The Queen Vic is an iconic pub in Eastenders, one of British TV's longest running soap operas. Whenever they need a big storyline for an anniversary or a high profile character death they have been known to burn it down. That pub has burned down maybe 3 or 4 times in the show's run. 'Burning down the Queen Vic' is basically a very British equivalent for 'jumping the shark'
Really glad you enjoyed the track, man! Thanks for all the love and support over the years!
Of course, and huge congratulations again to you for hitting 1 Mil! Thank YOU for the love and support as well! You have clearly been a great influence on me ever since I discovered your work, and I feel privileged and honored to be able to call you a friend. Looking forward to...the sequel? (Adequate Wordsmith? 😅)
Both of you are amazing inspirations keep up all the great work
Oh cool, nice to know thanks
@@Insaneianyou guessed the title!
I kept making imaginary sequel titles, I decided these could just be future subscriber goal songs
2 Million, Admissible Wordsmith
3 Million, Acceptable Wordsmith
and the 5 Million finale, Absolute Wordsmith
"winging more than seraphim" has a second layer to it.
seraphim are noted for having 6 wings.
so, winging more than them is quite a feat.
I had to pause after that line, it's so great.
“Never seen a game so twee” from their Nook, Line, and Sinker animal crossing song!
I also have to give Stupes huge credit for the fast bit. I played it at 50% speed and every word was absolutely nailed.
"Wanna talk about chains? See my pocket watch swing" in the original was "one gold chain, and I'm afraid it's on a pocket watch"
"Fruit so fresh I'm practically lime flavoured" is NOT an Onlycans reference; fruit is slang for a queer person. It's a great line really, I love it.
Though, the lime slices flying by on screen totally _are_ an Onlycans reference, so you can see why Ian's mind went there.
Well, Stupendium loves multilayered lyrics, so I wouldn't be surprised if he meant both meanings
@@Sick-cada *they
@@scouttyra no one cares literally no one cares
@@A_Strange_Man667 seems like you care, though?
A lot of the familiar lines have been reworked ever so slightly to flow better and land harder.
The original pocket watch line, for example:
"I can't sing of bling
'Cause I don't got a lot
One gold chain, I'm afraid it's on a pocket watch"
becomes:
"If my drip seems plain, I don't got a lot of bling
Wanna talk about chains? See my pocket watch swing"
Same with the Q / John DeLancey bar. It's there in the original, but tweaked for more impact in the new one.
I love how Stupes twisted so many of the bars on this one to make a line switch from self-putting to uplifting. My favourite has got to be Thesaurus part where originally Stupes said they had to check a Thesaurus to come up with "acceptable, adequate, average" and in the remake they "make salads from the leaves of thesauruses" and goes on to list a whole bunch of more impressive words as well as the original three
An awesome breakdown, as always. This song has become very important to me very fast. The timing was perfect.
12:56 From: Christmas in the Backrooms, Losing My Patients, Neath!, A Matter of Factories / What A Plunderful World, Vending Machine of Love, Toybox, The Data Stream x2, A Pizza The Action x2, as you noticed.
24:24 Ties from: No One’s Home (appearing again in the scene with diploma), Doctor, Doctor, Vault 76, The End of the Line (also appearing again), Satisfactory songs
32:00 “sauce in the PAN” with pan colour scheme 🤌
32:14 Name tag with the white shirt is the Stuart Pendium one 😂
OMG how did I miss the sauce in the pan was the Pan colors! Amazing! Thanks!
"tom lehrer of rap" holy shit, youre so right. unusual topics, master lyricism, and every songs a banger! but yeah, stupes killed it with this, theyre far more than an amateur
37:46 Also Seraphim may be depicted with 3 pairs of wings, and Stupes is "winging it more".
The scepter of Stupendium? My good sir, do you mean... The Sceptpendium?
Someone commented this on the original video and I'd really like you to see it.
"People say "Eminem been real quiet since this dropped" ironically, but in this case...
