Ed was 75% of the show, doing the manual labour. Don't watch it since he left
Thanks for the feedback Rik :)
No, Edd was 99% of the show. Knowledge and skills. Mr Brewer ought to leave he does'nt contribute to the show.
FOR ME ED CHINA WAS WHY I WATCHED THE SHOW WHEN HE WENT WE WENT.
Thank you for the comment Paul. If you liked the video, please share it with your friends :)
Nothing against Ant, but it's not the same without Edd. I watched for Edd. Mike was a necessary evil to get to the parts with Edd in them. I gave the show a chance with Ant, and he's not bad. But it's not the same. You could actually start to see the change after the first year in the US. So I tend to believe Edd was right to leave. Too bad, but I have all of the shows from UK on DVD, so I can watch whenever I want. Thankfully.
Thank you Michael. :)
i agree.
it's better.
It’s never been the same, sorry to say I can only watch reruns of the original cast, and I agree, the show lost something when it moved to America
Mike certainly didn’t lose anything.
Same here Gary, Do not like the American content and do not like how Mike trashes him now...Ed is cool! Still a bit sad, they seemed to get on well.
@@pambrown8697 thank you Pam I sure miss Ed, I could listen to him talking engines and cars for hours
Honestly, they should've given Mike the boot, kept Ant, and brought Edd back to work together. It might be Mike's life, but he brings nothing unique to the show. He's just another presenter.
I'm not sure that's true, Ed him self says Mike's presence and enthusiasm on set is infectious. Each brought a different element to the show, so from that point of view the original Wheeler Dealers was a match made I heaven. I don't think the changes to the show are solely down to Ant, who is a acknowledge and likeable guy. But I did prefer the later series filmed with Ed in the UK.
Thank you for your feedbacks dear @sailingmaster and @buzzman3200 :)
I agree
I agree, Mike Brewer should have been the one to leave the show. Edd China was much more entertaining to watch and he was more down to earth. Ant is good, just not as good as Edd China at relating to the people.
You cannot deny in it's heyday the chemistry between Edd and Mike was brilliant....
Thank you for the comment J :) We appreciate your feedback :)
Brewer is all about Me! Me! Me! ‘I did this!’ ‘I did that!’ Etc etc
I dont like Brewers
You give him too much credit for his grammar , he would have said I DONE this and DONE that . Pathetic!
brewer always took the credit for edd chinas work all brewer is a just a car dealer that's all he is he is no mechanic that's for sure
It's not real, it's absolutely part of some scripted banter which has grown tired, like the rest of the show.
I haven’t watched one episode of wheeler dealers since Edd left
Stopped watching the show after Edd left. Can't stand Mike. Only watched the show because of Edd.
Tried watching the new show just to contrived . Edd made the show and Mike should have supported him in his objections . They may still be together if MIKE DIDN'T PUT THE SHOW AHEAD OF HIS FRIEND . I MISS EDD !!
Thank you Alex. We appreciate the feedback :)
I wanted to like the show after Edd’s departure, but sadly it’s not of the same quality. I no longer watch it.
Thanks Stephan! We appreciate your feedback!
I feel the same. i really did enjoy the show not now Edds gone and so have I
@Chris Banks Ed added more detail into the video the new guy not so much, they made it shorter and cut lots out to save money...... so not as fun or entertaining anymore :)
I think had it been Mike Brewer that left the viewing figures would have increased.
Thanks for the comment AIB01 :)
Spot on do not even watch repeats or reruns ,moved on to you tube way better choices of cars and presenters
AIB01 most definitely! Brewer is a money grabbing leprechaun
Ed is a very Multi skilled man and made the show worth watching .
Thanks for the feedback David :)
I’ve watched WD from series 1 & I’m among the many who enjoyed Ed’s style of working on cars WITHOUT the glitz & glamour that the American based shows have now become.... it was a simple format ... Mike would source a vehicle, rip someone off by insulting them & their intelligence before offering them a much lower price & looking straight to camera spouting “I’ve just bought myself a ....”
