Please note that I did NOT pay for my special needs geckos! I do not support breeders who breed geckos with bad genetics, like enigmas, but I do offer a home to their afflicted geckos. Just wanted to clear that up right away because I forgot to include it in the intro. Hope you enjoyed :)
Hello, you are so beautiful and I love when your lipstick match your hair like this. 👌👍☺️ Please do a video on underrated species or invasive local species of animals....
I cannot stop smiling from watching this video. All of the geckos are adorable and you can tell they are thriving with your care. As horrible as it is for these geckos to exist in the first place (from icky breeding/care) I am so glad that they are in your home. I am going to school to become a Vet and watching your channel has motivated me to go into the reptile program so I can care for reptiles and educate the public. I also own 3 leopard geckos and one of them (who I just call baby since I’m terrible with names) has stunted growth from not being fed enough as a baby...but I love them more then anything. I’m so extra that I made them all a little bridge for them to climb and bask on for their tanks 😂❤️. But thank you for all of the amazing things you do.
I love a person who takes in special needs animals! I adopted a cat with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. This means she has sort of the cat version of Cerebral Palsy. She gives me so much joy in my life! She gets around, gets her self up on the bed or the couch, does what she needs to and she seems not to even notice that she is different. One part of her disablility is that she can not jump up. She has to use her front legs to sort of put her claws in, and then crawl her back legs up. She is a pretty good climber! But, when I adopted my newest cat I decided to do something I will always do when adopting a furry (i am not experianced enough with reptiles) to write to the shelter and ask for the animal that may not need extra care - or a slight bit of extra care but isn't the beautiful one or has a deformity or mild disability. I mean everyone who loves cats - or geckos or whatever animal is going to fall in love with that baby or that hatchling. But what about the one that is missing a leg or has one eye or walks funny? (adoribly in my oppinion.) They deserve all the love they can get too and I think people focus too much on how pretty or cool the animal looks and not on how much they need someone to love them. When I adopted my newest cat, I really wanted another black one so that I could name her after Carmilla the vampire. But, yet again God had a plan for me. When I met her I wasn't sure if she was the right one. She was really afraid but otherwise okay and did let me pet her but, I was convinced that because she was black (not the black cat in my pic by the way- that one is Ohana my CH cat.) When I came in to adopt her I actually got to hold her and I felt that she was just skin and bones. I thought maybe she had been a street cat and had it a bit rough. My heart was broken though when I discovered that she is a FOUR YEAR OLD cat who was the size of maybe a 1 year old at most. She had been an owner surrender and the truth had been that she had been pregnant and had given birth. She had been fed so little that her tiny body had been trying to produce milk for her babies but on the paper it reported that she only could supply "scant milk production." I don't know how she survived carrying her kittens. Even the guy working at the animal shelter saw how surprised and shocked I looked when I learned shehad recently given birth. He kind of nodded at me and said "Yeah, a cat at her size is like a 1 year old giving birth. The kittens are small in that situation." In her case even though her owners surrendered her - and I think they should have been arrested for animal abuse -" they couldn't find the kittens." All this to say that God bless you for taking in the scale babies that other people might have over looked or the ones that wouldn't have been adopted without you. I know people say that reptiles can't have emotions but, I disagree, I believe that any animal that is given a second chance at life knows it and they are really greatful. With extra love and care my cat Carmilla became BEAUTIFUL. Everyone comments on her beauty. She looks like she is wearing orange eye shadow almost perfectly with her orange and black mixed fur. She is still very thin but she did gain weight and her coat has gotten so soft and beautiful. With a little love so much can change in an animal's life! Two other things * I actually came to this video because I am getting my first lepord gecko in the mail tomorrow. She is my first reptile though so, as far as I know there are no disabiities with him/her. * My own name is Aimee! Now I love the fact that there is an Aimee gecko out there! - Even if you do spell it Amy LOL
I spell her name Aemie :) thanks so much for your comment! Special babies definitely have a place in my heart and I love to see they have a place in the hearts of others too!
Your 1 amazing woman Jessica what you have done for all them beautiful geckos is just so special there arnt even enough words to describe how very special you are I love all your geckos very much I rescue geckos myself and have seen some very upsetting situations that geckos have been left in I'm so happy all those very special babies found you and you found them this was a brilliant video 😊❤❤ btw rhaego is the cutest little boy ever
I loved this video. The care you give to each and every gecko is truly beautiful❤️🙌🏾 bless your heart for stepping in to help them. (I did tear-up at some of the stories) keep up the awesome work you do! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Oh Jessica I had to FF a few times because I couldn't stand to even *hear about their pain from former keepers, Like I couldn't bear to hear it! :( but I think you're a literal saint for taking in and rescuing so many babies! I found you through Snake Discovery! Your enclosure was awesome!! Oh and btw I subbed to you as well :) Brightest Blessings!
Thank you for sharing such a sweet video and letting us meet each baby. I would love a video where you talk about what to look for when you buy or adopt a leopard gecko. What does a healthy gecko look like? How can we tell if it has or will have a high genetic chance of having handicaps? Which morphs should we avoid or be prepared to deal with medical issues and What are those issues? What should we look for in a trusted breeder or rescue? How can we prepare the enclosure to adapt for a special needs gecko? How do we know were ready to take on a special needs gecko? I know you talk about these issues in each video where we see your babies who have issues, but I know I would love, and I bet others would too, a definitive video I can watch with someone giving trusted and tested advice so we make the best choice when giving each little life a home. As always, I love your channel, and you're great mommy to each little life God has given you charge of.
