Update: I didn’t mention the R8 because it uses tiny RP batteries, doesn’t have a sensor cover & other flaws + it’s not out yet, I haven’t used it to recommend.

Its not bad camera, its IBIS isn't well tought for video as it is for photography. You cant get all at once unless you pay a lot more.

Canon R7 is everything I wanted the Canon 90D and Canon 80D to be
My camera set up is my 90D and my R7. I love them both for video and stills. The image Stablization is very good on both. I got the R7 so I could do better video on a bright unny day. Since I can shoot video through the view finder and holding it up against my face like that allows me to hold it very steady.
Love that you rent cameras to try them out. Gear reviews seem to be on the up and it’s a nice way to do it. Love the vid man. Who knows, maybe can test out a Nikon Z6 since you tried out the Sony the other day. I’m sure they have adapters for the system👍🏼
other than waiting for that update for that adapter.. have you figured out how to turn off that warning sign when you turn on the camera?

YT honestly breaks the grain after compression but it def gets noisy! Still good image on YT 🔥

I also own an R7 and a Canon speedbooster.
I recently discovered that when using the speedbooster, the IBIS has abnormal movements, which is quite troublesome.
I don't think Canon will fix this problem, so if I want to use it, I need some solutions to solve it (such as completely abandoning IBIS and using gimbal).
By the way, do you have any recommendations for APS-C lenses for shooting videos with the R7?
Canon Sigma 18-35mm F.2 is really good for The R7! Need the adapter
Yup. I use the Sigma 18-35 1.8 on the 80D and it's a great lens for APSC bodies. I would also throw in the Canon 35 f2 as a contender for APSC bodies.

I used it on the R7 the whole video lol, it's made for the C70 but works for the R7.

I do think the ibis with the speedbooster goes super crazy, I heard other people saying this, I think is a no go with the booster, but I've seen other videos saying the Ibis is pretty good overall, not much wobble! But cool video anyway, not too deep tho
Interesting. I’ve found the ibis to just jerk back and forth when changing direction with & without the adapter. Fun camera overall & works great when not comparing it to anything.
I have R7 and R6 with 800mm(1280mm) f11 and 70-200mm f2.8 is usm II + 2x canon extender for everyday carry depenting on weather. I love canon innovation on these 600mm and 800mm choises for budget super tele reach which you can't get from other brands atleast yet. It bizzare how you can just take 1280mm lens and shoot steadily with it. I have also heard that other cameras are wobling with IBIS while vloging so this isnt anything new.
Thay should add more options how IBIS behaves so you can lock certain directions where sensor can't and can go to reduce wobling while doing video.
Still this IBIS is great for photography.
(Still waiting for canon to open RF mount for other manufacturers)

I love my Canon R7. The video quality is amazing! While it's not perfect. I've never seen a perfect camera to begin with. No matter what brand or model. I have a 5D mark III so I do know the advantage of full frame over cropped sensor. But I like using cropped sensor for video. But full frame is best for stills.

The R10 is more akin to being a replacement for the Canon Rebel i series of cameras such as tge T8i and etc. The specs definitely match up more to that. The R7 to me replaces the 7D mark II and the Canon D series such as the 90D.

I'm leaning to R7. I've always used APSC cameras so the crop doesn't really bother me at all. Also I already have a ton of those batteries and would fit on my gimball, whereas with the R8 I would need at to invest in at least two more batteries to spare. Also extra card slot for recording on the R7 if need be. so... hell yeah

Lumix s5 being full frame would be a better buy or Sony fx30 in my opinion.
Those cameras are great! I wouldn't say better though, that's completely subjective. Sony & Lumix have flaws like this camera as well.
Nah! The S5 is notorious for having a bad AF! Not worth it if you’re shooting gun and run stuff. The AF loses so much focus and snaps to random stuff on the S5
What abouut an R8 as it does not have ibis and is full frame?
It has tiny RP batteries & doesn't have a sensor cover, personally I can't use a camera that doesn't have the same batteries as my others. Workflow issue for me.
If anyone on this budget looking for a camera get it. I have it I don’t regret it it’s dope

@DaelyteMediaConcepts I mean, you can get a used eos R for like 900 bucks, the RP is a great camera, but now I don't see a reason to get, it lacks a lot of thing, especially in video, but if you shoot photos, like portraits or weddings can be a good buy, if get one used, but when R8 get available it will be a really good choice for the entry level full frame

R7 humm I almost got it 😊 but why not ??? I’m still on my DSLR’s lol (6D, 90D, 7D2 ohhh and M50 ) lol, I do have mirror less cameras from Canon but they are crop sensors but don’t hate 🤪😂., I’m a full time photographer and a videographer 😜😜, I do have Sony’s also 🤣. R7 I have friends that LOVE IT for Bird 🦅 pics AMAZING & friends that do sports also (2nd camera.. 1st is R6 or R6ii) .. I guess you have to see your need.. is this your first entry to mirror less, are you just starting out in photography? Or videography? I agree R7 & R10 could be the new Hybrid Rebels 😇… I’m looking at R6ii or R5 😱🤪
IBIS does suck for video , probably makes better sense to get the R8 at the same price and skip the need for the speedbooster . I do hate canons ibis for video, but for photo OMG i love it.

For the price of the camera and then to pay an additional $500 to convert the camera into a full frame you might as well get the Canon R6 because that way you can have the best of both worlds. I’m starting to believe that a lot of these companies are just paying you guys to tell us only great things about the product and not the truth. You can basically get a canon EOS R and have some great abilities as well.

You’re absolutely right, however it’s not out until April, I’ve never used it to recommend & in my opinion, it has a ton of flaws! Spec sheets & actually experiencing using it are totally different 🔥 Looking forward to trying that R8 tho!
I wanted the r7 only cause my sigma lens made for crop sensor. Go r8 n my lens become useless

Is it me or does this camera struggle to focus? It’s terrible
Honestly, I think all Canons mirrorless systems have a hard time focusing in darker scenarios & jump around hard in general. Besides MAYBE the C70.