Edd would then be given the car to ‘fix, bring back to life, re-fit, re-paint, re-wire, re-tyre, Anything... because anything could be wrong with the vehicle.... & herein lay the charm of the original shows .... Edd had a down to earth way of explaining the workings of the mechanics of cars, he often gave ‘Top Tips’ & always addressed challenges with a safe & practical approach .....
he was always aware that not everyone watching had access to top equipment or specialist tools & so he’d give insights on how to still complete the required tasks with cheaper alternatives....
Mike for his part probably meant well, but it never sat well with me to have someone go buy an unknown car riddled with problems & then jibe the mechanic about the cost of the repairs ..... where I come from he’d have been wearing some of those tools way long ago . .... Mike started to get cocky & irritating like a spoilt kid & when he began to turn his hand to fixing the interiors in Season 13 I knew the show was doomed .... .. so in Conclusion, ....Edd was the reason I watched & still watch the reruns .... nothing lasts forever I guess ...
True that! Thanks a lot for your comment Mikey! :)
Mikey B: That’s a pretty concise summary. I’m with you and I found Mike’s cockiness hard to take at times. But they made good tv as being “chalk & cheese”.
100%
Without Ed China it is a no show.
Thank you for your feedback Tunku :)
I left when Edd left - Mike was actually irritating to watch. End of an erra
The show died when Edd left its not the same don't watch it anymore
Thanks for the feedback Neil :)
Totally agree the show is terrible hope they stop it soon it is one dead horse
dumped the show when Ed left!
No, I don’t enjoy it without Ed China 😢!
Not interested in the new version. Prefer to watch re-runs of the old show.
Thank you @Matchbox. We appreciate your feedback :)
I agree!! Wish the crew could have come to an agreament with Edd to keep it going as it was. At least for a few more seasons. The new WD is ok but I really miss Edd and the energy he and Mike delivered to my livingroom!
I'm trying to adjust to not having ed on wheeler dealers and finding it hard, for adjust to the new brand, for that I search out old season episodes with ed and mike doing what they did best- lads get the show back on track - much prefer seeing it in damp old England 👍
@@Smallheadification I watched Edd's garage revival. I get the feeling Edd was sick of spanners and wanted to present only. Are they are going to make any more? To be fair WD was Mike's idea and Edd was engaging, but Edd left.
I'm not so keen on the new show it's more a glossy magazine than the how to flip a car show that it was originally.
@@ronaldmadican2393 if you notice there's also less detail and more cuts so it's not as long as normally...
Sadly not watched it since Edd went. Edd is like the guy next door. Also Edd has made many other motor machines like Beds and Boat motor / Cars.. Edd is warm and Endearing in his manner too..
Thank you for your comment Chris :)
I do not like
the show without Ed and don’t watch it
Dear Bruce, thank you for the feedback :)
Brewer thought people tuned in to see him eds the man
Thanks for the feedback Jane! :)
10000% everyone loved Ed but the way he blamed Ed for the abuse he got it completely wrong, they loved ED but when he left they hated the brand for it not just mike :)
Bring back Ed break the bank to bring him back
Ant does nothing wrong but the show lacks the same panache that it had with Edd.
All I can say is "BRING BACK EDD"
I find watching the show with Ant hard ,he explains things like he's talking to a two year old and pulls some funny faces.
Don't like the show nowadays
Bring back Edd China
Thank you for your feedback J.R. :)
@@Ecelebrityfacts bring back Edd fasT
@@marchutchings8834 the sad thing is it might never happen :(
Can’t watch the “ new” show and will never watch it again.
Thanks for the feedback Paddy :)
As a lifelong amateur mechanic, I loved the show when Edd was in it. I could follow and understand everything he did to the cars. I find Ant to be a brilliant mechanic but I often can't follow the work because it is not well explained and parts just glossed over. That may be a production decision and nothing to do with Ant. I feel they have cut the mechanical work scenes so that people who know nothing about cars don't get bored. I think that's a big mistake because such people are less likely to watch it anyway.
Haven't watched an episode since Ed left and won't.
For me personally and I'm only talking about my opinions as I'm sure there are others out there with totally different opinions of the show. it died the moment it moved to America for me , the reason was seeing all of the car businesses around the UK . knowing that they existed what they did how they did it it was a gold mine of information .then edd leaves, my suspicion on this was he didn't want to be in America the format changed so much he wasn't comfortable with it and then the slagging matches started between the two (mainly mike and his back street car show chat recorded on amiture cam phones)I haven't seen too much of Ed China I'm sure videos exist.