Rap God's fast bit, specifically the 14,7 seconds starting with "Uh, summa-lumma..." and ending with "get em motivated" (after which the elevator music bar comes), has 141 syllables, and lasts for 14,6 seconds. I counted.
That is 9.59 syllables per second. Insane.
...except, Stupes's fast bit over here, specifically the part from "But if my lyrics are lacking a little-" to "Lift off the lid and you clearly can tell", is 131 syllables.
In 12,22 seconds.
That's 10,72 syllables/second. Fucking hell. Why be a god when you can be a Great Old One, I guess.
PS: The sheer force with which you rap the chorus is insane. I have never been so intimidated by someone proclaiming themself as average.
Post-Post-Scriptum: Counting the syllables also made me realize Stupes's lines are more even.
Compare
17-16-32-13-19-16-16-12
To
11-15-12-12-12-13-13-12-10-10-10."
Nifty minutia, that

Stupes after they release another wordsmith video today:
We're not done yet Ian.
Lol
As soon as I saw the “Jumenji” part on the day the song released, I got so excited in anticipation for your belly laugh about it!
I was all over the enby and Star Trek Q bars 😅😂 I shoulda looked closer the first time the credits rolled, were both in there! Ha! That’s so cool. I also like that they gradually stopped lip syncing throughout the fast bit 🤣 SO GOOD.
A fun Stupes fact, they referenced 'a catchy hook' in the massive Sonic collab where they rapped as Big! I still believe The Stupendium is criminally underrated and should've hit at least five million by now.
Dogma is stellar, it's still one of my favorite films ever.
I reacted to that Sonic cypher! 😅
@@Insaneian I remember! The fun fact was more for the new listeners than yourself.
Here's to many more years of having our minds melted by a certain someone's life-changing, life-giving lyricism!
Great reaction as always. Also, one visual pun at 33:23 - all colors in this scene are the colors of the Pan flag, so Stupes here is "Pan in the pan", so to speak.
I love stupes so much. Their wordsmithing abilities are anything but amateur now and I listen to every song even if I'm not in the fandom for it at this point, they're clever enough to explain most points, so a good portion of references don't go unmissed even when I don't "go there"
Following key shortcuts for UA-cam navigation:
J is 10 second back, L is ten seconds forward
Arrow keys left and right are 5 second jumps
Arrow keys up and down change the volume.
Also, (.) and (,) while paused move the video 1 frame forward or back.
@@isawp5199 Usually - that setup doesn't work on all browsers for some reason.
The fact that you had Weird "The Best Musician" Al Yankovic as an intro was an INSTANT sub for me. Nice!
Thanks! Al is truly the best!
18:44 That line kinda sounded like a meme I saw once over on r/boottoobig that went something like this:
Violets are blue
Roses are red
I'm not very good at poems
Microwave

“Don’t just go up to people and squeeze them. That’s wrong.” Wise words my friend. Wise words indeed

Gotta say that stupes always makes the ad bits funny.
Just noticed while watching this, im pretty sure the painting on the eisel is a still from Shine Through: True Colors
It actually is. Bullseye
6:17 Gonna note, someone pointed that out in the comments.
Stupes’ response was along the lines of “I’m not going to waste a perfectly good word just because it sounds like a different word.”
Rewatching this for the umpteenth time and it has occurred to me. You know what I would love to see? A top 10 or 15 Stupendium lines that made you laugh the hardest. Your hinest joy and laughing is always the best part of your reactions.
I feel like in the past, 42:30 would have you dumbfounded and just stare wordlessly before going "what do you want me to say?? What can be said??? How??? Is he doing this????"
Now not only do you keep calm you can provide info while it happens
It's because you're passionate about what the stupidium is doing and I am too, and I respect you for that I actually really enjoying that you take your time to appreciate these videos like I do even though I just listened to the songs, I do see their references, and I do respect it so thank. You.
