Very helpful, articulate and informative, thank you. The only respectful challenge I would pose is that because most people engage with social media on their phones, it might be worth uploading a 16:9 landscape video over a 1:1 square version, particularly when users know to rotate their phones to get the best viewing experience. Also, on desktop, you can always view landscape videos in full-screen mode. Either way, an engaging video will find its audience, no matter what the format. (Like your video!) Hope this helps, and thanks again for the tutorial.
Brilliant work Alec- clear, helpful, well illustrated, beautifully paced- an example of what an excellent instructional video should be. Thank you. Keep up the fine work!
Hi I tried posting a 16:9 video on linkedin but they added black bars on top and bottom, I saw your video of the 16:9 and it didnt have black bars on top and bottom. May I ask how you uploaded your video?
Can you focus on thumbnail sizing for LinkedIn videos? I'm having issues where the video doesn't get black bars but our video on mobile is showing black bars on the side, no black bars on desktop. What's the correct dimensions for a thumbnail to ensure no black bars on desktop and mobile.
I don't get why LinkedIn themselves recommend 1:2.4 and vice versa. In my opinion, 1:1 is the best way to go, if your video needs to look good on both desktop and mobile screens. If you can't get the visual message across with 1:1, just use 16:9. Your audience can rotate their phone if they want to.
What is I save the video with subtitles in veed and then download it and upload it on Linkedin. Few people might not be aware of selecting cc. So they might be missing on subtitles if they need them. Can we directly post with subtitles?
Hi Alec. I've made a 25 second PowerPoint (3 slides with animation) in 1 x 1 aspect ratio (square) as a MP4. However, when uploading, the whole frame isn't displayed; as though it is too large for the LinkedIn frame. I've tried reducing the quality from 1080 to 720, but it didn't make any difference. I'm unsure if it will correct itself when posted, but don't want to risk it just in case it doesn't. any advice? Thanks in advance, Dale
thank u for your guidance. really appreciated. I'd like to ask something. I posted my video embedded Turkish captions manually by me. ( it charges money fot the translation now.) when I checked , linkedin also aoutomatically added subtitles in its original language. therefore there were two subtitles under the video. I linked no automatic subtitles, and then all the subtitles disappeared form the visitors view screen. but in my host screen I still can see the subtitled one in Turkish. :) Is there a soltion or its too late :)
I find it difficult to upload videos on LinkedIn. Then I was advised to use chrome to do so but the issue here is that I can't find videos option when trying to upload .
Hi, Sir, Im trying to add a video to an article I have written on LinkedIn, but when I selected add video to my article it says there are embedding problems. I think other people experience the same problem, can you help, thank you
Hi there! Once you've exported your video, you should have the option to now automatically embed said video into your website. We'll also been making videos on this shortly, watch this space!
Hi Alec, whenever I upload a native video in LinkedIn it seems to be pixelated on mobile but clear in browser? I followed all the aspect ratio and file sizes. Could you help me with this? Thank you!
Hi Jerlin, unfortunately LinkedIn is most likely compressing it a lot after upload to reduce the bandwidth on their servers. Not much we can do here. Thanks for watching!
Hi - great and succint video, If I'm planning to embbed a UA-cam video Link in a Linkedin post, ideally what resolution and aspect ratio should the UA-cam video be - so that it also looks good on Linkedin? I'm doing this loophole, because I have a video that's longer than 10 minutes Thanks
Quick question: recently a client ran into the issue that some 16:9 videos do get bars on top and bottom to make it square-ish. I came across this recently in my feed as well (all on desktop). Anyone know, why this is happening? First I thought it was a problem with embedding UA-cam videos, but I also saw it on natively posted vids. Thanks for any advice. Anyway, thanks Alec for this overview at the start, since I'm not that familiar with Linkedin, it's much appreciated!
Today I went ahead and posetd the video even with the bars. I used only desktop. The display before posting is what shows a black bar above and below the video, making a square. But when the video was uploaded, it was 16:9 with no problem! Maybe it's just a display thing. Didn't affect the actual video at all. Good luck!
Hello thanks for your video it is very clear and very Helpful. I am looking at how to create HD videos in LinkedIn as my uploaded videos are blurry despite having my source as HD. If you could give some advice, it would be awesome. Thank you for your help. Cheers Mate
I love the site but is there any play with background textiles? Like on Canva you can directly play around with fun backgrounds rather than just colors. Is there an option to Google a textured background and upload it to replace the colors? Also, more text color options would be fantastic. Thanks!
Hi Alec, Many thanks for this video tutorial. Good advice. If I want to get copywrite free (quality) background music or background music i can buy for LinkedIn videos is there any site you would recommend.
We'd definitely recommend embedding the captions into the video. It just means that you have more control over it so that its more accurate. We have videos on our channel that can help with this :)

We are creating for the user they aren't adjusting to our preference so if it stands out more as a 1x1 that's the more ideal format as he mentioned :)

How do I get my LinkedIn video to replay automatically? For me, when I upload a video - it plays, but doesn't repeat once it's finished the playback.
