i lift/practice every morning, play again at night. i’ve done this for years and I feel like my technical skills are great, but the mentality and psychological aspect has been what has held me back for years. it is much harder to overcome than a skill/physical problem. your videos have helped me even though i have only watched a few of them. it mostly helps me realize i’m not the only one who goes through this, making me and it feel more normal.
I had this same problem the way I fixed it was just playing pick up and learning how to have fun then eventually it translated over to when I played in my high school games and practices
Thank you so much i started platingat 13 through 6 years of playing i averge 0 points 0 assist and 0 rebound, every leage i joined i didnt have stat bc of overthinking anxiety, like 13 untile 19 my current age i dont have score and stat, after watching this i watch this again and again, Untile i joined this current league and now throufh 6 years of playing this the first time i scored!!! And it was 20 points !! I was crying( tears of joy) becaus i overcome my fear that was holding me through th years, Thank you so much

the beginning of my sophmore year i dressed in a varsity scrimmage because of how i had played against them in practice but as the season went on i went from a guy who could score to basically just a role player only in for defense. Most of this was because of nervousness and i didn’t handle it well so nothing i practiced went into games
Thanks.. I came here because 3 days ago I was so nervous that I turned the ball over for 4 times in three mins. I am a benchwarmer so it is my opportunity to prove myself, and it really shattered my confidence when that happened.
I always been one of the best players in my high school and I started playing on varisty at the age of 15. My dribbling and shooting were different. I haven't put these things on the court yet, I've been struggling with that for a long time. Now I am 21 lol. Thank you for your video. It helped a lot. Good luck. Looking forward to watching your next video.
i know this video is old but it helped me so much, i had 2 practices this week one yesterday and one today. yesterdays practice i did horrible todays practice i followed all of the advice and clamped ppl up and had 10+ pts
You explain everything so well. It was helpful to hear details of your experience and ways to help it was the best explanation I’ve heard. Thank you for this video!
I mean I can get into that point where my mind is blank, but sometimes I just can’t get it like one game I got 16 points and got 8-10 and the game after that I was trash I got 2 points and 1-10 shots. And maybe help me in the future with me cause people say I’m the best player on the team but at some points I look like a person that does not even know how to play basketball.

You always say to not overthink it. But if I make a mistake how should I think so I wouldn’t make it again because I can’t say that I didn’t made one. I don’t know the difference of realizing the mistake and fixing it or just overthinking
I can stop overthinking instantly with my mind. My stress just goes away nearly instantly in literally any sport I do. I never meditated or anything, just had this ability to completely relax my whole mind without forcing anything. Do I still have to do this?
My younger self always wanted to play for my own school now I have made it to the team. But the thing is everytime my coach is teaching me plays I can’t seem to remember instead I get really nervous and then when it’s my turn to perform I mess up and coach puts me out everyday I am paying very close attention even to small things. I am not even talking or listening to any distractions and yet I still don’t understand the plays and now like I just feel so nervous coming to practice, and this also makes me not want my friends and family come to my games. Please help me

Yes, but at that point it would be better to do 2/3 of your breath into your belly, and 1/3 into your chest, however long the breath is (ex. 4 seconds into your belly, 2 seconds into your chest, then 2 second out from your chest, and 4 seconds out from your belly). Coach S.

Can the breathing in for three seconds and exhaling for six seconds can be applied when you do a mindful meditation sir?
Yes, but at that point it would be better to do 2/3 of your breath into your belly, and 1/3 into your chest, however long the breath is (ex. 4 seconds into your belly, 2 seconds into your chest, then 2 second out from your chest, and 4 seconds out from your belly).
