One thing I'd like to quickly make note of.... Really wish I didn't use the phrase "copy paste" when referring to the level design. While it uses the original as a base, many areas of the game are SUUUPER different. And even the similar ones have a lot of little changes. Copypaste is often used to describe low effort, which isn't what I meant at all! I just struggled to find a better phrase/word for the idea in that unscripted moment. So pretend I said "if they're basing the levels on the original..." instead lol
Also please do some old PS2 classics like Gregory Horror Show or maybe a funny one like the Lifeline PS2. Your review of Clock Tower GhostHead always made me laugh...
I love how Luis pretends to be Don Quixote in the remake, and later you find out that he loved that novel as a kid. Even Leon recognizes in the end he was a good knight 😢
Funny how people think Ashley’s original voice actress is annoying yet she is a part of most of our collective childhoods. She is the voice of Sandy Cheeks from SpongeBob.
"Nostalgic" doesn't mean something is good. I didn't like Ashley's original voice. I still don't really like the remake Ashley either. She still acts too helpless too. Sandy Cheeks sounds ok.
Now that I know this... I can actually hear similarities between OG Ashely and Sandy Cheeks. Always learning something new about RE4. Last week, I found out that you can find a red herb a couple of steps forward after rescuing the dog
@@mickeymickey9914 I actually watched that right before getting sick. Ended up having fever dreams about AI buddies giving me pistol ammo and I started panicking because my inventory was full. Then RE5 Chris started running against my bedroom wall because he couldn't find the stairs down, occasionally passing me more pistol ammo. It was a long and painful night.
@@Ihatevideogames334 oh yeah you’re talking about that avalanche guy right? Isn’t he the guy that says survival horror can only exist with fixed camera angles? Like I get everyone is entitled to their opinion but the idea that games like RE2 Remake isn’t survival horror is a joke.
for anyone who didnt know, you can actually freely use your knife to open crates. It doesnt use any durability. It only goes down when you actually use it on someone (so parry, attack, stealth atk, finisher, even attacking dead bodies count xD but not crates/barrels).
I'm gonna be a nerd here but I use the dashing knife attack to open boxes more quickly when I'm going for a high rank or whatever. I'm pretty sure it's way faster than the kick and it's easier to angle it so you can hit two boxes at once. I thought I was wasting my knife for a second here watching this video lol
I love the sense of continuity of Leon's character between RE2R and RE4R. You can tell he's the same goofball, but his training and experiences since 2 have left him jaded and emotionally stunted. He's no longer shy and naive, doesn't react as strongly to the horrors he witnesses. He would never tell someone to shut up in 2 like he does to luis. It's almost tragic how focused on the mission he is yet still lets his old self peek through. You can tell that in another life, he would have liked doing laundry and taxes with Krauser. In the original 2 and 4, he felt like two entirely separate characters.
Wholeheartedly agree. Leon is a much more well-written human character now compared to his older renditions. Not saying they were bad but looking back now, I find it rather jarring he maintains his somewhat goofy attitude despite all the terrible shit he’s seen and experienced in Raccoon City. Remake Leon makes much more sense where he becomes totally jaded after years of traumatized experiences and yet his old self is still somewhat there to keep him from going totally insane.
luis is also a scientist in the original and its also not verbally told in the game, its in one of the notes you find throughout, you might even miss it, i love how subtle it is and that they kept the subtlety in the remake
The game also has a phenomenal amount of cheese-ability, and that adds to a level of experimentation. For example, you can throw a golden egg at Ramón during his fight and that knocks off about 70% of his health. I legitimately hope we see DLC for a remake of Ada's Story as well, I think that'd be the perfect cherry on top of everything
I WAS SO MAD DUDE!!! That fight took me an HOUR of trying (I was on hard mode) and when my girlfriend gets there she's like "check this out" biffs an egg in his face, unloads the shotgun, and the fight's over in seconds! I COULDNT BELIEVE IT
The absolute amount of skips in this game that don't require game breaking bugs are wild and I appreciate the hell out of them. The egg thrown at Ramon is hinted at by the game telling you to throw it at his painting, but then later on you learn you can shoot the bell on the tower at the beginning of the game to cut that whole section short. Or even the wrecking ball portion by throwing 3 heavy grenades at the wall. I can't wait to see what the dlc's have to offer and with how active Luis was in this game vs the original, I'm kinda hoping we get a dlc to play his half of the game too
