This video obviously didn't go as I expected it too but I believe it's important to include videos where things take a twist and I have to deal with it on the fly. It's the human element that makes a "real" video so much better to watch than a scripted commercial. I hope you all enjoy the video. Thank you for watching.
The only thing that's always on the 12 gauge shelf of my local Sportsman's Warehouse is Turkey Loads and Waterfowl loads, including the high dollar Tungsten loads.
Well done once more. I like a true VIDEO, I know you are going to always give it to us Straight Buffalo. That's why I never miss a video. I am waiting for more on 22LR ammo shoot out.
Buffalo we would watch a 2 hour video of yours . dont sweat the conditions you / we cant control .
Buffalo, you still want those gold dot 22wmrs? I just bought 5 more boxes at midway.
Well Done 👍 🇺🇸 Thanks 🦃
That dang California Windage strikes again.
😂🤣😂🤣
Any feedback about an adjustable Versi- choke? I hear rumors that they can be dangerous.
I love your comment!!!
Isn't that Kentucky windage?..
You Are watching 1 of the Best shooter's on the tube, ya know❓‼️
@@michaelhedgepeth5106 When the gun shoots to the LEFT, that's the California Affect!!!
There is a lot of wisdom coming from this young man and his core character is way ahead of his years. Yet, he is sometimes funny but never the clown.
Thanks my friend!
Buffalo your a good man , we all respect your reviews / testing and opinions . do not ever change
Thank you Mike!
AGREE ! A good, honest, down-to-earth man with whom there is no posturing or pretension... far too rare in this age of fakirs and phonies.
Glad to see the water has gone down and the sun is out Buff - keep em comin'
Me too! Glad to catch a break with the weather!
I would like to see you team up with Paul Harrell and do a joint video. You are both top-flight presenters !
That would really be something! I have never met Paul.
Great job with the video and thanks for putting it together. I really like the way you go about testing and presenting the information. FYI: At 40 yards, my Mossberg 930 puts 151 pellets in the 10" circle with 1.75 oz. Long Beard XR #5 and a Carlsons Long Beard .660 choke. Using the same .660 choke, it puts 259 pellets in the 10" circle with my 2 oz hand loaded #8 TSS.
I’m glad you made this, I have the same shotgun and just bought the same exact turkey loads so I have an idea of what to expect. We’ll see how it pans out with my Cabela’s turkey choke.
Interesting to see how well the supplied turkey choke did. Great video as always.
Thanks 👍 it done pretty good!
Factory chokes can be surprisingly adequate. Great video.
Excellence review and patterning Buffalo. I have a 835 Mossberg...the factory turkey choke is excellent.
Those 835 Mossbergs are the gold standard turkey pump gun in my opinion!
Very nice comparison Buffalo. Very nice detail between the chokes and at a great range. Thank you for sharing sir.🤘🏽🍻👊🏽
Thanks!
I know it's still 8 months of so away, but now I'm craving a big ol' Turkey dinner LOL It's great that you posted this video, even if the results were different than expected, because I appreciate the honesty and realism that you show us viewers! 😁👍🏽
Happy Thanksgiving! 😂 I am glad that you guys enjoy my videos and I don't have to pretend to be something I am not to get views!
Nice to shed the winter garb and see the sun!!
AMEN!
Great review and I like your no BS approach unlike some reviewers that try to sell products for monetary gain. Keep up the good work👍
Thanks one more time!
Thank you!
You already know. Fine job Buffalo. It's good to see things throw a curve ball at you and watch you come up the remedy.
Yeah this one just didn't want to play ball!
I absolutely loved this video 🙂 Thank you Buffalo 💯
Thank you!
I agree, the red dot on a turkey gun is the way to go. Wish your buddy picked up some Winchester Longbeard XRs on that 930, would have loved to see those results. Thanks! Great job!
I like your fair chase hunting ethic. It would be nice if more hunters felt the same.
Hunting is almost a spiritual thing for me. I hunt by a code of ethics that makes me feel good after the hunt and it doesn't matter if I killed a turkey or not. Thank you for the kind words!
I like the way that first choke pattern that shot
Thanks man!
Awesome video Buffalo well done and very informative. Thanks for your hard work Sir.
Thank you!
GREAT video. i have been pattern testing A LOT of different shotguns over the past couple years and have noticed that most shotguns (the huge majority) DO NOT shoot to point of aim. i finally found one a couple months ago that does shoot to point of aim. i consider this one a "keeper". good thing that 930 is drilled and tapped so you can add a low powered scope and adjust point of impact to where it needs to be.
