Gotta say, it does take a bit of setup, and some time to do it, but the results are very beautiful if you ever feel like trying it. For large batches it's probably too much work to UV resin each bead. But glazing with varnish an be really pretty too - and probably better suited for metallic papers. But aside from the UV resin, hopefully the section on eyelet sizes and application may also be helpful. I think my next tutorial is going to be on making Pyramid Beads. Lol did you try your hand at the Box Beads yet?
I did try the square beads. Total fail for me. For some reason I don’t have the patience to pinch the sides each time to make that square shape 😅. The information in the eyelet size was quite helpful. I laughed at myself for never haven’t thought out before and I got to try making a few beads. I didn’t post a video on that though. I varnish typically with diamond glaze. If ever I have to use UV resin it will have to be for a project for myself or someone quite dear to me.
Im sorry to hear you had difficulty with the square bead. The "bend and pinch" is key to make it work. I would like to suggest to try it one more time before giving up on it. It is really nice to have a variety of shapes for the paper beads. I did try the diamond glaze, and I was really surprised! It looks almost the same as uv resin. I compared the two side by side. But when I handled the beads with the diamond glaze it smudged a bit, kind of taking that shine away. But i'm thinking maybe I should have dried it longer. But it really does have a beautiful shine. How long do you usually let yours set to dry?
@@juls.creationsI will try the square beads again. 😊 I first of all do two dips in PC petrifier letting them dry for 30 minutes between deeps and then another 2 hours. Then I apply two or three coats of diamond glaze letting them dry for 15 to 20 minutes between glazes and then leaving them overnight to dry. It sound long but between the drying phases I am busy doing other things. But I guess the UV resin will be more durable and have greater glossiness.
Hmmm...I'm not familiar with pc petrifier. Will definately check it out. Thank you for sharing with all of us. From the description it sounds like a lot of time between processes. Im wondering if the uv resin might be quicker. I pre-cure each bead for only 1 to 2 minutes. Optional second layer 1 to 2 minutes more. (2nd layer almost looks like glass) Then I final cure the whole batch for 15 mins (while I do something else) and its done. But there are many ways to glaze, and i gotta say the diamond glaze has a really nice finish also!
For some reason I haven’t tried using UV resin before. Maybe someday.