I'm just happy that they brought back the "detras de ti, imbecil" (behind you, imbecil) voice line. Heck, they even made it so that if you're fighting with Luis, the line changes to "detras de vosotros, imbeciles" (the same in english but in plural form).
I love visiting the shooting range while Ashley is following. It feels like this very wholesome and cute date, with Ashley cheering you on but in a realistic way. She's not like "Oh my gosh, Leon you're the coolest and most handsome man in the world", instead she seems more enthusiastic and encouraging in a realistic way
My memory might not be working right now... At what point does Ashley in the original say " oh leon you are so cool!" Not only that, but Ashley compliments leon a LOT in the remake. Every 3 or 4 headshots she kinda says "COOL!" or " GOod one Leon" , in the original during fights she did a fist pump at best every few headshots.
Date? I see Ashley as kid-like or immature compared to Leon. That she looks up to him. I think Ashley is kinda annoying. Tho improved from the original. I think it's amazing and am glad Leon is able to be patience with her. Platonic people can be enthusiastic and encouraging to each other.
@@user-gu9yq5sj7c Ye waste the breath in ye very lungs. This be the dynamic of two fictional chatacters being discussed in a video game-related comments section. In places such as these, there be no platonic interpretations of such things, as these be lonely corners of a most tragic darkness.
@@HenriqueHCA14 I kinda disagree. The Arkham games' counter system is super forgiving, but RE 4 Remake's parry system takes inspiration from Sekiro (Which I like a lot). If you play any difficulty besides assisted, you get punished HARD if you fuck up a parry. Especially if you play Hardcore or Professional. Unlike Sekiro however, you cannot just hold the button and block as a temporary safeguard. You have to time the parry correctly. In Batman the enemies clearly telegraph their moves, and that just makes it seem like they want to be countered. (And as a souls player) the harder difficulties in Batman do not really mean much when the counter system in the games are super easy to understand and play with. The RE 4 remake handles this a lot better with enemy attacks that are quicker, more eccentric, harder to react, and much more punishing in my opinion.
I love weapon durability and it makes sense for survival horror and survival games. I only think the time it doesn’t work is when you put like 50 steps into getting a thing only to get like 2 uses only for it to go “yep that’s it gone forever”. RE4 does it fine but I think that’s what people means with mechanics like this
I think of animal crossing too. You finally have your 5 star island after 2 months, your town is pretty much decorated to your liking, you have nearly all the villagers you want, yet you still have a "maxed out" shovel that breaks after 60 uses. You'd think you could get to a point where you could further increase durability or get rid of durability altogether at that point. They should make a very rare material you can collect where if you get enough you can make your tool last forever, or at least a really long time. I understand this definitely isn't a survival game tho lol
@@MedievalWaffle365 I totally understand, I don’t think animal crossing sound have had tool durability but at least if they where going to do that they should have made it that everything functions the same but the golden tools don’t ever break, it feels like a slap in the face that you work so hard to get most of them only for them to still follow the same durability rules
@@Strawberry_Cubes they actually added durability to their latest game, new horizons and it really turned me off from the game, along with a multitude of other unrelated issues
Agree, its a great survival/management thing but i havent encountered a non survival/survival horror game where I prefer it over something like limited ammo
One of those "Let's do something completely different now," sections I actually really liked was the Anima sections in Evil Within 2. You're still playing as Sebastion, you still have all your fun toys, but the Anima is a spooky singing ghost. You can't blow it away, which forces Seb, and the player, out of his comfort zone in a more organic way.
Fun fact about the auto-sort! It's not optimal. There's been a few times in my playthrough where I couldn't fit something in my inventory like a new weapon and auto sort said "no that won't fit lol". BUT, manually sorting I managed to stuff it in there regardless! While initially I had the same thought of "damn this is kinda lame" those couple moments definitely changed my perspective on it. Thinking of it more like a way to keep the action up during fights where you're picking up a bunch of stuff so you don't need to stop and rearrange your whole case every couple seconds. I do wish it was even LESS optimal though so I get to play around with it more lol. Unrelated but there's a whole ass puzzle game called "Save Room" which is legit just the RE4 attache case but you have to find a way to fit all the junk into a set space. It even has item crafting and weapon loading.

