graphics on those cars. That was a NICE example.
Thanks for watching!
Yep, that's how they came from the factory. Thanks for checking it out!
Definitely a slick machine!! I would love to have one of them!!☺
I'm right there with ya....it really is an awesome machine!. Thanks for watching!
one of the best muscle cars of all time! I love Cuda's
Ohhhh my Lord! My all time favorite car of all... EVER...
The flat black hoods were to reduce glare off the hoods during racing.
That's one slick looking ride in the red and black!
I wonder why the hood scoop back then was only available on the barracuda and not the challenger
That would be great, I'm looking forward to it.
I'll definitely check out the next one I find.
Yeah, they used to do all sorts of things to lighten those cars up for racing. Someone just mentioned the other day that they wiped the metal down with acid to thin the metal before they painted them.
I remember those cars, they were a force to be reckoned with on the road, or from traffic light to traffic light.
Love this car and the Challenger two favorites
one of my all time favs as well who ever restored this one did a very nice job...one of the first muscle cars i ever drove in as a young kid was a yellow 70 aar cuda my fathers life long good friend bought one of them in 1972 and still has it till this day its yellow and 4 speed pistol grip numbers matching it had a bang in the fender very light a couple month after the car was new and he had as far as i know the front of the car or one side maybe i forget now painted in 72 when he bought it and its always been garage kept low miles ext he is going to have it painted again just to have it perfect again like new cause the paint is just old but still really nice he will never sell it i think it is one of the most beautiful cars ever made and im a ford guy but i fall in love with it every time i see it.....cool video man ps i have a 1968 mustang fastback gt "X" code car 390 big block w/2v carb with c6 auto and 9 inch highland green marti report says 1 of 182 ever made please find one and make a video of it i have yet to ever see another one except once in auto trader and thats it it was not numbers matching but correct year 390 in it and full resto done very well asking 88 900 i couldnt amagine out of 182 there is very many left today....that would be cool to see another one

Jarhead SNCO My guess would be; The car must be special, just like you are.. my dear. .
Hopefully you told the idiot that an AAR Cuda never came with a Hemi.
340-380-3440 all power houses out of mopar Plymouth new how to build engines how I miss those days of the muscle cars on the road I want to get another one one of these days
Love the 6-Packs
My favorite Mopar of them all.
Stunning
Thanks for checking it out!
Badass looking ride.
I always loved this car.
A Car based on this was the car the main character drove in the game Interstate '76; the Picard Piranha.
Absolutely Beautiful. You have the best job in the world.
Fast lane good name very nice ride by the way
Thanks for having a look Steven!
did they only do that long decal on the side in the AAR cudas?
YES
Nice Pony Car only about 2800 made in 1970 , very similar to the 1970 T/A Challenger only 2500 made. Both are very special cars :)
My 70 TA/AAR CUDA was neon green! 😢one exactly like it just sold for $100.000...darn I paid 2k for it way back in the 70s.
SWEET!
Question: The 1970 Cuda AAR, or the Mustang Boss 302.
Cuda all day long....
Cool, 1970 was the year I was born.
Math mathematically there have been 33% more numbers sold then ever produced originally
Awesome!
I think you're right, it sounds pretty mean.
georgeous.
Question for you fella' ?!? Where is the exterior FUEL fill port located on this Plymouth ?!? TIA!
Be hind the license plate.
It do not get better than that. ;)
I sure miss my Challenger T/A.

Good stuff
Jef nice to meet you, very nice to talk to you today online, I sleep more now because my wife expects is 11:18 pm here, gotta go, God bless
wow i love this car, I love very very very very very beautiful
According to factory documentation the staggering was in the width rather than diameter of the wheels
Yes, 15 x 7 wheels all around. Tires were different front and back: e60x15 front, & g60x15 rear.
Nice looking car 👍👌💪
Got an FM3 one of those.
Will you show us a Hemi 'cuda???
Brother inlaw has a factory purple 70 340 6-P Cuda four speed
Believe me if I was wealthy I'd buy it in a minute that's a nice ride
what a beast!
Very nice
What happen to the factory tach.
Ronnie Hunt Only came with the Rallye dash. Seems strange that it wasn't standard.
Nice in rally red
Cool fish.
Awsome cuda it is a 🏁 racecar it like the roadrunner My favorite plymouth sounds wonderfull like 🎶 music thank you jeff and Jordan it so hot so we stay in the shadow have a wonderfull Day
Yeah I always thought the side exhaust was the coolest of all muscle cars
Yeah, maybe the fact that they never built a Hemi AAR Cuda.
The AAR only came with a specially built 340 with the 6-pack set up. and different suspension, exhaust etc. So it could compete in the trans am racing series just like the T/A challenger only in 1970 and a hemi or any other engine wouldn't be allowed in that series. I had a 70 AAR Cuda and it could outrun my 68 charger R/T with a 440.
this is the #1 muscle car body style and im hardcore chevy.....
The sides and decals all look so simular.
I'm still trying to buy my best friends dads white AAR that he just kind of gave up on.
Yeah rally's dash's were an option a bummer because people didn't know or just didn't spend the money...like chrome tips an the splash pan was 150 dollar's extra in 1970 that was big bucks for the regular cudas
it was probably a dealership option.
i would do anything for this car
The one thing I would change on this car is the tailpipes going out the back not the sides I never liked side pipes on the car remind me too much of a truck
why do the challengers and the aar cudas look alike? the headlights si
80000 seems high but if you're rich that's pocket change
'Cuda is abslolutely one of the best looking car of all times!!! (Matter of taste of course) But I don't understand what is so chilling of manual transmission!! Automatic is always faster!!! Of course this is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. 😃
Grand car, they look a lot like challengers
Anywhere from 70-74, I'll take it... I'll even take a Challenger ... lol
I will be happy to show my car, his name is Ramblin? because I want to know right to talk in video
"HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT...........!
I will make a video of my car, I'll send you the link, for you to know how are the coaches that walked in Brazil.

painted bumpers make it look weird.
I don't think those are painted. Urethane covered bumpers were an extra cost option. Pretty rare on any Cuda, especially front AND rear. Even rarer on AAR/TA cars.
