During WWI, Italy and Austro-Hungary fiercely fought for control of the Alps on their respective borders. The fighting was among the fiercest and toughest in the war and produced some of the most elite soldiers. During the fighting on an area now called Blood Mountain, both sides launched artillery barrages at the same time resulting in a massive avalanche that buried thousands of troops on either side. To this day, those men are still up there, frozen in time. On occassion, the snow melts enough for a body to be recovered, his equipment and uniform perfectly preserved.
"I feel like somebody thought up Sabaton just for me - metal music, killer guitars, epic vocals... and HISTORY!" I have never felt a comment more, this is absolutely how I feel about Sabaton.
@@BracchiAlessandroFineArt I listened to the first half and thought "What is he on about?". The second half I was just laughing!! As an aside - I think IKEA's strapline should be "I love it when a plan comes together"? So apt!
To this day new bodies are being found "Blood Mountain". A few years back I remember hearing that the newest body they found had been so well preserved by the snow and freezing temperature that they were able to identify the solider by an old family photo alone.
Something strangely heartwarming is that those battlefields are starting to thaw, exposing the bodies that were left behind. A few years ago, some equipment was found and some bodies were recovered and sent for proper burials. Those boys finally get to go home after over a hundred years.
I was there at the Glasgow show, and my mind was blown when they played this one. The vocals, the song, the lyrics, it truly was visceral, especially when they had the snow come down during it... Even in the pit it genuinely felt like you were there.... And yes i belted this one out along with them. Definitely going to see them next time they come to Scotland
December 13th 2024 it will be 108 years since this massive avalanche happened and burried thousands. The ,,Blood Mountain" is the name for Mount Marmolada in today´s Northern Italy.
It's amazing what music does to us. There are a limited amount of tones. You add rythm to it. Combine tones together and all of a sudden our heart is resonating. It grabs us by the throat. What is that? Music = wonder.
The band was not actually in the Alps for this video. From what I heard ,they filmed it in a parking lot, on a very hot day. Song is on the 2022 10th album, The War to End All Wars.
There are two really fun Sabaton songs you've missed, or at least I couldn't find that you've reacted to and those are "Devil Dogs" and "82:nd all the way". Those are pure energy boosts and I think you'd love them.
Such an epic song and a great reaction (as always). So jealous that you got to see them in Glasgow (pain killers and all). Sabaton are are at thee top of the list of bands that I need to see live. Keep up the good work, Dom. Looking forward to the next one. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺🤘
Great song, great video! There's a reactor who analyses music videos, she was pointing out where the boundary between studio and background was but also praising them for the job they did of not making it obvious. And yes, a perfect song for the car.
Yeah can't beat sabaton for giving out absolute bangers 👌 have to say " dreadnought " is another absolute anthem from them 🙌 have a fantastic one stay safe take care all the very best to you 👍👊
Who doesn't know - great note and song. Who knows - they are still there today. Several thousand soldiers have been at their posts, on eternal guard, for over 100 years. Most of them didn't even know when they started eternal guard. Frost and snow were their biggest enemies

So that LOTL song is not one of my favs. Gonna be honest I think I’m stuck in the Thornstar Era. Judas had some bangers but this last album didn’t move me when I saw it live. I’ve been to quite a few of their shows and done some reactions to them.
Loved your reaction, I had a long text written but i deleted it coz it got to depressing. Sabaton just finds these stories frozen in time. I wish i was 30 years younger coz i feel i was born in wrong time. You got to listen to the ex guitarist Tommy Johanssons channel! (Sabaton) She's gone cover by Steelheart, Phantom of the Opera where Tommy does the both parts, Christine and the Phantom. 👋🏼🇸🇪
Of all the fronts during WW1 i think i would rarher take my chances in the air. Only fighting the cold while flying seems more tollerable then fighting the freezing cold or fighting the rain, mud, rats and heat. There are some history doc on here that talk about Italian front. You really need to start watching the Sabaton History before or after you listen to the music.
The irony in this video is actually funny, remember Jocke saying that they actually filmed this video in 30 degree celsius, so no they are not on a mountain :D
Sorry just passing by. Stumbled on your video i thought you reacting to Muse band😂 just realized your channel was named Metal Muse. Just a fun suggestion, maybe you can react to Muse band they also got metal song in their catalogues like Dead Star or In Your World. Cheers.
Hahaha lol plan. The name is a bit confusing I’ll admit because it was meant to be a play on the metal news and then play on me just sitting musing about music. Now people think I think I’m the muse and that’s defo not what it’s meant to mean. I have been considering changing the name of the channel and rebranding I am considering calling it rambling reactions to metal.
What is with the high heels beside you? I thought instead of those there would be doc martens boots like most of the metal community has lol.....This one is one of the ones that rings home for me because my great grandfather fought on that alpine front, and by luck he caught malaria after the first battle of Piave and was sent to the rear to the military hospital in Vienna which saved his life. ( fought on the Austrian-Hungarian side ww1 for those who are wondering since he was from Bohemia)
Hell yeah! I was at the Glasgow concert (about 12 rows back). It was my first concert in over 20 years just to see them. The next day I too was on a lot of painkillers. I couldn't feel my legs, lol.
Hi Metal Muse. Can you please react to legendary Russian rock band Kino song Calm night? It's a rock music masterpiece! Lot of bloggers from different countries really like this band and song. Now really interesting your reaction too. Original from 80s. Not live 2021.

This got me the magical 13 in history.. because i question the text book. And could argue with it... partly by quoting A biografy of Rommel.

Those boys finally get to go home after over a hundred years.
I didn’t know that that is good and hopefully will give their family some closure
I personally think it’s equally as beautiful to imagine them up there preserved for all time, reminders of the cost of fighting.