Thank you for your feedback Ravaged. Means a lot :)
Edd China has a site on UA-cam...👍😊
Mike Brewer is a selfish, bragging, and very unpleasant person, especially off screen. If you see the latest live interview done with Mike Brewer by a car magazine a couple of weeks ago on UA-cam, you'll see what I mean. He presents himself as the godfather of car shows and throws Edd under the bus any time he's got the possibility. Ant Antstead is an innocent bystander in all this and he is a great guy and a fantastic mechanic, but the truth is that Mike wanted more protagonism and didn't budge when Edd wanted to keep the show as it always had been, even with some more modern tweak's.
No edd I’ve lost all interest as edd made the show
Great chemistry is hard to duplicate. Edd and Mike were magic together,. I never missed an episode. Haven’t watched it since Edd left. We miss all miss you!
Edd China was the whole show. Everybody knows that. Mike is like the 35% of the show that is up beat with the buy and sell. The other 65% of the show is an extremely talented skilled craftsmen who is abound with personality. Plus you learn so much even if it isn't one of your old cars that he is repairing. The new guy is OK.
I have NOT watched any Wheeler Dealers since Edd China left. He was the heart and soul. Brewer was a conniving little weasel car salesman. Hate him. One thing you didn't mention is that Edd is the godfather of Brewer's daughter.
Thanks for the feedback Steve :)
Brewer is your typical Schnidy used car salesman, look how many times he rubs his hands together, I only ever watched it because of Edd, he made the show.
Mike got greedy. Edd had integrity. End of story.
Thank you for the feedback Tabs :)
Tabs T rubbish, they had a nice thing going, both decided to take it to the US but then Edd didn’t like the producer interference. That is all.
Ant is a great replacement and will take the program to a different level, he is more practical owns his own car manufacturing company selling the comet and is a real perfectionist.
Hopefully edd will come back strong with his own vision
This reminds me of what happened to Top Gear similar thing, without Edd the show is dead !!
No it’s not. It’s just as good.
I can't watch top gear or the grand tour, all imitations
Thanks @Tyrone, @MarcusTDM, @Convince and @Rik. We appreciate your feedback :)
The China/Brewer show was superb in every way....melding technically accurate spanner work with the engaging Cockney wide boy(sic) dealer/ salesman.....very entertaining with a genuine view on refurbishing cars and attempting to make an honest profit. Times change and people move on...which is good. Ant Anstead has an interesting CV and is an asset to the new production....due to his youth, not as charismatic to the millions of mature car enthusiasts across the world. It all goes to show what an emotive topic this is.....
According to
In Edd's Book he wrote: he and Mike went on their last test drive of the season and Mike said to Edd, this may be our last drive on the show. Then Edd was blindsided by the fact attaboy productions was fired and the new producers imposed a 50% pay cut for Edd take it or leave it. Edd left it. Edd was the one who was blindsided and I doubt Mike took a pay cut.
Definitely not a must see without Edd. We’ve watched every single episode featuring the Dream Team (Mike and Edd) during Lockdown Evenings and then tried to catch up to date with Shows featuring Ant and Elvis. Our enthusiasm soon petered out for the new line up. Such a pity Edd isn’t up for rejoining but a major Network needs to pick him up for a sure-fire Winner!
Mike and Edd were a great partnership. Loved Edd's detailed workshop repairs, which were the real meat of the program, and Mike's visits to other varied automotive parts/repair shops.
I haven't seen any of the Ant Anstead episodes.
Interesting that Anstead seems to get same amount of time that Ed China got on the Show with repair portion.
Thanks for the feedback Robert :)
Because Ant doesn't mind getting his hands dirty, wheras Edd wanted to sign autographs all day.
Mike is always trying to get involved in some of the repairs now which is annoying, plus lots of the repairs that are done are not shown at all, only mentioned at the end of show summary.
In Australia they are still playing episodes from the Mike and Edd era.
I have only seen the Ant episodes on youtube.
The USA production house have no idea as to what makes the formulae work.
So as usual the USA have screwed it up.