You are a great person to take time & have patience to help the little guys & especially the sick. I'm happy & content they have you to help them😊but then there are many others out there we can't see. So sad that people can't don't won't wake up via every living creature is Not an object but a living heart wanting to thrive & be happy😔🌻🌼🌻
So excited! I love these lol guys and gals! Jorah (not Vash)...OMG! Rhaego freaked me out! I love Merlin!! They all make me smile but Merlin always gets me!
Great video! Love all of them. I have a Leo named Colby (like Colby jack cheese because he is yellow) and you have been super helpful with me taking great care of him!
As sad as it may be...could you please create a video about the death of your leo? The circumstances of your loss may not be the same as others, but it may touch on the importance of when to let go. Leo's can be too hardy for their own good.
Love the video!! I love all your adorable Leo’s! It’s always great to see all the different personalities they have! I would also like if you made the video about the Leo that passed. I feel even though it would be sad, it would be a good learning experience for anyone who might have a similar problem with their Leo, or anyone who might end up with a Leo of similar issue. I feel it’s always good to share those thing, bc it can always help benefit another life! ❤️
This was so great! Honestly I struggle with remembering all of your geckos, so this is really helpful! Also - I would love to hear the traumatic tale of the lost toe!
Hi Jessica, I'm 10 years old and my leopard gecko, Nova, is now 10 months old. I am feeding her 8 small mealworms a day. Should I be feeding her more? Also is there a way for me to send you a photo? Thank you very much for your help!
this may be a silly question, but can females decide if they want to lay eggs? or it just naturally happens that they do (infertile, of course.) Delta had her very first egg this year in the 6 years I've had her, but not a second as I know they usually lay 2 in a clutch. Now im both worried and curious if it'll happen again since the dreaded time of year is coming. Extra worried ever since I learned about follicular stasis. Unless that can be avoided as long as they're given calcium and proper supplements?
I see you don’t use uvb- can I ask what you use as a replacement, or your opinions on uvb? I’m getting my first Leo soon, I’ve always been told to do uvb, I honestly didn’t even see the debate about it until I looked it up due to this video haha, something about d3 powder can be supplemented instead but I’m just a bit confused on the whole debate.
I’ve never used UVB with my leopard geckos. Some people do, some people don’t. You’ll just want to use a calcium powder that has D3 in it. I personally use repashy calcium plus. You’ll also want to provide calcium carbonate. I have a whole video about this in my leopard gecko care playlist
in my city/country, the healthiest most safe place to get reptiles is the annual reptile expo, besides that it's just pet store animals which is actual mass breeding.. i don't know about your city/the USA though but yeah, i personally have met and know lots of the local expo breeders and they all breed such gorgeous healthy animals (besides the ones who breed lots of spider ball pythons and the like..). i've been going to my local expo for the last 13 years :) i'm a snake person btw so cannot comment too much on geckos bred and sold at expos.
Expos in the states are filled with mass breeders and unethical breeders. There are good breeders, don’t get me wrong, but a lot of them don’t attend expos or don’t attend them often.
20:28 hmm my leopard gecko does the same thing but she isn’t a white an yellow. sometimes she would just bolt outta my hands or death roll in my hands (i don’t hold her tightly nor in a uncomfortable way)
Question: My granddaughter who will be 10 would like to have a leopard gecko for her birthday. She has done a wonderful job researching, preparing, and watching your videos. Our question is this: which is easier to care for? A male or a female?
A female may have a better temperament as they tend to be sweeter and more active but a male will *likely* have less sexual health problems. I personally don’t have a preference.
i have a question. do all female gecko lay eggs? this sounds like a super dumb question but i’ve just been wondering because i’ve had my 2 female leopard geckos for about a year and i’m just wondering if they will ever lay eggs.
I enjoyed seeing all your beautiful kiddos! Do you know how much breeding tends to impact the lifespan of females? I have a female who was adopted as a retired breeder. I think she was only bred for one season though (she didn't have a het that the breeder was looking for or something like that.) She seems super healthy, so I hope we have a long time left together.
One season shouldn’t be bad at all. Most responsible breeders won’t breed a female for more than 1-3 seasons, and usually they’ll allow a gecko to have one season off, one season on. However Shireen was bred for multiple seasons back to back. As an enigma it just wore her out :(
It’s said that females that are bred typically live 1/2 the lifespan but like I said above that also depends on morph and how often/much they were bred
@@JessicasAnimalFriends My girl Buttercup is a tangerine. She's huge (80 grams, but the vet says her weight is not a concern) and has tons of energy. I think the breeder I got her from did a good job.
Thank you so much for all your advice, you are a wonderful person:) She got most of it off, just a little on the top of her head and she is rubbing all over the place to get it off. Should I just let nature take its course or can I pull that little bit off? I will put a little water in her plastic dish and keep it warm like you said. Thank you Jessica and hope you and all your little friends have a great weekend
You will need to soak your gecko’s feet in warm water. Be aware that bc the shed is four weeks on now, your gecko may have necrotic toe tips. If they look black under the shed that means they’re dead and will fall off. Be sure to address your husbandry issues that led to stuck toe shed- do you have a humid hide? What substrate do you use? @@JessicasAnimalFriends your welcome! also all of them are beautiful i wish i could have that much ahaha but ik it’s A LOt of work plus u have other reptiles t.
You’ll need a heat mat plus a thermostat to regulate the temperature. Unless your room gets cooler than 70 degrees, you won’t need any additional heat. If it gets cooler than 70 F you might want to use a ceramic heat emitter to raise the air temp. Don’t use any heat lights especially red ones. UVB is separate from heat entirely and I recommend you check out leopard gecko talk’s channel for that info
If you’re looking for a pet quality gecko, Craigslist is a good place to start. If you’re comfortable with the idea of shipping a gecko, you can check out geckoboa’s pet only page.
I don't know what kind of bad experiences you've had with buying reptiles from an Expo but generally you get healthier reptiles from Expos because you have breeders that take excellent care of them. Of course there are always exceptions.
@@JessicasAnimalFriends I'm wondering if mine is a form of mack snow/super snow also! Someone told me she was a plain eclipse.. But mine has no orange/yellow on her.