RE4 is already a perfect game in my eyes, tank controls and all. To remake perfection and keep it feeling absolutely fucking perfect is such an amazing accomplishment. It’s so cool that they made everything so familiar but just different enough to make it an entirely unique experience. Both versions of the game stand toe to toe with each other in my eyes and I couldn’t be happier to say that.

Fun Fact: the "password" in the Ashley section never changes (though hardcore/professional has a different one from Assisted/Normal), so when replaying the game you can skip a pretty decent chunk of that section if you remember it. Turns it from a mild annoyance into a minor distraction on repeat playthroughs.
with the ashley part you can actually skip a large portion of it, as on repeat playthroughs you'll know the clock puzzle answer & be able to just rush the last room!
@@supersoupy4709 They had speed runners in mind because OG RE4 had a HUGGGEEEE dedicated speedrunner community, and they wanted to give them a tribute. Like, you can actually skip the first village encounter by shooting the bell on the church, then theres a point where a big rock blocks your way in the mines, which you can skip by shooting it was a RPG.
Can we just take a second to appreciate the masterpiece that is the RE Engine? It's holding up like a champ since RE7, and always delivers such reliable performance. I've never had a tip-top of the line computer, but I've been able to run all of the RE engine games maxed out with no issues. (Excluding Ray Tracing on the newer games, but I notice very little difference between the standard lighting and ray tracing)

IMO weapon durability is fine in horror and survival games because it adds to the atmosphere and makes sense in terms of game play. Resource management is usually one of the focuses of those types of games anyway. But for most other genres, I find it tedious and time consuming. Just because it's something to do doesn't make it good. I don't want to go back and waste time collecting the required materials to re-craft the same thing over and over again because it broke after three uses, when it should have been a readily available tool in my bag after I already spent effort to get/craft it the first time around. (Only exception is if the game makes the re-crafting super easy and something that I can do on the fly.)
@@weclock What a weird claim. I've heard people argue over whether RE4 is closer to a "survival horror" or "action horror" game, but never that it's somehow not a horror game. RE4 is very much in the horror genre.
My argument personally is that the knife would be broken if it didn’t have some form of punishment for over relying on parrying or the counterattacks. The durability does both that and fits with the tone established in the previous remakes starting with 2.

Still going to argue against you on BotW durability. Eventually my decisions boiled down to stockpile 30 royal broadswords and just use whatever random best trash I got to not waste the broadswords until I need them. All my decisions got streamlined into a shit ton of non-decisions other than "is this random weapon worth opening the menu, dropping my weapon, and getting the new one?"
When I beat this game, I immediately wanted to play it again. I think it blends the action and horror perfectly. It uses the music so well to add to how tense a situation is. I think the thing the game does best is how engaged you feel when playing. The constant on edge feeling just sucks you in and there is just something about the gunplay that is so fun that kinda makes you want to fight more enemies.
While I usually don’t like weapon durability, including in Breath of the Wild, I’m actually okay with the knife having durability here. Because the knife counterattack from the previous remakes returns and now can parry enemy attacks as well as perform stealth instant kills and stop any parasite heads from popping up, it would be way too broken if it didn’t have some catch like durability to punish players that over rely on the counterattack or parry.
But players are already punished by using too much ammo and using the knife in situations that wouldn’t work for it. Why punish players more? Besides, it won’t work with hordes of enemies.

@9:00 preach brother! I have the same opinion. Not saying everything should have weapon durability. However when it’s baked into the core design it works so well.
This remake is pretty dang good. One of my favorite parts is how the developers edited the cheese spots so that couldn’t use them, that’s pretty funny lol
25:46 oh, not just that A doctor at the umbrella labs that made nemesis... And nemesis in the re3 remake seemed to have plaga elements to him... And Luis is a native to the region the plot is set in and likely knew of the plagas when he went to work for umbrella So its extremely likely that Luis was involved in the creation of nemesis.
RE 1, 2, & 3 would make a fun little Halloween series, I think. But covering the more obscure ones would be awesome, because they're just so hard to find much on. You'd do great on covering those, I know it, and hopefully it'd be something enjoyable for you.
33:00 thank you for bringing this up, as someone who generally hasn't been wowed by "state-of-the-art" graphics for at least a decade (generally preferring anything but that), it was only recently that I realized that having aspects of that style contribute to things like a game's atmosphere is far more interesting than just extreme photorealism on its own and makes it feel far less like it's just meant to bring in people who paid way too much for their PC's graphics card. Like to bring up a couple of examples, having Supergraphics didn't stop Control from going absolutely wild with its art direction, and Red Dead Redemption 2 despite clearly aiming to be The Most Photorealistic Game Ever at the time still benefits extremely heavily from things like its stunning sense of lighting adding even more to its lonely atmosphere. The recent REs have benefitted from this sort of thing too and I'm glad to see that this continues that!
I would love it if you covered the classic trilogy! You always have great analysis when covering games, so it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on one of my favourite series.