This was 49 minutes. The adequate rapper one is going to be 2 hours I can’t WAITTT
He hearted this so I know it’s gonna be long
Love this song! Loved your reaction to it! … that’s it lmao.
Also I really hope you reach that 25K! You deserve it ^^
"How can you take (a 5 to 9 minute Supendium song and turn it into an almost hour long video)" - I counter those questions with "How does Stupes take over an hour of wordplay and references and cram them into a 5 to 9 minute rap? Eh?
I have been waiting for this reaction as soon as this song came out, and i watched it all the way through and i can say your reaction was amazing!
Ian lost another tongue? That man burns through tongues faster than a cat can steal them
I actually went and listened to Lehrer's "Vatican Rag" and "We Will All Go Together When We Go" because of you comparing Stupendium to him, and now I wonder if Stupes' "rotisserie" line in the Left 4 Dead song was a reference to the latter song.
I always love it when you react to the Stupds video's! They are such a great music yter. I may be late but there's always time to watch your reactions ^^
A little detail I want to point out since you didn't mention is with the 'winging more than seraphim' line is that seraphim not only have wings, but three pairs specifically, so they're 'winging it' more than something with six wings. Apologies if you did notice, but didn't feel the need to address it for whatever reason, just thought it made the line even better. (:
I was rewatching this video, and it just occured to me how commited you are to not misgendering stupes, and if nothing else (theres alot else but yk wanna keep this short) i wanted to thank you for that lol
Had to stop and laugh at your "supermarket warning" to not squeeze the oranges. No idea why, but that had me falling out.😅
...isn't ocre a color that means orange? So mediocre means he's average and orange?!
@Osma777 it's the beige color on the paint palette in the bob ross shot
Was waiting for your reaction, Ian! I knew you were gonna have a field day with this one lmao! Stupes is such an inspiration and your viewpoints on their songs are such a treat to listen to! Have a great day, man!
A Brit not pronouncing "Z" as "Zed"?
They look a LOT like de Lancie crossed with Dan Bull in that Q costume.
And in general, losing the facial hair they remind me of Elton John.
30:38 Think that’s “Never seen a game so twee” from Nook Line and Sinker (aka Tom Nook’s villain song)
During the line of Stupes mentioning they're enby, it's even better when you realize they're wearing colors of the enby flag.
This video is almost long enough to be a movie. Also, I'm happy to have snagged one of the first run coins.
When Weird Al makes you a semi intro, it means you're doing it right 🎉🎉
I actually used to use that intro in my live shows 😅
So excited to watch this I've been waiting all day
I was waiting for you to do a reaction on that one! The track, although different from the 'normal' Stupendium style, is an absolute banger
Another GD player that listens to Stupes? This is my place to be ngl
Watched a random reaction to Most Fashionable Faction and the reactor of course was shocked at the Costume Dept reveal, which brought this song to mind, so I went ahead to try to count the number of costumes we see Stupes wear in this video… and I was amused when I ended up with… 27.
@@tschillintsoulntai9285 ha, nice!
@@Insaneian given how Stupes writes lyrics, I wouldn't put it past them to have intentionally set that as a hard count for outfits for us Al fans to eventually notice
The fast bit reminded me of Guy Martin's shows which I feel is part of the reason why I could understand it and also being subscribed to the Stupendium for years. I liked the various references to only fools and horses and fresh prince. I feel like the way they pronounce compliments as complimonts is a reference I have missed somewhere. I did wonder what the rapadook was so that was informative .
I am... Disappointingly late to a video I've been anticipating all week...
You still saw it on the day it released, so not THAT late 😅
@@Insaneianit was Friday for you, right? It was Saturday for me so... Technically not...
Immediately after I watched this on Stupe's page, I went back and watched the original. Then I watched your reaction to the original. From your reaction to the first video, I wasn't sure you'd make a reaction to the remake 😢 I am glad you did and a big congrats to Stupes one million subscribers! I watched it on Friday and already the Stupindicoins were sold our! Real bummed out.
