Thanks for the reaction, man! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was genuinely thinking 'how can I make Ian's life difficult for an hour' as I was writing this. :P
Here's some bar breakdowns/context for some parts you missed!
'I'm the powerhouse of the sell' - Another layer here, I'm great at selling people on the concept of 'rich people bad' songs to the point I can get rich myself doing it and nobody questions me.
'Father forgive me I have syn-co-pa-ted - beat's off but they'll never make their tracks dirty'' - Syncopation is doing things on the off-beats, the same way I delivered the word 'syncopated'.
'Rhymes are flagging like you've written then in semaphore' - Semaphore is the language/signalling system composed of flag signals, mostly used for signalling to ships from the shore.
'You're adrift and yet to get to shore - You never made the sales so I think you'll have to peddle more' - Is a flip on not getting enough music sales, so telling a person to try harder to sell their music - sales/peddle, but also you're adrift because you never made any sails, so you'll need to pedal your boat instead - sails/pedal.
'Rocked up to the strip with my duds all glistening, got more drip than octuplet christenings' - You were along the right lines with the baptism read! More drip than eight babies having water dripped on them. The following lines are more instances of dripping within that scene. The guttering is damaged and it's raining, the babies get dunked in the water and they are dribbling. I got more drip than a scene with a lot of different drips it, lol.
Verdigris is the name of the shade of green that old copper turns, you got the bar regardless haha.
'You know I got the sauce in the cans like I'm Heinz beans' - 'Cans' is also music production slang for headphones.
'Foes all flake when they're faces with my rhyme schemes, 99 problems yeah my van's out of ice creams, flows got you froze...' - A '99' is a classic style of ice-cream served from vans here in the UK, a cone of soft-serve with a chocolate flake. If my van was out of ice cream I'd literally be having '99 problems'.
'Endless bags to the banks - yeah I'm practically perfect' - You got the Mary Poppins reference but it's deeper! 'End less bags to the banks' I take a lot of money the the bank, but Mary Poppins took a literal endless carpet bag to the Banks family.
Also, might want to take a closer look at the shot at 2:54. :P
Holy cow! Thanks so much for the clarifications...I was close on a few of those, but I definitely missed some finer details (that "bags to the banks" bit...brilliant, and I'm mad I missed that).
Now I'll just have to go check out that time code you mentioned...
I had seen in the search bar "The Stupendium reaction" but not "The Stupendium insane ian"! Wow! Sorry I missed that in the video!! (And thanks for pointing it out!)
@@Insaneian ERB Godzilla vs King Kong is out!
@@nicolasribeirodossantos6082 my reaction is already on my Patreon, and will hit this channel tomorrow!
oh my good stupes knows ian
Since you often comment about it, and apparently other people don't tell you enough, I just want to say that your constant pausing is more or less the reason you're one of the few reaction channels I follow. It's really interesting hearing your thoughts on things, taking the time to analyse both the lyrics and the video, finding the little details that are hard to miss watching it straight up on my own or the things I don't know about as someone who doesn't make music. Your commentary is precisely why I'm here, and I appreciate the pausing as it gives me more of it. Keep doing what you're doing!
Thank you! I truly appreciate that!
Agreed. Reaction videos that _don’t_ do all the pausing and rewinding aren’t putting as much effort into it. Your extra attention to the content is appreciated!
Yeah. i don't like people who react to videos and basically just sit there and laugh at the jokes without pausing causing them to miss more jokes
Honestly i have seen people complain about pausing in other reaction channels, It's so weird it's a reaction channel not a watch along channel.
If i want to just watch the original video without pausing i would go to the source I'm here for the reaction and analysis.
One detail that you missed is that during the part about the search engine, one of the suggested searches is “the stupendium insane ian.” I thought that was really cool when I first saw it.
Yup, Stupes themselves pointed it out to me in their pinned comment here! I can't beleive I missed it the first time!
Amusingly the first reaction I saw to Adequate Wordsmith noticed Ian's search result easter egg (but missed the alternate reflections)
"I know I'm married to one" xD its either a major flex or a joke of defeat either way hang in there Ian xD
"Hang" in there. I see what you did. 😏
Yes! He finally reacted to Adequate wor…HOLY SHIT 56 MINUTES?