One thing that I like about the Knife durability that I don't see alot of people mention is how good it feels to use it wisely. Let me explain. When fighting an El Salvador (chainsaw man) you can stun him with your gun and kick him, but if you kick him into a wall he'll flatten up against it stunning him for longer, but THEN you can run up and do a powerful, context sensitive, knife against them that uses little durability and does HUGE amounts of damage. You got the biggest bang for your buck right there and it feels awesome. To me it does feel good to manage a resource wisely. Like pulling out your magnum for a boss. You know you were saving it just for that.
A very well done video on the remake! I'm excited to get it, prolly with this next paycheck lol Also, regarding RE reviews, I think I find the videos where you look at odd games to be the most fascinating, so maybe it would be interesting to start with those oddball entries for RE as well?

If there any I can criticize the game, is that Salazar and Saddler were a lot weaker. This is largely because the communication hijack were replace with allies' phone calls. Not only does this cut out some of the best interactions from the original, but severely undercuts their presents in the story. Saddler shows up so late in the game, you practically forget he's in the game.
Durability in RE4 & BotW are two completely different things. The knife can be repaired at the Merchant while weapons in BotW only has that option for select story related weapons/shields that are garbage. Not to mention the durability of weapons in BotW in general are pathetically weak. Tears of the Kingdom appears to be doing durability correctly by allowing you to be your own blacksmith so now you can choose get rid of a weakened weapon or hold on to it & fuse it for something better.
Nolifed it on release two days straight. Felt like coming home. Also, though it's definitely an unpopular opinion, I'm super glad they evened out corn and cheese compared to the original. Makes it land much better for me. P.S. Heck yeah, Gaiden please.
Disagree the more cheese the better, it was on the nose and knew how dumb it was. So disappointing that they almost entirely removed it's charm in favour of yet another generic dark horror.

What pulls you in and makes it appealing? I've played the whole series minus 6, CV, Village, and the two Revelations games and OG RE4 misses the mark by a country mile compared to the rest. Not looking to argue just looking for a different perspective, because every time I try to get into it I just feel like I'm sitting through a tone-deaf slog of a boring game. Idk, I like the setting/environments, sound design, and dialogue, but man that gameplay is pretty awful. The QTEs are particularly horrendous.
@ChrisMDB I'm sorry, but if you don't like the gameplay, there is nothing I can tell you that will make you change your mind. But I'll try my best to explain why I love it. -The combat to me is some of the best in video game history. It basically feels like playing an action movie. I love the headshot stun into roundhouse kick into knifing on the ground combo, looking out for traps, the frantic pacing as you try not to get swarmed, the different weapons you get (which get even more fun when you unlock the others after several playthroughs) that are super satisfying to use. -The enemy variety is great, and their aggressive behaviour keeps the fights eventful. -The controls did feel a little awkward on my first playthrough, but once I got used to them, I couldn't get enough of the gameplay. The game is built with tank controls in mind, so once you get it, it feels much better. -The dialogue and story are cheesy as hell and make me smirk every time the (very qoutable) characters have their banter. It's very different from the classic RE games (I also love them) in both gameplay and tone, but it's an experience that's too fun to stay mad at. -Also, the qtes aren't that bad, but that's just me. -Ashely can be a pain at times, but she's a lot better than most escort quests with the little things they add to her, like her ducking out of fire or letting her hide. -Even little things like sorting the inventory are fun because it adds a little more thought to how you use the slots you have than "take this thing, leave that thing." -There is so much to unlock, which adds tons of replayablity, whether it's the main game or side modes like Mercenaries I adore this game to death.
@@CeHee123 You're probably right unfortunately, but I do appreciate seeing other perspectives on it. I hadn't really thought too much about the enemy variety because I mostly struggled against (what I perceive to be) slow, clunky gameplay. In hindsight I'll probably like the remake much more because it seems to play more similarly to 2make. Tank controls aren't really the issue per-say, as I was fine with RE1-3+REMake and 0. Idk, there's something about the gameplay of 4/5 that really bothers me, difference with 5 being that it's co-op and I can just turn my brain off and have dumb fun with it. Totally agree about the cheesy dialogue, that may be my favorite part about the game aside from the authentic Spanish they used. RE4 was one of the first multi-language pieces of media I encountered where I could understand everything that was spoken by the characters and it was a pretty cool experience.
Crates dont damage your knife Also, zelda, your weapon breaks and its gone forever and it breaks after like 3 hits. Re4 knife is repairable, you can upgrade it to be more endurable. By the end of the game, knife health wasnt an issue anymore. Zelda weapon mechanics is just bad.
These free-form videos are great. It's nice to see them coming out more. I mostly just like your taste in games and your general view on things, so it's not always necessary to pour in tons of hours to make engaging content. You, James, are the engaging content!