Was glad to see the bit at the start about the historical context of subjects that rap involves, that section was the one thing that did squig me a bit when I was watching the song originally, mostly because I know it's a really common misconception amongst groups that aren't very involved in the genre. Also, congrats on cracking 25k!
Also in the Bob Ross line theres another reference, the painting is a still from their sing Shine Through, with the lyrics all about color and color puns.
The period/comma keys going frame by frame only works when you have the video paused :). Great video man, and Stupes absolutely annihilated yet another video, as expected
Yup, bit even paused it doesn't work for me, weirdly. Regardless, thanks, and my reaction to the next Stupes vid is coming soon!
@@Insaneian man that’s weird that it doesn’t work :/. Anyways,Love your reactions dude!
@@emperorkiron3470 thank you!
it's not an ian video unless he says "words that sound similar with the same meaning" instead of synonyms. also, a 5 minute stupendium video may be a short stupes video, but a 50 minute video isn't that long for your reaction either! lol
loved the reaction like always, we'll be here cheering for your turn at the million.
I always forget the word synonyms...that's weirdly ironic. And thanks!
@@Insaneian Ah, synonym rolls...just like grammar used to make.
"sit and swivel on my lyrical juxtaposition" is definitely an amazing line.
I found you on the Fallout songs a few days ago, and am now definitely subscribing. Love it when people take the time to pause and add in and explain things. I can already tell you're going to be amung my favorites, Doug Helvering and Drumroll Tony. Looking forward to it.
i love watching both u and Stupendium! showed so many friends TheStupendium channel and they all love the music they make :D i dont know if u remember a person called frozenzero who used to comment on ur videos, that was my old name if u dont remember thats ok. i always watch the music video of Stupendium when it dropps and right after i wait on u to make a reaction cuz ur the best react channel in my opinion! much love to both off u!!
As usual amazing tidbits!! Loved to see the timer before pressing start, that number had all my hopes for a real fun and cool reaction video and it delivered ❤
Oh, I commented on somebody else, but in case you can't see that Ian, and I'm not the 4+th person commenting this, the comma and dot keys only work when the video is paused (and in focus). If you've focused on the video and press ? (shift+/ for most) you can see all the shortcuts. Or just click on your avatar in the corner, there's an option to see them in the menu too.
Edit: turns out I'm the 3rd person on this video alone. :P Maybe your capturing method is messing it up? Or your browser? But you know, it's not really important, you usually have to go back a few seconds at least anyway.
I’m locking Ian in an asylum. He’s too quick. Too funny. Too accurate. Get in the van. :3
Ian 𝘪𝘴 insane, after all.
Have you ever considered doing an analysis of Tom Lehrer's songs? Obviously they won't be reactions, but I think it'd be interesting seeing your perspective on them.
Possibly. It might be something I do for Patreon, once I finish up the Weird Al video analysis I'm starting this month. 🤔
I've been waiting to see your reaction to 15:31 since they posted the song and you did not disappoint :) I'm definitely gonna have this reaction on loop (already have watching the original like 20x dw not taking away views)
As soon as I watched this one I wondered when you'd be reacting to it. :)
There are only a few reasons why I believe Ian can't navigate frame-by-frame with the comma and period keys:
1. Not a QWERTY keyboard (unsure if other formats work the same)
2. Lost focus on video in page (should be able to check if pausing and playing can be done with the 'K' key as well as 'space')
3. Some extension or other is having a field day
OH MY GOD. I have only recently found out who the guy in the intro (because he voiced a character in little girl's show about ponies lmao). Did you personally meet him or what?
Anyway, good analysis. I have completely missed the graffiti easter eggs and some other ones too
The "guy in the intro" is probably the most famous comedy musician ever, "Weird Al" Yankovic. Yes, he voiced "Cheese Sandwich" on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but he also has had an over 40 year long career in music. I've met him several times, but this intro comes from an award show where he was a judge and one of my songs was nominated.
