    That is just stunning! I hope the new owner appreciates the insane amount of time and effort that went in to it, and I mean "insane" in the best possible way.

    Cool pantograph! Try laying a piece of dental floss across the cavity when test fitting the inlay. It helps removing the inlay when you have one or two pieces to pull up on if they're tight. ✌

    There was several suprises with this one that makes it great in that your final etch and finish are probably what makes it really stand out. For a while just off the thumbnail I was kind of a bit perplexed that it was all murdered out in black and greys, which some people like and I tend to ship most of my carbon steel knives out with a bit of a patina on them
    But it did need a bit of colour so your addition of the inlay I think would be much appreciated by the end owner of this particular piece every time they pick it up

    I thought the grind you were doing was called an S grind. Maybe I was wrong. Thought a compound grind was thicker at the tip, and thinner at the belly.

      S-grinds are compound grinds, but not all compound grinds are S grinds. Compound is just a combination of bevels, in this case it’s nearly “S” but the edge portion is flat rather than convex.

    Do you etch your maker's mark deep and then shield it with nail polish? I need to make mine stand out better in damascus blades.

    • @PrometheanBlade
      @PrometheanBlade  Рік тому

      Yes that’s what I do. DC etch for depth, AC to blacken, shine over the top with paper, mask with nail polish, etch damascus.