Technically 54, as there's about a two and a half minute ad at the beginning for a show I'm doing next week in MN.
And honestly, my reaction to the previous Stupes song was almost just as long 😅
LOL, I had been thinking, “should I watch a movie tonight? …oh, Ian has reacted to Adequate Wordsmith!… I guess I’m watching that instead.”
Really broke out laughing at 39:36, holy shit Ian, out of pocket with this one, magnificent analysis my good sir!
I believe we can make ambrosious a thing Stupendium should get to coin a word for their million subscribers milestone.
“I know, I’m married to one”
*_AAAYYYYOOOOO_*
that part of the vid just kept giving, didnt it?
@@lesarXD This is the main reason I've been waiting for this one, to see how Ian would react to that line.
Hm?
Honestly, I loved Ian's breakdown, but that line is what made me truly crack up. Good response!

@@helenholgate9285 that's so wonderful! Thanks for stopping by my reaction and commenting!
Been watching your reactions for over a year and I've never heard you reuse a joke when you trip over your words, I'm impressed by your variety of malfunctioning tongue gags.
Really? Thanks, but the one I used in this one I used just a few videos ago (and borrowed from the great Matt Braunger) and the only other one I say is "new tongue, lost my old one in the war"...which I said FAR too often before. 😅
I'm sure a compilation will be made now of all the times I've said those two things, lol
@@InsaneianWell I might just have a bad memory then. That or UA-cam forgot to recommend me some of your videos. Still, entertaining nonetheless
@@callioclops oh I appreciate the kind words regardless!
One thing I'll add to what you said about Stupendium enhancing the experience of people who are playing those games for fun is that there are probably a lot of cases (and I'm at least one of them) where a Stupendium song has been what convinced someone to buy/play the game in the first place. I have a couple of games I only bought because of the songs. :D
Same!
@@Insaneian Also just realised I'm not actually subscribed to your channel yet, which is a grievous oversight on my part which has been immediately corrected. If it helps your ego any, you and Stupendium are almost literally the only two things I watch on here. :)
@@johnclifford369 thanks, I appreciate that! You just helped me get closer to 25k subs!
@@Insaneian Remember I was there when you hit the mil. :)
75% of the reason I watch your breakdowns is because of how in-depth you go. (Also since im a little dumb, and you point out the jokes)
Thanks! I'm glad you dig them for those reasons!
(What's the other 25% reason?)
I can't believe I missed The Importance of Being Ernest!! I loved that book and movie so much when I read it in high school that I still talk about it today. Such a good line for a good pun in a great song! Thanks for the video, I had a huge grin the whole time.
The Mary Poppins references flew completely over my head even as I (of course) recognised the play on supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. This is why we need you Ian.
I ABSOLUTELY wanted to see you do this song because I knew you, of all people, would recognize the penguins, and they were one of my fave parts.
I hope, honestly, truly hope that The Stupendium gets to enjoy games for the sake of fun alone. Even if it means we wait longer for songs to come out, I'd rather they be a happier person than a professional artist who's becoming more miserable.
PS: Shame on that false copyright claiming company. I hope they never get the chance to unlawfully hurt another creator again.
Agreed on both counts!
The added value of the breakdowns and explanations in your videos is insane, Ian! (sorry-not-sorry) I always come and check your reactions to find all the clever bits I missed when watching by myself. Thank you for doing what you are doing.
Thanks! And thank YOU for watching!
Hell yes, I am so exited for this breakdown! No joke when I first heard this amazing song I thought "Insane Ian is going to have a field day breaking this one down".
I've been so looking forward to this blowing Ian's mind since I caught it Friday. Glad Ian was kind enough to share it off schedule
Ian: "My wife is a size queen."
SO we're to infer Ian has a rather large...microphone.
😏
I knew you were going to have a field day with this! I love the grooviness and the vocals are one of their best, imo. The bridge felt genuine, and now with all the UA-cam hiccups that are happening to the song, the lines about the algorithm also seem eerie but true.