Is spraying them with a mist of water ok when they are shedding or no?
I would say that’s not as effective as a soak or giving them a humid hide

My gecko has shed that has been on her toes for four weeks what do u recommend me to help her
You will need to soak your gecko’s feet in warm water. Be aware that bc the shed is four weeks on now, your gecko may have necrotic toe tips. If they look black under the shed that means they’re dead and will fall off. Be sure to address your husbandry issues that led to stuck toe shed- do you have a humid hide? What substrate do you use? Do you use a heat lamp?
I use a under tank heater with eco earth and I have a moist hide but she never goes in it
Her toe there is very sensitive will it cause her lifespan to be less
Once socking how do I get shed off
i’m sad i can’t watch this video bc i have a huge phobia of worms 😩😂 love you & your videos though!!!
I was told i can use paper towels as there substrate??
Yep you can
😍💜💜💜
Should I wait till night to try to get shed off
Do it as soon as your gecko is awake today/this evening
viserion is stunning, but damn what a messed up life to breed an animal for just for looks and monetary gain
the second to last one had bumps behind its legs and mine dose too what dose that mean?
Typically you see this in geckos overweight or with a surplus of vitamins

UVB is separate from heat entirely and I recommend you check out leopard gecko talk’s channel for that info
Vash like vash the stampede ☺️ from an anime called Trigun
Where do you recommend to purchase a Gecko? I already have one but they are just the coolest pets and I’d love to have more! ❤️
If you’re looking for a pet quality gecko, Craigslist is a good place to start. If you’re comfortable with the idea of shipping a gecko, you can check out geckoboa’s pet only page.
Thank you! I’ll check it out! I love your videos and your Gecko bookshelves are FANTASTIC!

I don't know what kind of bad experiences you've had with buying reptiles from an Expo but generally you get healthier reptiles from Expos because you have breeders that take excellent care of them. Of course there are always exceptions.
What morph is benjin? He looks very similar to my girl!
I was not told his morph but I believe he is a super snow eclipse. But again that’s just a guess
@@JessicasAnimalFriends I'm wondering if mine is a form of mack snow/super snow also! Someone told me she was a plain eclipse.. But mine has no orange/yellow on her.

Wow you really do answer every ones comments. 😎
I don’t think I KNOW ANY OTHER YOU TUBER WHO DOES THAT
Did it really take minutes and 14 seconds before you actually started the video
Did you really take time out of your day to comment something irrelevant that has no bearing to the content of the video at all?