Heck, RE1 - the remake and OG - is one of my favorite games ever! I'd be stoked if you covered any installments in the series, mainline or otherwise. Also, looking forward to your Blue Stinger review!
I indeed, cheat in unlimited durability in Breath of the Wild due to how terrible they make the whole system feel, and indeed I started having *_significantly_* more fun. There are ways to make resource management fun and engaging, BOTW did, more or less every single mistake possible there.
I'm surprised you haven't played the original Re 3. I think even if you don't like it, your style of review would be really cool to hear considering games have been trying to replicate the Nemesis stalker mechanic ever since

Something to note is that if you can manage to pull off a perfect parry, the one where Leon doesn't stagger back, I'm decently sure the knife durability doesn't go down. So if you have good timing, you're rewarded in that front. Also, did you know the game actually has bullet travel?
im pretty sure a perfect parry still reduce the durability sadly but it usually open up a better counter (even knocking them down so you can finish them off with a 1 shot knife attack)

Agree with virtually everything you said here (especially your comments about Luis!). I grew up playing the classic Resi games religiously, but RE4 is easily the one I played the most. The fact they were able to respect the original game's design while modernising it in a way that still keeps the spirit of the original is honestly insane. Most the new areas and enemies were things that made me think, "Yeah, I could totally see this having been in the original game back in the day. This fits in well." Not only are Capcom incredibly talented developers, but you can really feel the love and care gone into these remakes, with RE4R easily being their most impressive remake to date. I mean, OG RE4 is one of the most beloved games ever made and they somehow not only matched it, but made a game that you could argue is better than it. Massive kudos to them! Also, while it'd be absolutely awesome to see you cover the more obscure RE titles, I'd love to see your takes on the classics too (namely 1-3 and CODE: Veronica). Since it doesn't sound like you'd have nostalgia getting in the way (like I would!) it'd be a really refreshing review, I think. Also, Blue Stinger for Halloween? Holy shit, let's go. 🔥
The dialog between Leon and Ashley is so well done, there is this part after Leon meets back up with Ashley after fighting the Garrador and Ashley asks what happened down there and Leon doesn't want to scare her even more just says "Nothing, but you're right about there being animals down there." it's this combination of professionalism, not wanting to frighten Ashley and telling a joke that happens all at once.