There were some typed gags on the fake YT search bar section that were really funny.
Btw, totally agree with your “if you love your work” statement (and married to a size queen killed me 😂)
Great reaction as always and thanks for sharing it with us off schedule. When I saw this and ERB dropped the same day and that you didn't get/utilize early access to have a same-day public release i won't lie i got a bit anxious.
I saw Stupes already clued you in on some of the details in their pinned comment, (and that you already saw my earlier comment about the first reaction I saw), so instead I'll share a bit of extra information that is public if you know what comments to read or videos to watch.
• the "1000000!" glasses were a custom prop Stupes made
• the orange Lambo they reserved was tragically unusable when Stupes needed it, so the wide shots showing any of the body paneling are colour-corrected from the alternate Lambo they ended up using (but i think they may have missed the stitching in the passenger seat site as they ride past Fashion Show Mall as that still looks Red to me)
• the nice timing of the sequence of the lighting of the S as they turned away at the end was an unplanned bonus
• Stupes was generous enough to share the trip with several family members as part of a wedding gift, and the family joined them for pretty much all of the shoot (ain't they such an awesome person?)
Hey Ian! I’d just like to say Thank you for taking the time to talk and share your thoughts during the video and pausing it. I can see why it may annoy some people-and having that disclaimer at the beginning of each video-but I actually like how you go into such great detail, explaining the jokes and such. I love Stupendium’s music very much, but because I’m autistic many of the jokes and references tend to fly right over my head. So many reaction channels just laugh without explaining why/what they found funny, so I really like that you tend to explain and go into detail. It sorta helps me to see what everyone else got the first time, and allows me to enjoy the songs so much deeper than before. So again, thank you. Just wanted to show my appreciation somehow.
Thank you, I really appreciate your comment! Glad to know my breakdowns help!
You know its a classic ian reaction when he explains the premise of his reactions, namely his liberal use of the pause button, 30 minutes into a reaction. Can't get any better than that.
ugh, ignore all the comments who tell you to stop pausing. genuinely any reaction from you is a reaction i feel good watching, because i'm actually paying attention to YOU and not the video. i guess you could watch the video first for a straight reaction and then analyze, but i'm personally here for your thoughts and not your kneejerk reactions. keep being insane, ian
It's always beyond worth it to watch the song and then come watch your reaction to it. I love how often you pause and how you break everything down - and specific to this video, watching you try to explain the innuendos in a UA-cam-friendly way was absolutely hysterical while still actually conveying the meaning for anyone who didn't get it - but on top of that, I love that you aren't scared to admit when you recognize that a joke is happening but you don't get it. You're not here to prove to us that you're a master of comedy; you're here to share the comedy with other people, filtered through your unique perspective. It genuinely feels like you're focused on letting us laugh alongside you. And isn't that the ultimate appeal of reaction shows - getting to feel like you're sharing an experience with another person, no matter how much time and space separates you?
Wow, thank you! This is my favorite comment in a while. I really appreciate that!
@@InsaneianYou're more than welcome - I've been meaning to say something to this effect for a while, but this video was probably the perfect time. If you had any lingering doubts about whether your format is appreciated, whether you're reaching people, I hope this helps dispel them. :)
8:49 I think its also a reference to them saying in the song "a matter of facts" where they say that "if you are thinking im saying that on the beat youre mad and thats a fact"
Amazing video again. The fact that you actually take to pause and explain what something means or why something is funny is why you're on another level than most other react channels. As a non-native speaker it's almost like I'm in an english class where the teacher is also a musician on the side. 😄
Watching your reaction to the size queen bar was amazing, it was like you got whiplash because it was so unexpected.
Another magnificent reaction!!
Seeing stuff through your eyes (as a comedy musician) does really help me appreciate the songs even more than I already did.
Great work!! Keep 'em coming!
