I love how he took this opportunity to show his annoyance at getting the same question, over and over interview after interview, about not doing Strapping anymore. The middle finger was directed at SYL's fans and interviewers alike, but in a nice way. A nice middle finger.
3:59 good point, when bands change people get mad (some fans appreciate evolving bands but some don't like it) and others are mad when bands stay the same (each album sound strangely familiar)
I’m gonna get hate for this, but, Devin is an overall better musician than Devin. Don’t get me wrong, I think Devin is alright. But Devin is WAY cooler. 😎
One of em composes for Strapping Young lad and other heavy sounds, the other makes Ghost etc :) I think that this interview is somehow a nice way to joke about his bipolarity and stuff
Dev is an intelligent guy, but he utterly failed with that Metallica/bands-changing-their-names analogy. The difference between HIS musical change and Metallica's was integrity: he changes styles because he truly has the need to make different music, and Metallica did it in the 90s (and later) just to make a lot more money. After all, everyone knows that Lars and James are the greediest bastards in the entire metal scene.
He didn't "utterly fail"... You seem to be more focused on the kind of change being talked about which is actually quite irrelevant. The point was that there was a change - it doesn't necessarily matter (especially in this context) what type of change or how much of a change it was.
***** I'm glad Metallica changed. They had already made music that I loved, and then they made different music that I also loved just as much, if not more. Maybe they did it to make more money, but that doesn't mean they made garbage. But you know, some people's garbage is somebody else's gold. I'm also glad Devin has made so many changes throughout his career, because that way I get tons of diversity without compromising the quality, and always with his touch of genius.
You obviously have no criteria, so all the power to you. I wish I too could love EVERYTHING my favourite bands release, whether it's genius or just trash. I do actually differentiate, which is why you have a lot more fun being deaf - and loving everything your faves make. Sort of like the happy idiot who doesn't know he's an idiot.
"If there were two omniscience's I would be both."
"We're fucking brother, you and I"
It's not what he said, but the way he said it that made it so hilarious.
"I've always wanted to fuck you, brother!" Almost spit out muh coffee! Love this dude!

Best ending to an interview ever! Works on so many levels. Only Devin.
"you're damned if you do if you're damned and your don't" lol devin
Never change, Devin. Never change.
He is just my favourite person XD
I've always felt that I needed to be close enough to somebody, intellectually, to be able to know exactly how they like their rim tickled.
I know this interview is supposed to be comedic, but there is a lot of truth with some of Devin's points.
I just can't even be surprised that things went that way.
Devin is a special kind of....thing.
Devin seems like a genuinely cool guy
Only he can pull this off, all hail Devy!
i saw it coming, but the delivery was spectacular.
The 6 dislikes are the 6 people who can't understand " Whaaa?? how 2 Devins? How???"
2:25 hahaha I love this man.
This is fantastic.

The interviewer seems to have absolutely no idea who he's talking to.

It doesn't matter whether the change brings about good music or garbage? Really?
That sounds like idealistic piffle.

I think he's make extreme music once his kids are teenagers.
Illuminati cloning center confirmed! Wish their were whole communities of Devin clones!