I'm surprised to hear you're not the biggest fan of the classic Resident Evil games considering you seem to really like old horror games. RE1 through Code Veronica are some of my favorite "old school" horror games of all time.
@@NitroRad It can be a tough game for beginners since there are some admittedly unfair traps, but the story, villains, music, setting, puzzles and several of the monsters/bosses are among my favorites of the series. Code Veronica tends to be pretty polarizing among the community (which I've never really understood), so I'm really curious what your experience with it will be.
@@NitroRad Well hurry up then haha. Community is clambering for a code veronica style remake and I bet you it's going to happen in the next few years give or take. I sadly never beat the game damnit! I was playing it on my pals dream cast back in the day, beating it for him because he wasn't good enough I guess lolz. Got to the very end and guess what? No more health items... And I was limping from damage... Got to a part where you need to be at decent health in order to move quickly. It was against the Steve boss. Some guy who's good but turns evil and you gotta fight him. It suuucked... Could never get passed that part due to my slow movement... Didn't have a recent save to go back to because I was stupid. So yeah... Remember to play smart and save separate save files more often lol. A mistake I didn't make in signalis that seriously helped me. Sux too, I'm pretty sure I was like 30 minutes from beating the game!
@@NitroRad word of advice keep a guide handy and a check list for items handy because if you forget a key item you can’t go back to it and you have to restart the game
I will never understand your hatred for “Run and Hide” horror games bro. I love SH and RE but I’ve personally always found those type of games to be scarier. A lack of choice can be just as if not more effective, knowing that the enemy will not and can not be deceased but only escaped from. Amnesia will still continue to be one of my favorites along side SH.
Gonna have to disagree for the weapon durability. Sometimes the idea of something is great, but in practice it just isn't. This is all subjective of course, but at the end of the day weapon durability is just annoying to me in most games. Im stressed enough as it is in real life so I just wanna play games to have fun, I dont want to have to deal with annoying shit. The idea of having to make a bunch of decisions like that sounds cool, but sometimes I just wanna shut my brain off and not micromanage every item in game. I guess if anything id just prefer an easier level difficulty for people like me who just wanna relax and not have to stress any more than they have to
I'm late so someones probably already answered this, but to answer your question, YES, you can skip ashleys section. The goal of Ashleys section is to find the hand position for the grandfather clock, and if you know what it is already, you can just put it in and skip it almost entirely. The clock hands change depending on difficulty. 11:04 on easy/standard and 7:00 on hard/pro difficulty. This comes with the trade off that Ashley can't collect the treasure exclusive to her section because she misses a key to unlock them but its good for replays and speedruns regardless!
Personally what surprised me the most was 3 mechanics that I despise in modern gaming ended up being some of my favorite additions to the remake: crafting, stealth, and weapon durability. Crafting was in the original but to a much lower degree. But I found it really useful here bc I got more choice on what ammo I wanted than only waiting for pickups. Allowed me to personalize my arsenal more. I didn't end up with a glut of useless crafting items or wasting time collecting them when you could have just gotten the items themsleves. I actually felt like I was always hoping for more. Stealth wasn't forced or necessary ever or had any instant kill mechanics; it just felt like another option to add to my strategy. I like that it's a more general system. Where you don't really know if you're detected or not but works enough to trim the horde a bit. It actually makes sense for Leon to use (even if a knife to the neck from the back is a one shot but to the front isn't doesn't compute). And knife durability was a smart move bc your knife is a beast now. I saw it more like limited ammo (like every other weapon) and made you be smart with how you used it. The first game had an issue with knife spamming to save ammo so this allowed the devs to really expand its use without it becoming OP. All these systems in other games often feel like padding or the dev just not having any ideas to create challenge. But Capcom knew what made us love the original and expanded on the gameplay with modern tropes to ironically give you more freedom imo.
You're an incredible daddy Nitro Rad I love you babe!...

for anyone who didnt know, you can actually freely use your knife to open crates. It doesnt use any durability.
It only goes down when you actually use it on someone (so parry, attack, stealth atk, finisher, even attacking dead bodies count xD but not crates/barrels).

I COULDNT BELIEVE IT
@@NitroRad it's funny as hell but seriously that fight is annoying as fuck. Glad I don't have to fight him next time.
I love it when games give you a different way to tackle bosses.
I can't wait to see what the dlc's have to offer and with how active Luis was in this game vs the original, I'm kinda hoping we get a dlc to play his half of the game too
It's that kind of cheese that makes this a schlocky action game and not a horror game.
She's not like "Oh my gosh, Leon you're the coolest and most handsome man in the world", instead she seems more enthusiastic and encouraging in a realistic way
Yeah, like how she freaks out a little at you if you shoot one of the sailors.
My memory might not be working right now... At what point does Ashley in the original say " oh leon you are so cool!"
Not only that, but Ashley compliments leon a LOT in the remake. Every 3 or 4 headshots she kinda says "COOL!" or " GOod one Leon" , in the original during fights she did a fist pump at best every few headshots.
@@yusukeelric even says Woah when you shoot some far off target like a zealots head or a blue coin that's out of range
Date? I see Ashley as kid-like or immature compared to Leon. That she looks up to him. I think Ashley is kinda annoying. Tho improved from the original. I think it's amazing and am glad Leon is able to be patience with her. Platonic people can be enthusiastic and encouraging to each other.

One of the most important changes I wanted and it happened
@@HenriqueHCA14 Well any gameplay in general is just pushing buttons at right time my man.
@@HenriqueHCA14 I mean yeah but the difference is if you fail, you don't immediately die.
That kind of stuff was not cool, not even back in the day
I love weapon durability and it makes sense for survival horror and survival games.
The knife was indestructible in the original. That’s my only real gripe with the game.
I keep hitting the god damn auto sort by accident and then having to spend five minutes rearranging my entire case back to how I like it lol
Or give the option for auto. Sort to work and just choose not to use it if you wanna tetris
So I don't know if this was intentional, but Ashley's VA in the original was actually the lady who voiced Cindy Vortex. And Sandy Cheeks.