Been shooting the same HS Strut Undertaker choke for years with many different loads out my customized NEF Pardner 12 gauge and it eats em up every time as long as I do my part. I will say for the money and the performance you can't beat the Longbeard XR loads
Flight control flex wads and the older ones don’t like chokes that strip the wad ie the Indian Creek. They offset the purpose of the wad since the wad is supposed to stay with the shot longer. According to Federals website
Thanks for the video. I have a red dot on my Mossberg 590A1 for slugs, and buckshot as well.
Those red dots are extremely useful in certain situations. It took me a while to realize that but I finally came around.
How fast the weather changed where you live are amazing; first snow and ice then a flood and now you are wearing a T-Shirt. A long time ago when spring turkey hunting was new in Pennsylvania Buffer shot shells came in boxes of 25. They cost less for 25 than prices charged for five now. I used them for duck and goose hunting as well as the first spring turkey season. That was before they banned lead for waterfowl. Guess what I still have and still use for Turkeys? Super Double X and Federal Premium 3-inch copper plated buffer loads. I have a lot more 20 gauges than 12 gauges. Now; in the old days I used a trick to shoot straight without the need for adding a rear sight to a shotgun; I refuse to use. Add a small second bead to the rib of the barrel about in the middle or back further. Make a figure 8 sight picture and problem solved. Now; if you use a front bead size that covers the head of a Turkey at 40 yards. You pretty much know you are shooting 40 yards. The more head you see the closer Mr. Turkey is; no muss no fuss. Works for Ducks and Geese too; there is no need for building a sniper shotgun with scopes and such things. Lastly; I use less choke than more. I use buffered loads and Improved cylinder chokes. I want a large evenly distributed shot pattern; not some dense one that makes missing easy if Mr. Turkey gets close. Trust me; if you can use a Turkey call good they get close in a hurry.
Well said man! VERY WELL SAID!
I'm very surprised with the Factory turkey chocke😎👍🥇.
Well done and glad to see the water is gone😇
THanks I am glad that water is gone too!
I'm not much of a turkey hunter, just shoot a lot of trap. Those patterns are really nice size at 40. I didn't think they'd be that tight at that distance. That factory full choke was nice and tight also.
Thanks for watching the video Joshua!
I saw a video this morning with ole Who-tee-who was out shell shopping and got 12 gauge turkey loads they cost him 12 bucks a shell. I'm glad I have a bunch already cause at 12 bucks a shot just to pattern and sight in id never be able to afford to go turkey hunting. It is sinful how they are doing or ammo prices. Great video brother thanks for all ya do for us 🇺🇸. Buffalo.
Wow. I didn't see that video but that is some expensive turkey shells!
Yes sir, another good one!
aint it great to need to head over to the shade here in KY for once. that factory turkey choke is tuned to that gun and on point! Great video Buffalo Thanks!
Yes! I know this response is late but I been loving this KY weather lately!
Shooting to the left notwithstanding here,.. I was surprised that the Mossberg chokes performed that much better than the Indian Creek choke. Oh well, now we know.
Thanks for this.
I was surprised too. But that's why we do these things to see what works and what doesn't. Some of the guys I work with "guaranteed" me that the Indian Creek would shoot a tighter pattern than the factory tube...lol
@@buffalosoutdoors Then, I hope they `delivery` on their guarantee :) Hold them to it, ( for at least a coffee on their dime. Hahaha! )
cool video, I'll send you some recipes for home loads that'll outperform those shells.
Thanks!
The Buffalo compound looks amazing again. Great video! Maybe someday I’ll get out turkey hunting
Thanks I am so happy to get this break in the weather!
@@buffalosoutdoors me too! Spent today detailing cars, would have been a good range day for me, 58 sunny, no wind...
Another great video and your correct first we need to know our equipment and what works for us. Secondly you gave so much good info for old farts like that needs to learn more on these choke set ups. Thank you
Thanks Scott! I sure am glad to have you as a viewer/friend of the channel. I always enjoy your comments and your videos too!
My 930 shot high and right. I installed the shim kit on it, and brought it back to poa/ poi. A shotgun should hit exactly where you aim the bead. I really like my 930, now that it shoots true.
Thanks Buffallo for another great video. Looks like the water is gone after the last flooding. I have been super busy and haven’t been active on UA-cam.
Thanks for watching! The water is gone and I've got most of the mess it left behind cleaned up!
Nice test for a nice shotgun. Those safety glasses look good too.
Hey thanks for that. I picked those glasses up because the have the extra wide frame... very comfortable for my cabbage head! LOL I actually bought 2 pair, one tinted and one clear.
Turkey season is around corner. Maybe this year i might get opportunity to actually go out this year. Time will tell. Good comparison on the tubes👍
It is right around the corner here too, in about 2 weeks.
Awesome video. So important to take the time to zero for different ammo, different game. No need to wound game animals when the opportunity is there to make ethical kill shots. Excellent work here, Buffalo, once again!
Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Another great video Buffalo.