I cant even wrap my mind around half of the bars and Ian just instantly gets everything, just insane
10:28 Them saying "Supercalifragilisticexpibraggadocious" is also a clear reference to their song "A matter of facts", where they say "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" (and a few variations) in the bridge and then say "And if you think I'm saying that on the beat, you're mad.". Well, here they said it on beat :-)
love you contant as always Ian, i love your reactions cuz they help understand things that i wouldnt at first time listening and watching, also ur personallity and humor is really funny! i did buy the coin today and i look forward to getting it. TheStrupendium is really amazing and awesome, i love their music! i look forward to stupendium's next song and ur reaction to it! and in the future u and stuendium on a track!
ive been watching other reacters going over this one and some of them straight up MISSED the reflection's verse - I knew I could count on you to rewatch the bridge twelve times to break it all down :P
Oh so that's why I stumble over my words all the time. I forgot to pay the mouth bill, so am now in arrears.
Oiy, yes you very specifically, mind out of the gutter.
The rest of you are perfectly okay. 😊
Whenever i throw on a game stupes has made a song for i always end up listening to it on my phone in the background. Cult of the Lamb is a lot of fun to play while listening to wool over our eyes. I make my own ashtray maze listening to slide into the void and throwing myself into combat. I sink into the emotions of the underground city playing Stay and listening to Open the Sky. They really have enhanced the games they have made songs about for those of us who love both.
Thanks for the watch and breakdown and sharing your knowledge!
Great reaction! Seeing you enjoy the video makes me enjoy it even more myself. 😊
Great reaction mate I'm subscribed now for more
And here it is. Looking forward to this one
"Words that sound the same but are spelled different, mean different things" Those are Homonyms, Ian. The more you know. :D
The terms for homonynms, synonyms, and antonyms I always confuse so I always end up just saying the definition instead 😅
22:00 verdigris is the color of rusted copper, so bluish-green
Yup, that's what Stupes said in their pinned comment here!
Yes! I've been eagerly awaiting this one.
Insane Ian : ”i went to catholic high school, holy crap !”
That sentence broke me 😂
The more I listen to this track, the more I’m reminded of Broccoli Bars 3 by Dan Bull. Two of my favourite tracks from two of my favourite Nerdcore artists, stepping away from the video game theme to flex their lyricism more generally. Plus, both of them have some of my favourite filthy innuendos out of any song in any genre.
You know that a song is good when you start singing along, even if the song has nothing to do with your person at all
So many Stupendium songs make for earworms…
Me 🤝 Ian
Freaking out at the size queen line
"Verdigris" is a poisonous pigment resulting from the interaction between acetic acid and copper. Acetic acid is a byproduct of fermentation (it's the thing that makes vinegar smell vinegar-y).
So verdigris burns could be interpreted as the result of Stupendium (copper coloured) interacting with sour or drunk people.
"Semaphore" is a method of communicating via flags or lights, sometimes used by ships. Stupendium is suggesting their lyrical opponent is slow to communicate their words and has trouble making complex language happen.
Yup! Stupes pointed out both of those things in their pinned comment here!
39:17 "It's a double entendre that could mean somehing else" Yeah, I think that's what a double-entendre is :D
Well, I didn't want to be TOO specific, I think where I glanced folks could infer what I meant the "something else" was 😅
@@Insaneian that's what I thought but I found the sentence in itself quite funny :D
honored to have my comment referenced in such a milestone video. hope it didn't come off as mean, we all love a good insanity in the ian videos.
that said, great reaction as always.
The mars con ad is the only ad I will ever watch in full without skipping, it's too entertaining
I did not even know about the back grund lyrics. Thanks for pointing them out. Love the song more now.
Another great comedic reaction to a comedic song!
I've mentioned these two before but I was wondering if you've considered reacting to them. The two i'm referring to are Matt Storer (Aussie parodist and comedy musician who primarily does short-form videos) and Ham Sandwich (nerdcore artist who's done various funny songs such as 'Hear Me Out', 'Wheyfu Wednesday', 'Tomboy Tuesday', and more).
I think the octuplet christening is about baptism. It would be a bunch of drip because of water dripping off of them
Yup, that's what Stupes said in their pinned comment here!
right after the whistle break and the bridge starts I get flashbacks to Pizza of the Action if it's not an outright callback, but Stupes didn't mention it when commenting to you so maybe not, though could have just left it as a Easter egg.
