    Thank you so much Devin for putting into words the things that I could not articulate in person. Any time someone asks me why I don't eat meat I never know exactly what to say. I usually just tell them it's too complicated to explain. For me to properly explain why I do what I do it could take a lifetime. I know there is logic in my reasoning, but there is no way to say it without being somewhat preachy. The only thing I can say for sure is humans don't NEED to eat meat. People eat it for pleasure.
    Society has gotten to the point where we can choose how to live our lives. We pick where our constraints come from and how we can learn from them. People may wonder why I would put constraints on myself. Why listen to heavy, angry music? Why choose to not eat something delicious? For me the answer is duality, a rule that everything in the universe has to follow. If you don't pick what you will learn from, then the world will.

    it is interviews like this that make me want to cast my vote for devin to be both president of earth, and spiritual guru of earth. Like, could u imagine if this world were run by devin, uggh just think about it. it would be a utopia. i mean he would be very sick & tired of the job after about an hour but for the rest of us it would be just swell.

    And I was talking about the comment that mentioned this: Our physiological requirements for animal sourced nutrients (B12, retinol, K2, choline, DHA/EPA to name but a few) cannot be ignored.

    Dev is a really smart guy, and I mean that not necessarily because what he's says about food (I'm not a vegetarian, but i'm kinda sympathetic with them^^) I mean in general.

    Quand je vais chez mes parents, ils me proposent de la dinde et du steak ! Et je leur dis : « Non merci, je suis végétarien ». Ils me répondent : « Ha, oui, c’est vrai ». »

    I agree, you don`t have to fight with other people and to become a preacher, but you have to inform people about the way animals are treated and killed and the way meat can harm their body , if more people knew more information i am sure many will become vegetarians

    Wait hold on, did I see some kind of Ziltoid smoothie at the end there? That's awesome!

    The ironic thing with this is that Devin Townsend's words are making me want to become a vegetarian MORE than an activist XD
    Meat tends to kill inspiration for me, so maybe it WOULD make more sense for me not to eat it.

    For some reason I read 'nipples' in your comment. i had to re-read to find the source of this mysterious word and didn't find it.

    Tu comprends ?

    @psyoptica Your mentioning of the food chain is as ludicrous as that fact is obvious. Individual tolerance of plant foods varies, but a veg*an diet isn't optimal for anyone. As for the study, the one I had found mentioned this: "The proportions of plasma EPA and DHA were lower in the vegetarians and in the vegans than in the meat-eaters".

  • @countlambda
    @countlambda 13 років тому

    @psyoptica But throwing around studies is like beating a dead horse. Conversion of ALA to EFAs is inefficient (below 5%), which perfectly exemplifies our maladaptation to plant based nutrition. Animal foods contain the forms of nutrients optimal for humans.

  • @countlambda
    @countlambda 13 років тому

    @psyoptica Do you realize that ruminants have four stomachs optimized for bacterial fermentation and digestion of cellulose, whereas humans cannot digest it? Have you compared the digestive track of an ape to that of a human? The human colon is too small for achieving optimal health while trying to depend on SCFAs et al. from bacterial fermentation, not to mention a host of other problems arising from such a tactic.

    Peu importe la raison : ce qui a le plus de sens pour moi spirituellement et émotionnellement, c’est de ne pas manger de viande ! Est-ce que j’ai raison ? Est-ce que j’ai tort ? Qui sait ?… Certainement pas moi en tout cas. (fin)

    @JamesGod08 It can't be denied that a proper vegetarian diet can easily be healthier, though. There are plenty of reasons for that dietary choice, though I sure as hell don't follow it.

  • @countlambda
    @countlambda 13 років тому

    @psyoptica Haha, my diet is already 100% animal based. I feel good, better than before. I'm not somebody who preaches without following his own advice. As for your "arguments", it seems I was adressing yours much more thoroughly than you did mine. Your latest one is also untrue, but I've already wasted too much time in this "discussion".

      You're so fucking smart! It sounds like you've really done your research! In a modern era where you can synthesize any chemical on the face of the Earth, obviously meat consumption is an absolute necessity. Come to grips with the fact that you just love eating it, which is fine. By all means indulge, but judging from your tone I can't say it's doing you all that much good.

    @getagripcanada Even chimps eat raw meat. As much as they can get.

    @JamesGod08 I would like to see you eat it raw....lol. If what you say is true, we were this way BEFORE we knew about fire, therefore you should be able to eat any meat raw.

    @psyoptica Saying "The other things you mention are readily available in plants" is simply a lie. So is your "bottom line", but you're welcome to try depending on genes we last used 6 million years ago. That's where what adaptation we have for plants stems from after all. You realize of course that at the rate agriculture is going, topsoil will be depleted in less than 50 years, so it's not like you'll be doing the world any good while sacrificing your long term health.

    Rrrr... Entendre un végétarien dire que manger ou non de la viande est un choix personnel, c'est toujours énervant... Et la vache, la-dedans, Devin? À toujours vouloir ne pas brusquer les autres, on a un impact niveau 0 sur les causes qui nous tiennent à coeur.
