Mocha AE Planar Tracker for Absolute Beginners

Want to learn how to create advanced visual effects? In this tutorial I show you how to use Mocha to track your shot and add advanced visual effects to live action footage.

Mocha can help you track shots that would be hard to track using traditional 2D point or feature trackers because it is a PLANAR TRACKER. A planar tracker uses planes and textures to track as opposed to points or groups of pixels. This allows the tracker to stay on track even if your shot contains motion blur or a very shallow depth of field.
Mocha AE comes included with Adobe After Effects and is available since CS3 and there is no reason for you not to use this awesome tool to make it easier for you to track your shot, replace screens or rotoscope!

I've never managed to get Mocha data copy pasted onto a null in AE where it's smooth. For some reason the data always has bumpy shakes in it every time, no matter what I do. I've tried starting from the beginning of the clips, I've made sure the clip is at the same frame rate... :( sigh wish someone could solve this dammed annoyance for me.
If you can... I'll think you're a God!

I'd be really happy if you could make a tutorial about 3d tracking face and wearing a 3d mask such as ironman or maybe wearing a chestplate...

Have you looked into the newish face tracker for after effects? If you wanted 3D as in reverse light ray tracing (like how digital 3D animated films are made) then know it will take a hell of a long time to render but it is possible with things like blender and the popularity of the program means there should be a lot of resources to show you how to do it.

Did anyone find a good solution to this? I was able to track a 3d head over my head using green screen and 3d camera tracker in AE and then exported that camera data into C4D where I added the 3d model. It seems to work ok, but I want to see a tutorial on something more like tracking an entire body to add 3d clothing etc. I'm guessing a full green screen suit with track markers would work, but has anyone tried it or made a tut?

for some reason it says "unsupported or corrupted file" when i open mocha. do you know how to fix this?

i found out how, u export as a PNG or JPEG sequence, import the sequence and then use that for the tracking

Today I started tracking a big project I am working on with the use of mocha!
everything went well, but when I selected the X-spline tool and clicked on the first point, nothing happened :(
A solid was created and a green pin showed up , but I can't see the mask.
What am I doing wrong?
