  • The Mil Mi-24 (Миль Ми-24) "Hind" is a large helicopter gunship, attack helicopter and low-capacity troop transport with room for eight passengers. It is produced by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and was introduced by the Soviet Air Force in 1972. The helicopter is currently in use by 58 countries.
    Just remember folks, this review is based purely on the model, not the situation that is currently going on in the area between Russia and the Ukraine. Its all about the diecast here!!! Thank you!!
    Today's example is from Panzerkampf Models. It is 1:72nd scale and made of diecast with plastic accessories. The model is of the Mil Mi-24 "Hind" Gunship, from the Russian Air Force. It is made reasonably well with good detail, although I found it had a missing in-flight nose wheel it is still a great little model. The magnetized fitment of the ordnance is also a great little addition.
    Thank you for checking out our video, I hope you found it helpful in some way and if so please throw us a like or even subscribe if you wish to be kept up to date with our latest releases ‪@heavymetaldiecast‬
    Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

      Yes the only diecast "Hind" prior were the offering by Amercom i think, which were the magazine type ones. Easy Model do them, but of course are plastic not diecast 😀. This is a fairly decent offering for sure 😀

      Yeah these things would sound amazing. I'm reminded of a movie where they would here a "Hind" coming and the rotor sound was like doom approaching, haha. Closest I've been to a Russian made chopper was when I was in East Timor in 2000/01 and there were UN ones flying about. 😀 They would give me the 5am wake up call every morning,haha

      Haha awesome, let me know if yours comes with a in-flight nose wheel. I would be interested if it was just mine or if its an oversight by the maker!!...I do need to get there CH53 but have been finding it hard to get one cheap enough here. Nearly $200AUD a lot of the times...so hopefully I will get myself one at a good price as they do look really nice!!

      @@heavymetaldiecastSo I received mine today and mine did NOT come with an in-flight nose wheel. Doesn’t matter as I typically like my helicopters in landed position (especially when the stand has the helicopter facing upwards… wish they’d have them face downwards!). The landing gear however is very weight-sensitive to the point I had to glue them on! Detail is great though, I wonder how Panzerkampf gets their models so light considering it does seem to be made out of metal!

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  7 місяців тому

      @@RinsedCheeks glad you got yours and you like it too. Yeah I think I mentioned that in the video about the main landing gear not liking the weight of the aircraft on it, glad it wasn't just me,haha. Well it seems the retracted nose wheel for in flight doesn't come with these as a few people have said the same. It's only minor but for those fussy collectors they might get a little annoyed. I mean it can be rectified but for the price of these WW2 shouldn't have too 😀. I think maybe the make them out of titanium 🤣 hence why they can be expensive 🤣

    I’m thinking about getting one from The Flying Mule in March. I wanted to see if one could pop the canopy glass off to redo the cockpit details and figures. I was able to do that with Italeri’s 1/100 die cast snaptite kit with excellent result. This looks like a great model with the exception of the cockpit/figures and weapons. The Yak-B/UV barrels and S-80 rockets are chunky and warped. I’m sure I can scratch build with plastic card, tube and brass wire. That cockpit, I’m not sure if I could pry it off in one piece. I’m hoping it can pop off with a flathead and delicate pressure. What seems to set this apart from the Italeri 1/100 kit is that it seems much much lighter (Italeri’s is solid die cast heavy), the landing gear and troop compartment. Italieri’s is configured in gear up with the troop compartment doors not opening. The blades are also black and super delicate plastic while these looks much better.

    • @heavymetaldiecast

      Yeah a lot of people don't like the pilot details. Oh for sure you could improve this yourself to create something your more happy with. This has some really nice details and is a great base to start with if you choose to modify it. The Panzerkampf models seem to be made out of some weird metal, as they always seem to feel light. I had that with a Rafale fighter as well, almost felt like plastic,haha. I have also heard from some people that have bought the model recently that theirs has been including a retracted nose wheel for in flight which is good, they seemed to have included that missing part now. Which mine was missing and a number of other people I've spoken too have also had that part missing!! Thanks for checking out the video and good luck with your modifications....and may the diecast gods smile upon you when you try to get that canopy off!! 😉

    Looks like it has a bad join on the left hand fuselage just above the nose gear area , Great review apart from that joint gap ....as it looks to me. In the UK

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  5 місяців тому

      The join on mine is a little noticeable in that area yes, I am just hoping it was just the way mine was built and is normally a little cleaner. I'm not sure what the QC policy has been with Panzerkampf as also missing the retracted nose wheel. I have heard from people that have bought more recent versions of it that the nose wheel is included now so maybe they have rectified a few QC issues and with any luck that join area may also be one. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and comment, I appreciate it. Cheers 👍

    • @heavymetaldiecast
      @heavymetaldiecast  6 місяців тому

      They are a pretty generic pilot figure. Make a cover for the canopy in 1:72 scale like its protecting the cockpit from the sun. Then you can display it and hide the crap pilots,haha. I don't usually care for pilots myself personally, like if i have models that come with pilot figures to put in I don't put mine in when I display it 🙂 Unfortunately we are pretty limited with options for a diecast "Hind".