Edd China Made that show the sequences that the new producers asked him to cut down was the dumbest idea ever. Edd China and Mike Brewer are the reason I watched it. The new format put it in the same river with all the other dime adozen car shows. His breakdown of all his repairs and little tricks he used the Extended breakdowns of his repairs were exactly why I watch the show. You learned something!
Love the show with Ed and Mike. Ed was the skeptic of the show when Mike brought in a car and he saw how much work had to be done to get it where Mike wants it. Ant is good in his own right, however, way to agreeable when it comes to doing a project. That was the magic in the show. The over-enthusiastic seller and the reluctant mechanic. Great chemistry and format.
I definitely look forward each week to watch Mike come up with great car finds and those cars that have been vintage cars from the past, and with Ant’s arrival , it took it to another level ( even though I liked Ed too)!!!
What show Edd left so no show
Thanks for the comment Glenn :)
With the departure of Edd, the show lost the one key ingredient that made it great, Edds insistence on detail breakdowns of the repairs. I learn so much mechanical tricks from Edd. Show hasn’t been the same since
Well said!
I still enjoy old and new WD. Ed made a decision to leave, he was not sacked.
Thanks for the comment Bob ! :)
WD with Ed was very detailed, he did hard restorations but props for Ant for stepping up in the show.
Wheeler Dealers Combo was that! They had different skills but more importantly their humor and skill made an entertaining and informative show. With a background in general mechanics I loved the explanations' that I vaguely remembered from my first car a 1959 Ford Zephyr Mark II
Couldn't agree more!
Since Edd left the show i lost the interest, is like tha F1 after Alain Prost.
All I remember this show for is how talented Edd was and how many times Mike said "I reckon".
Edd explained what he was doing And it was really interesting, Mike was just a hustler. I dropped the Velocity Channel after Edd left.
Wont see wheeler dealer anymore without edd china. He is the best. His accuracy, quality controll is perfecto.
Best wishes for edd china
Longfellow said it best "All things must change to something new, to something strange." Edd was a mainstay to WD for over a decade. He is an unmatched creative talent. Having said that Ant is also great at what he does and although I miss Edd being on WD, I still watch the Ant segments, when Mike comes on to do his bit of patter, I'll make a cup of tea. Now Ant has decided to move on and Elvis will be taking over. I've seen Elvis on Dream Cars and he too has a level of car authority that I can learn from. So yes, all things must change. The best part is I can see Edd every week or two on You Tube doing his new show "Workshop Diaries" where he is able to focus on vehicles that He wants to focus.
Both with and with out Edd I still enjoy the show it's just a different take.
Thank you for the comment Michael :)
Nice spin on how Mike and everyone that is associated with him suffered as a result of Ed leaving the show. Oh well as the old saying goes, live by the sword, die by the sword. Integrity has never been a strong point for Mike Brewer as I think most fans of the original WD shows will understand. I always remember Mike taking full credit for the change of color during the sale of the Mk1 Escort after strongly berating Ed's for his choice of colour. It really does tell you all you need to know about the man.
Thanks Stephen. We appreciate your feedback :)
As with all good car shows, they have to make sense and more importantly make money for the networks. Edd was really the back bone of the show. Not to get bogged down in negative posting. I really enjoyed the show with Edd and Mike. I have also watched the new show with Ant and enjoyed it. Wishing both of the guys the best for their futures. Thanks for the fab shows.
I have been a fan of the series since day one and must admit that I am a china fanboy even though I am older than Edd !?
But having said that, I mean that Edd, Ant and Marc give/live out their different personalities to the full as well as their incredible abilities and technique communication with each their way.
I am still a fan
Great to hear that...👍👍
Mike and ed were awesome together, they've done many cars that were almost finished, but did a brilliant job on everyone of them, and making a nice profit at the end, come sale time.
Actually, since they never priced in the cost of labor, any reported profit was overstated (if it even existed at all).
never watched the new version, it was all about Ed for me working on the cars.
I've got nothing against Ant, but it's not the same without Edd.
Thanks Bert. We appreciate your comment :) Do you have any suggestions for the channel?
Ed China made wheeler dealers a great success. It was his knowledge, friendly nature and being a genuinely nice guy that pulled in the viewers. Sadly since he left the show isn't the same.
Edd was the star of the show really! I miss his expertise and great presentations.