And thanks!
15:10 it was "one gold chain, I'm afraid its on a pocket watch"
I also always had the problem of the comma and dot key not working for me, but I did recently figure it out.
It only works when the video is paused, so you can't have it playing and go one frame back, like you can do with the arrow keys to go back 10 sec. It has to be paused!
Don't know if that works for you or not, but that suddenly did it for me, so maybe it helps you too.
Anyway, great reaction as always!
The only time I use any of the rewind keys is when it's paused, so I've tried the single frame and it still doesn't work for me paused. Oh well, but thanks for the suggestion anyway!
@@Insaneian yeah thought so already, oh well, was worth a try.
Keep on making awesome reactions and great comedy music Ian!
@@The_Disturber thank you!
the pun for Jumanji would be, "If you need a dapper rapper, I'm your [man] G, I'm going wild across the board, 'ju man g'", talking as if they"d be your [man]. Which they aren't anymore. 'cause they no longer identify as masc. Hence the confusion. But it still rhymes, they just wanted to poke fun at how it no longer fit
Yes, I know...that's exactly what I say in the video 😅
I dont think anyone has pointed this out but when they mention medi-ochre all the paint on their palette is ochre. Also okra is a vegetable. The color ochre is pronounced [oker]
So when the Animaniacs got remade when Yakko was doing the rap battle? Same vibe 🤣

@@Insaneian oh my God you commented on my comment I'm going to have a heart attack
Apparently i missed alot in this song. Nice.
I know you mostly do reactions to Rap for these videos, but I would LOVE to see your opinion on some of Chonny Jash's tracks. He's a very niche artist overall, but he has some great songs!
Specifically, I'd love to see a video on The Ballad of Dr. Jekyll / The Mr. Hyde Jive (they're two songs, but work better when listened back to back) or on 20XX
I doubt you'll make a video off of just this one recommendation for a niche artist, but at least I do recommend you give their stuff a listen on your own time, they really do have some great tracks IMO!
They sound interesting...are they comedy songs? I don't do specifically rap, just specifically comedy. 😅
@@Insaneian I would say they have some songs close to comedy, 20XX definitely comes to mind for more comedic Chonny Jash songs. Chonny’s Inferno, one of their many amazing covers, I would say also fits a comedy title.
Fair warning tho, I would not be surprised if Chonny’s style is a bit of an acquired taste. The best way I can describe them is a “Theatric Cacophony” for most of their discography
Ah, the more I think about it, Chonny’s probably not the greatest fit for the channel since their songs are usually only “comedic” for short portions. Still feel free to listen to some of their stuff on your own time, I highly recommend at least giving them a shot. Their covers are really unique with how much they change about the original songs.
@@Arch_TheGlassman good to know, thanks!

29:10 ah, abecedarian. The standard pronunciation *_is_* ay-bee-see-DEH-ree-uhn. They pronounced it kinda off, more like how it'd be pronounced in Latin, (since it comes from abecedārius) "a-buh-kuh-DEH-ree-uhn" but said quickly so it sounds more like "ab-guh-DEH-ree-uhn". Anyway, as to what it means, abecedārius means alphabet (which I know because it persists in Spanish, my native language, as abecedario, not because I've studied Latin). So, it's related to the alphabet. Turns out to be a learner of it, or, widening the meaning, a novice.
30:37 "never seen a game so twee" from Nook, Line And Sinker
right as I clicked save for an edit to correct the grammar mistake that slipped by me after replacing the last mention of the word alphabet with "it", i remembered that when you edit a comment, the heart gets removed. which is fair, otherwise people could just overwrite their comments to say something completely different and keep the heart as if the UA-camr still agreed with them.
but still, heck, i guess. (i know you just use it to notify other people you've seen their comment without having to reply to it, Ian, it's fine; no, you don't have to heart it again)
