the vline documentation mentions that the factory backup and front-facing cameras will all be retained with the vline. My 2017 RLX (Advance pkg) has a camera switch/button on the end of the turn signal lever. I’m curious how that switch is monitored by the vline. If the backup camera is activated by reverse, which requires a p-tap on the reverse wire, how is the front-facing camera activated or detected by vline? Is an additional p-tap necessary on another line? I’ve watched a lot of the various vline videos for Acuras, but haven’t heard any mention of the front facing camera or any of the acuras that have said camera with a dedicated switch.
Tapping the reverse wire is not for the reverse camera activation. It is in general for the VLine to be recognized by your stereo. In fact, some installers make a mistake when they connect the VLine without tapping the REV wire, and the backup camera keeps working. However, the VLine will not work without tapping the REV wire. In other words, all automated factory functions are retained with the installation of the VLine system. There is no need for the additional wire P-Tap.