This isn't a survival or a horror game though, it's an action game.

Man I really liked Ashley's section compared to the original. The American version didn't even have the isometric camera angles like the japanese
Been watching your channel for so very long and your excitement for games always puts a big ol grin on my face, and extends my owns passions for them. I love your positivity and viewpoint and its been so nice to see this channel and your relationship with games change and morph as much as mine has. I'm looking forward to what comes next always!!!
Hearing you talk about the RE4 Remake - especially given your love for Slient Hill - makes me hope you'll end up reviewing more Resident Evil games in the future. Your Silent Hill reviews are still some of the best videos you've ever put out (in my opinion) and I'd love to see Resident Evil get the same treatment. I think you'd have a lot of interesting takes on the series and its evolution - seeing as you're a big fan of survival horror in all its forms - so I'd definitely tune in for that kind of content. Until then, great video as always!

A doctor at the umbrella labs that made nemesis...
And nemesis in the re3 remake seemed to have plaga elements to him...
And Luis is a native to the region the plot is set in and likely knew of the plagas when he went to work for umbrella
So its extremely likely that Luis was involved in the creation of nemesis.
Yeah that's now confirmed. Just compare the umbrella team 6 photo to that original file regarding nemesis and the same team number!

RE 1, 2, & 3 would make a fun little Halloween series, I think. But covering the more obscure ones would be awesome, because they're just so hard to find much on. You'd do great on covering those, I know it, and hopefully it'd be something enjoyable for you.
Hell, if he wants to really try something interesting, he should play the DS version of the original Resident Evil 1.

I'm excited to get it, prolly with this next paycheck lol
Also, regarding RE reviews, I think I find the videos where you look at odd games to be the most fascinating, so maybe it would be interesting to start with those oddball entries for RE as well?

NitroRad, I love your videos, dude. I get a little rush of dopamine every time you upload. ❤️
Thanks for bringing a video out so quickly about RE4. I really appreciate it and enjoyed it.
Breaking boxes with the knife does NOT use up its durability. I’ve tested this on multiple occasions, there is no penalty for breaking boxes this way.

-Even little things like sorting the inventory are fun because it adds a little more thought to how you use the slots you have than "take this thing, leave that thing."
-There is so much to unlock, which adds tons of replayablity, whether it's the main game or side modes like Mercenaries
I adore this game to death.
True OG's remember the Zellers bargain bin
I was pleasantly pleased with how faithful this remake was, but the decision to change Ashley into a mouse was a little perplexing
please cover the entire series, i just love video essays + analysis so much
"Should it replace the original?" That's a stupid ass question when the OG game is available every freakin' where!
My toaster, bathtub, and toilet can play RE4!
i wouldnt mind nitro rad talking about re3 original, that game is so much better than remake its insane
Crates dont damage your knife
Also, zelda, your weapon breaks and its gone forever and it breaks after like 3 hits.
You, James, are the engaging content!
this is one of the few games nowadays where my only complaints are really only nitpicks(Like weapon bloom can be a pest at the shooting range, really the biggest issue and its not even bad)
Which is a nice change of pace

Their chemistry is just monumentally better here than in the original. Hell, I want this to be the girl for Leon- forget Ada.

I'm surprised to hear you're not the biggest fan of the classic Resident Evil games considering you seem to really like old horror games. RE1 through Code Veronica are some of my favorite "old school" horror games of all time.
I reallllly need to play Code Veronica!
I guess if anything id just prefer an easier level difficulty for people like me who just wanna relax and not have to stress any more than they have to
My problem is the knife was indestructible in the original. Why change it, when ammo is limited anyways?
I'm late so someones probably already answered this, but to answer your question, YES, you can skip ashleys section. The goal of Ashleys section is to find the hand position for the grandfather clock, and if you know what it is already, you can just put it in and skip it almost entirely. The clock hands change depending on difficulty. 11:04 on easy/standard and 7:00 on hard/pro difficulty. This comes with the trade off that Ashley can't collect the treasure exclusive to her section because she misses a key to unlock them but its good for replays and speedruns regardless!
Not gonna lie I still think the original is the better game. I think it has way more character.
