very nice diy video thanks..my car's speedometer needle is shaking at certain speeds, probably cause the dried up grease isn't dampening the cable anymore. saves me money from buying a new one...i used silicone spray from crc to lube the ends of the cable and since it's a dry lube..no leak or spatter to worry about
You won't find this info in the manual. I had a speedo cable break on my 49cc Taotao. The Chinese grease is low quality and hardens over time. I swapped out the grease in my Evo as soon as I unpacked it, so I don't anticipate any problems. PS there are several upgrades you'll want to do to a Taotao scooter. I recommend searching for "Taotao ATM150-A" or "Evo" on the scootdawg forum. You'll find my posts there. Glad I could help!
Do the throttle cable too. I had Rolling Wrench do mine when they did the post delivery inspection. They had a special gadget to spray lube in there. Also, on the engine side of the throttle cable, there's a short rubber sleeve that you might want to cut off (where the cable exits the sheath). Rolling Wrench warned me about these sleeves binding and causing the throttle to stick at full throttle. They gave me the option and I said get rid of it.
Does the manual recommend removing the factory greese... or is this just a good idea. Have you had any problems w/ your EVO? I'm probably going to get two (for my wife & I). I'll be watching alot of your videos. Thanks.
What causes the speedo to stop working?..I have the same type of bike. I have bought a new speedo.. I am not sure if I needed it...What do you think. Thank you..

Should I grease the ends of the cable?