Ed was a wonderful man with the explanations he was the show mike is only the salesman
Thank you Roger :)
I must admit when edd left I said never watch it again but ant is frigging good at his job! Mike should have kept edd in uk with English version and ant in USA I think it would have worked 🏎
Thanks for the feedback Tony :)
I’ve always disliked Mike Brewer and his presentation of the show. I still watch the re-runs but have to be in the right mood to put up with Brewer and his toe-curling arrogance. Edd on the other hand is a gent who is very easy to watch, providing simple explanation of the tasks at hand with useful tips and tricks of the trade. I’ve not watched any of the new series’ and will not in support of Edd. Top gear was the same for me and could not bring myself to watch the shows with Chris Evans and Matt le blanc. The newer shows with Freddie are great.
Thank you for your valuable feedback Michael :)
I agree with so many others below. It's not the same and I miss Edd China. I hope he's doing well! Greetings from a fan. 😊
I still enjoy the WD program very much. To those that say they haven’t watched since Edd’s departure sound like children about food. “Ever try it? Nope, but I know I won’t like it!” How do you know for certain. In fact, I’ve seen many times where Ant has stood up to Mike about decisions on the cars rebuild that Edd would’ve never even tried. I like that. Edd was also a bit to dry in his approach, where I find Ant more chipper. NOW that the shows going back to the UK, it’ll have its third mechanic behind the spanners, so will have to wait and see what he brings.
Someone got greedy. ED left the show, I stopped watching immediately! I don’t even watch the program anymore.
Thank you for the feedback Mark :)
Same
I stopped watching the show after Edd left i don't like that the show is in the USA
Thanks for the comment John :)
i agree hated usa cars come back edd the show is not the same without you.ant you to nean to get together
The show jumped the shark when Brewer toured around the USA buying cars to ship back to England, for Edd to repair and prepare, at that point, the show had run its course.
Haven't watched the show since Edd left he is what got me hanging out for the next episode
I have watched 2 episodes with Ant before dropping for good. What bother me on this new format is that before we could see Edd fixing the cars and explaining very well what he was doing, especially when he had to create some gadgets to solve the issue. With Ant, most of the things we see is the beginning of the issue, him explaining what is wrong, and a quick edit of how to fix it, sometimes you can even see that it's not even his hand on it. Also he does some very dangerous thing, like cutting fiberglass without having a cut board model of the part or warning the issues of doing this type of stuff wrongly. I am not going to speak on the design cause anyone with eyes can see how weird the cars are lately. Lets hope things change with Marc as the new mechanic
Show continues to be very entertaining and informative on auto mechanics.
Although an fan of the early show I enjoy so much more the input of Ant and his interaction with Mike. I am sorry to hear that they are going their different ways. I always thought Edd was a bit stiff whereas Ant comes across as someone whose company you could easily enjoy.
Love 💓 this show anytime. From Australia 🇦🇺
I used to watch it,but stopped after Edd left.Edd was the show.Brewer is just a used car salesman that collects car parts.
Thanks for the feedback Aston! :)
Still like the show and never miss an episode...but I used to love it which sadly I dont anymore. Years ago they would have cars we could all relate to and afford. Mike would go to see potential purchases....and if they were not suitable we would see him walking away from it....but not anymore. The first shot of the prog shows him driving the car that hes bought..killed the expectation straight away... We used to see Edd rubbing wheels down..painting with rattle cans...swapping wings out or changing stereos..even corner cutting stuff like painting parcel shelves to give em a new lease of life....stuff we all used to do. Since they sold out and went to USA...a lot of that attraction has now gone...Ant is great...really great....but you know before the show starts its going to be "what pump or alternator are we going to watch Ant split into a million bits and put back together for our pleasure this week"? This is not his fault...and he has filled Edds shoes very well...especially on the cossie episode....
Dont get me wrong its still a great show and obviously our American friends love it too.....but that little something that gave it its edge...for me anyway has faded...Ive met Edd and Mike a couple of times...both seem great guys....Mike is always down to earth and will eff and jeff with you as good as the next man....long may Wheeler Dealers continue...👍🚙🚙
Thanks for the feedback Darryl :)
edd was the show mike was the show / not the same now / re form back in the uk . usa a bad gig
Thank you for the feed back dear Jump :)
Problem with Ed's stated reason for leaving the show has proved unfounded. In reality, rather than cut down on the time spent showing the cars being worked on, it's actually gotten longer.