God bless all here
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Thanks Buffalo 👍👍
No problem 👍
Excellent video, thank you for making it. I especially liked the picture within picture.
Thank you very much!
Old timers put the shotgun barrel between 2 trees growing close together or a forked tree and pull on the barrel small easy amounts and keep shooting until you have it centered where you want it. I’m not saying you should do it but target shooters have been doing it for years
Hand tuning!
Buffalo's Outdoors yes sir!
Interesting.... the factory tube ruled....
It sure did! Thanks BB
Thnxs 4 sharing
I was surprised how good a pattern there was at 40 yards with all 3 chokes. Turkey chokes definitely makes a difference.
Thanks for watching Paul!
That factory turkey choke did very well! Shotguns are hard to figure, you just got to try and see, Different shells and shot sizes may change everything.
Thanks Kent. There sure is a lot to it.
WOW 😯 that’s an AWESOME PATTERN. Why do you think that gun patterns to the left so much?
Perfect video , wow all three are still spread wide , I never turkey hunted , I thought it was more focus tightly
I like how you went through and counted them , and explain a lot of do and don’t . , and side by side comparison really helps
Hopefully when you do the reviews , you can explain the history (fun facts ) on why they develop these chokes (the very first chokes) and who came up with it .
That is a great video idea. I'd actually have to do a little research but I enjoy learning about the history of stuff like that anyway so it wouldn't be work. I appreciate ya man.
Nice 👍
Buffalo headed for a hundred K sub's..❓
Deserving as anyone in my opinion!
That would be really neat to see. Maybe it will get there one day!
Very interesting test, thanks for posting this.!
Thanks for watching!
great video Buffalo.
Thank you kindly!
Great video Buffalo. One thing need do test newer shotgun I got with turkey chuck tube I got see dose. I know my mossberg pump with the one load in Xtra Xtra full always shot little high at 25 yards
I've got the same set up mossberg 930 Indian creek. 660 but I have 24 inch barrel my patterns amazing with the Winchester long beard 5 and 6s it likes both loads
Great video Buffalo, thanks 👍
Thanks!
Darn good advice. Thanks for another great video
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Nice job Buff
Thanks!
Well Done 👍🇺🇸🦃 Thanks
Thanks 👍
Just got a 930 Turkey with pistol grip afew weeks ago mine shot left also. Put a truglo gobble stopper red dot on it so it wasn't a big deal. I have the IC choke it shots the federal tss lights out
SOunds like you remedied the situation! Good deal!
Interesting that the factory turkey choke works better than an aftermarket choke that hunters prefer
Yeah I found that interesting too. I am thinking that even though Federal says the Flite Control Flex wad will produce tight patterns from any choke that the stepped down constriction in the Indian Creek tube interferes with the wads ability to stay with the payload longer (as it is intended to do).
I purchased a 930 turkey this past spring. Winchester long beard xr #5. The factory choke turkey. 670 is non ported. I also got an Indian Creek .660 . Factory shot ok and point of aim. Indian creek 5" low and left. I use 3'x3' paper as target. I'm going to try some custom TSS just for fun.
My gun had an awful trigger. I took a Dremal and smoothed it out.
Did your friend ever try out other ammo?
My mossberg shockwave shot very high when I got it. I put a red dot on it to correct it and almost ran out of verticle adjustment to correct it. But it worked. Mossberg said all mossbergs are made for a 6 o'clock hold which is bs since my 500 isn't like that. But nothing I can do about that.
Glad you were able to make it work. I still have never shot a shockwave which is kind of embarrassing since they have been out for so long. I appreciate the comment.
WOW 😯, I’m VERY surprised that the Mossberg Factory XX CT outperformed the Indian Creek CT. Can you explain to me why that weapon patterns so much to the Left. I had a shotgun that did the same thing.
Loved the video as always.
Thanks!
I always enjoy your videos!!
I appreciate that!
I love your videos dude.
Looks like a great gun. Silly question but can you shoot slugs through it? I’m looking for an all purpose shotgun with 24” barrel
The federal ammunition does do better out of none wad stripping choke tubes because federal wads is designed to keep the pellets inside of wad after exiting the barrel to about mid flight but excellent job at testing and redoing the shots to give a good comparison I just subscribe to your channel I just watched a few of your videos excellent jobs one videos keep up the good work looking forward to watch more and keep safe out there
NICE< NICE< NICE!
Thank you!
I know this is off topic, well kinda. But what has been your best patterns tested using the 12ga. Federal HW TSS shells?
What camera and mic set up are you using?
Hay your lake front property left .Buffalo in my younger years I done a little turkey hunting. I my best patterns using. Duplex loads. Don't think they have made them in years tho.
Hey Larry thanks for the comment. Yeah I am so glad things have dried out a bit here and the weather made a turn for the better! Hope all is well over your way!
are you going to remember to hold Kentucky windage in the heat of the moment?
