@@kirtil5177 got distracted while trying to do it, so far I can tell it doesn't work if you sprint - but I suppose it might if you don't sprint and just jog instead - and it doesn't work for heretic, but iirc they have increased movement speed. After few initial botched attempts I didn't have enough patience to get through the game without items increasing movement speed. Maybe I'll just try to launch game on drizzle when ill have time, checking this on monsoon probably wasn't a good idea

The composer, described this song as a satellite(as opposed to a sequel) of coloesence because you need the gravity of cololesense to fully apericiate it.
Not only is that a good way to describe it’s relation to coalescence, but it’s a nice nod to the game since the final stage where this song plays is on the moon.

Something very interesting about this track is the difference in context between now and when it was first added to the game. The song belongs to the final stage and is meant to lead up to the final boss. That has not changed. The stage itself has. The current state of the stage is a small gauntlet which can either act as a bit of a victory lap or as a wake up call to how incredibly underprepared you are. It's fun, but I don't think that's what the song was intended for. The original state of the stage was a long and empty path with a few turns and scattered debris to keep you occupied. You'd encounter a few enemies on the way to the boss, but the sparsity of them really allowed the player to almost exclusively focus on the music, visuals, and just overall art of the scene. In that original state, it truly made for a beautiful and solemn moment for any player that had the opportunity to experience it. By contrasting with the constant fighting for survival leading up to this moment, I believe this song found a way to unexpectedly make many players emotionally vulnerable to possibly even the point of getting misty eyed or even crying.
Biggest true, I strongly prefer the old final stage- I don't ever even go for Mithrix anymore because of it. The buildup was just pure magic, and the stage was set perfectly- with a wide range of movement speed increases it also matched perfectly. The first two times I got to the stage I was convinced they had done dynamic music for it since all the major beats nailed *exactly* when to hit. It captured and also contrasted with Contact Light/Coalescence with immense precision. While on a pure gameplay alone perspective I get the change, it makes sense and largely is "better" in that way. But if you go to the stage your run is effectively over anyway, so I don't understand why the real need to forego the pomp and circumstance. I would absolutely love it if they updated it again further to function like the two new void stages; the "trial" section either being probably before the old stage/vibe (hell even stop the timer at that point, really send home the point of finality) where then the second 'zone' is dedicated to "the walk" followed by the fight as it was. I'm obscenely tired, apologies if anything is hard to read xD
I miss that original stage. The mood it set for this song will be forever burned into my mind. Obviously the new one is better gameplay wise but I can't help but miss it.

@@rokcetman6913 having to walk for a long period of time before getting to the boss is less engaging than the beacons. Like it's not that the old one is bad gameplay wise, its just less fitting for the gameplay loop the rest of the game has already set up which works well for atmosphere but the new one is more in line with the rest of the games gameplay. It feels like dead air a bit but the original felt way more so
What I love is that Chris was almost "joking" about "Coalescence 2" all up to the moment when this dropped on the RoR2 update, and we all lost it. Literally, "Coalescence 2" but bigger and more soulful. Hope you didn't miss that connection!
The Risk of Rain 2 OST is just phenomenal. Those guitars are just... so yummy. The Survivors of the Void DLC brings even more great music to the already fantastic soundtrack, you should give it a listen. My favorite tracks are titled "The Face of the Deep" and "Having Fallen, It Was Blood"
You can tell chris put his heart and soul into this song, I didn't even play ror2 until it was fully released but this song still gave me chills and made me emotional. With how he used the song drops in his video to go in line with the transitions showing the updates over the years with the game, and the call back to the original song from the original game that this song is based off of (coalescence), If I was with this game since ror1 I have no doubt I would've been crying my eyes out once hearing this emotionally charged beauty of a song with the backstory on top. Truly an unforgettable song with such a rich history. I never truly appreciated music until hearing it.
The song alone doesn’t capture the moment you get to the last level and all you see. Is this vast open space of nothing but a few robots and a few buildings the song portrays it perfectly. There is nothing but vast space getting to the final level and hearing it play was rewarding. But this is not the final song there is one more the boss song. And it fits the boss perfectly your gonna need a bigger ukulele.
@@AtlasBenighted I think a good way to view it is the slow distance notes are ment to represent the emptiness of the level. There isn’t really a level in the game that I can recall that has such distance notes. And your gonna need a bigger ukulele is quite literally the follow up song but anyway thanks for covering the song.

I discovered YES bc of JoJo's endings. Fragile and Close to The Edge are one of my favs album of all time, didn't hear too much of their other ones except 90125 and yeah.. its kinda hit or miss...

Anyway… day 93 of requesting House of Sacred Remains from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. Beautifully atmospheric track and one of my fave's from video games in general. It'd be awesome to hear what you think of it. It's the theme of a level set starting from a cathedral and ending in the crypts through lots of library areas, it's not a particularly significant or infamous level at all but I think the track really reflects the hallowed grounds housing sacred relics beautifully. The 4 minute upload from the Castlevania Sound Team is the one to listen to.
Hey this is my first time commenting i have been watching your reactions to many of my favorite game osts i do have two songs that would need to be played together that absolutely blow me away everytime i hear them in the order of Kings Then Coronation from Project Wingman.
First time I heard it, made me think of Rainbow (the prog band from the 70s) + Rick Wakeman, Yes' keyboardist, like you mentioned hehe. This song pleases the "57yo dad's music taste" in me (Im early 30s, for the reference)