Thank you for the feedback Phillip :)
Ant is the cleanest mechanic I have seen, with bags of personality, Edds get down and dirty and showed us how to d.i.y. Mike is great being mike who we love. I love to learn how to do it. both series entertaining . Ant repairing cars without touching, Edd teaching us hands- on.
Edd says that he left because they were reducing the time spent on the fixes. Since Ant joined it seems they increased the time spent in the workshop going into more detail.
Thanks for the comment Richard :)
I lost interest when it moved to the US. Lost it’s relevance to me with cars I don’t know or care about. MB had said one reason for the move was to get more time in a year with a better climate to film. He’s also said Ed was getting ratty with the production staff towards the end. Obviously a lot of frustration with the changes. Maybe it had run it’s course. Very sad that a programme made on the relationship between them both ended up with them falling out. Seen interviews with Mike and where he mentions it he seems to be very good at looking out for number one though. Very difficult to watch reruns knowing what’s happened. Anyway, “old out your ‘and” 😀
ed is a gentleman and has deportment a class act
I enjoy it still. I miss Edd but Ant is a very competent mechanic.
I loved it when Ed was in the show he explained everything so simple and for me was a natural he was great with Mick I watched I think every one but now I only see it now and again Ed and Mick were the best
Thanks for the feedback Tim :)
Who’s Mick?
I like Ed and I like Ant. They each have their own ways of looking at and doing things. I tend to record the show and fast forward the Mike bits, he's just an irritating noise most of the time.
Last time I watched was with Ed, no more.
A lot of times I felt the restored car was undersold to meet the shows production deadline. This undermined all the effort and hard work Edd put in, and gave some lucky punter a real bargain. Havent seen a show with Ant, stopped watching after Edd left
I agree, who wouldn't want yo buy one if their restored cars ?
Thank you for the comment dear Sirron and Buzzman! :)
In each show Mike Brewer provides an object lesson in exactly how NOT to negotiate. He really should read Chris Voss's "Never Split the Difference", especially Chapter 9. With a poor example of deal making and "profits" that don't include the cost of man-hours or of specialist tooling, the show is a scam. The only authentic thinking it had going for it was Edd's practical brilliance.
Maybe the purpose of the show was to demonstrate that there is no money to be made doing up old cars. Perhaps we were supposed to spot the man hours issue for ourselves.
Lmao Geoffrey, The show is entertainment its not a scam. It's not real life.
Thanks @Geoffrey, @donepearce and @nudisco300 :)
Ed was just amazing.
I liked Ed, but I think Ant is actually really good too. I still love the programme, it’s just as good and they’re doing some great cars now too.
Thank you for the comment Chris :)
I have watched the show for about the past 6 years. I very much enjoyed the show with Edd. I even met Edd one time at a car show and I have seen Mike a few times but never met him because he seemed to be inaccessible. The show with Ant is also very good but it's different now. I would say one is not better than the other.... just that it's different, but I still watch it.
I am a huge fan of Ed China and both he & Mike always made the show. Ant is a great replacement and he has a great style which still works well with Mike thank goodness
Ant does a very good job and explains the process but I still feel Edd was a little more clearer on the whole process. Still a great show but, personally prefer the older shows. Keep going though Ant and I am sure the show will progress and evolve.
The first impression I got about Wheeler Dealer recently is the lack of rapport between Mike and Ant. Many of the exchanges come across as forced and awkward. RIP Wheeler Dealers!
I always thought the people at the end of the show Who turned up to buy the finished car were actors ?
I've only watched a couple of shows since Ed left and thought that they were lacking. Ed had a better manner when it came to the repair work, which is where my interest lays. Mike always cockily keeps telling the camera what a clever wheeler Dealer he is, but seldom gets the initial asking price.
Having seen episodes of both lineups I can happily say the new pair are not in the same league as Mike and Ed.
👍👍
Both guys are great mechanics and restorers, a great interesting program with so much detail but I do prefer it to stay in the UK
I like Ant and Edd. The shows are still entertaining, but like most people I know who watch the show wonder why it's based in America now and not Britain, but I suppose variety is the spice of life!