Great video. The factory turkey choke doing better kind of supprised me and really didnt at the same time. In all fairness you would think the after market choke would and should perform better. In most cases it would but this is not the 1st time ive seen a Mossberg factory turkey choke have a better pattern. Not sure what it is Mossberg does with these chokes but for 30/40 yards id just stick with factory and not waste money with a after market.
So is that gun just a fixed bead sight? Hopefully dove tail so you can adjust it for more centered hold? Edit : aah. Okay. Add a red dot.
THanks for the comment~ I appreciate it!
I have a mossberg 935 and i actually prefer the factory full and shoot the same rounds.. you can see it still kills a turkey at 40 yds. In the northeast where I live, there is a lot closer shots than 40 yds when calling in a bird. Yes you can hunt the fields but most of the times birds are roosted up on top of heavily wooded ridges about 250 yds off of a field. If I plan on hunting a field edge I'll bring the turkey choke with me and pop it in the night before. But, if those turkeys hang up in the woods, I'm going to swap back to my factory full choke. My longest shot in the woods has been like 35 yds and the factory full knocks them dead every single time. I've probably missed 2 turkeys in my life and that was at less than 10 yds b/c you're trying to hit him with a golf ball size pattern and we all know the turkey fever you get when that gobbler is that close. To each their own, I don't judge. But i prefer a wider pattern at 20 yds than taking his head off at 20 yds like some guys prefer. Turkey hunting is more about the fun than the kill like a deer would be b/c a turkey isn't filling your freezer like a 180 lb deer would that you'd take a 20 yd or 250 yd shot on it. I'm a new subscriber and i really like your way of thinking when it comes to turkey hunting. 40 yds for me is last week of season, it's hot, im ready to call it quits.
I also want to add.. I shoot the 3.5 in magnums #6 2 oz shot. So the patterns at 40 yds are slightly better than shooting a 3 inch b/c there are more pellets down range.
I'm impressed with your camera zoom. What are you using please?
That zoom is a Nikon P1000
@@buffalosoutdoors thanks!
Factory xxfull was the clear winner.

Flitecontrol wad is not designed for the Indian creek because of the wad stripping rings in it

Never heard from you did you get your Buffalo Head Nickel I sent you 2
No. I never received them Dan.
Buffalo, I know we are in covid times and that things have become a little more lax, but this should not result in us losing our basic values...such as your great, "Hello Guys and Gals, Buffalo here" greeting. Many of us have relied on those simple words to survive the pandemic. That is why, with a heavy heart, I say that today's greeting was a little fast and perfunctory for our collective taste. It was still good, but not filled with the greatness that we are accustomed to hearing. Yes, perhaps you've spoiled us too much and it's time for us to develop our own greeting. But until then, I ask that you please bring back the usual cadence and delivery...one last thing, and I hope I'm not being presumptuous here, but it needs more cowbell! ;-)
I will try to put a little more heartfeltness in it next time. I appreciate ya watching, especially watching enough to know the greeting!
Aonde consigo um jogo pra mosberg?
This isn’t uncommon on shotguns in any price range but I will say it is very frustrating. You spend good money on something and immediately have to spend more to fix it. I am going to have to disagree with you on the shims for me. I put the bead and the rib in the same place with or without shims so all the shims ever do for me is make me take more time to adjust my head and shoulder . The shot result is the same.
I have found the best thing to do with guns that don’t shoot to point of aim is to sell them immediately. Take your small loss and move on. No taking sights on and off for different hunts. No re sighting. No talking to a foreigner on the phone about how a gun is supposed to shoot.
One more thing as you mentioned different ammo will sometimes shoot to a different point of impact. I am referring to the guns that shoot every ammo consistently say left or right or high or low.
Never ever keep a gun you aren't happy with it will only lead to excuses down the road. However I stand by my statement about the shims. Shims are the most under used accessory that come with a shotgun and at the same time the most important.
@@buffalosoutdoors I use them and agree with you about being under used. What I am saying is for me they don’t correct my point of impact. They make pointing a gun much more easy but they don’t trick my eye into looking down the barrel any different.
If a 22 with iron sites shoots a 6 inches to the left can I just shim it and make it shoot on target?
I could have the best gun and gear available and I still would fail as a turkey hunter. I can’t sit still long enough. 😕
My trouble is that when I do sit down and get settled in I fall asleep! LOL
California Windage right there
Maybe the gun doesn't like that ammo?
Agreed.
🤩🤩🇺🇸🇺🇸👍💪💪👍
Definitely cannot go wrong with a Mossberg I have to 500 12 gauges one's a turkey gun the other ones and all-purpose general for bird hunting waterfowl and skeet shooting could've chose a much more better gun than that
Thanks, I appreciate ya taking the time to comment!