I remember one line from the fast section of Amateur Wordsmith was “Letting the lemons elope in the limousine” and it’s now one of my favorite Stupendium song lines ever
Really loving your breakdowns. The trailer in the beginning tells me I've spent too long away from comedy music scene after Weird Al's last album.
Hey thanks for doing these videos. I miss a lot of references and you help
39:38
Okay W H A T ?
That is absolutely wild 😳😳
Cool reaction as always, Insane Ian!
Just a somewhat more than adequate rapper that is just ever so skilled in the smithing of words.
I have to admit, my first time watching this song, I did not catch that the background lyrics were being sung but I did catch the background lyrics showing up.
Pro tip Ian, the issue with being insecure is that the more you hear praise the more paranoid you feel that it's fake.
Oh, I'm WELL aware 😅
41:21 just gonna take a second and appreciate that intimidating pause.
I am sure someone else said this, but semaphore is a way/language that uses flags to communicate.
I can't believe I'm so late seeing this! The date on Stupe's page indicates they released this video 10 days ago? And Ian's reaction was 5 days ago! 😢 I usually see these right away. I've been so busy with work lately. I'm sure Stupes and Ian will get a laugh.. I am a tax professional, adding up all your write-offs 😂 I'd love to do Stupe's taxes, but unfortunately I am not allowed to do taxes from another country other than the USA. Which is quite funny because last Saturday, I was assigned a tax return from Australia (I had to contact my supervisor and have it reassigned) but not 5 minutes later, I received a tax return from Canada! I had to exclaim WTF!? in the office. Fortunately, it was just my coworkers.
ive been to that neon museum they wen to on a school fieldtrip last year,, it honestly makes the memories i made there with friends more special
Yknow, my one sadness is I commented to see how much Stupes' LED jacket was because it looks amazing and I never got a response ;~;
Personally, the fact that you pauses a lot is the reason of why I even watch these reactions, because they add something
46:33 The word you’re hunting for is homophone.
Stupes usually writes all their lyrics on screen, but for parts like these background vocals ones, looking them up in Stupes' lyrics comment could be helpful. Now, I'm sure Ian knows these comments exist, but has he said something about why he wouldn't use those in a situation like this? Because (and I'm not quite sure about this here, but) I think there was like one or half of a lyric that wasn't on screen, during the transition back to the suite with Mirror Stupes.
I to forgot my emotional support spatula at home
you probably know this by now but that lambo is red and he made his own glasses
Dangit it's not over an hour...
I thought for sure it'd be...
welp, there go my zero euros...
38:59 oh... i thought they were referring to a queen-size bed, which was still innuendo-ish
Fun fact as far as I know the Lamborghini was actually red and I think it was changed in editing
I'm sure you already know this being a musician yourself, but for the others out there, Clean can also refer to not heavily processed, like a clean guitar lick. as far as I can tell, Stupes doesn't seem to manipulate their voice much aside from a few times they've sped it up.
Now I'm just wondering if the "how many pieces can I find" is also a reference to the ribbon their Alan wake 2 song. Because if so then that song is also an entire double.
46:36 that's a homophone, "homo" meaning same and "phone" being sound (that's why it's called phonetics)
Ian, dude. the only reason i watch you are The pauses. The fact your videos are often 4X song length is an endorsement to Me
@@olafboer3435 I truly appreciate that. ❤️ Thank you!
@@Insaneian you're welcome!
I don't know yet if you noted but in the bridge the melody, rithm, IDK the right word for it, sounds like A PIZZA THE ACTION. I am writing now because I'll forget otherwise
I'm sure Stupes worked on lots of chord progression and/or rhyme pocket cameos (on top of overt spoken cameos - even how they say "I love you" at the end, combined with those Satisfactory shades). I've found myself occasionally accidentally skipping tracks in my head to a variety of other Stupendium songs including Impossible Geometry
Did ian just drop that he have something big in his pants 😂

@@Insaneian big and funny she did find a good one then🤣
