It's the blend door actuator. Remove your glovebox, and then you can see it. Fold some paper, and jam it in the heat position. A 15 min job when you know how to do it. Change the position twice a year, once for summer (air), once for winter (heat). Works like a charm.
Hey Dr. Saab, Love your approach. At about the 2:00 mark you mentioned moving the silver arm to try to get the actuator to do something for the heat. Where is that whole set up, in the engine bay or underneath the dash? Thanks
Hello Dr. Saab!!!! Do you still own your ML55? I am currently retrofitting auto leveling headlights on my 2000 ML 320. I was hoping you might be able to tell me where the wire harness for the sensors and leveling module are located. Our MLs are pretty much prewired for everything but it's just hard to find where mercedes stuffed these wires. I already got the parts from the wrecking yard, i just need to know where those darn wires are. thanks
don't scrap it, they are great cars usually when you've no heat its normally the flap actuator under the passenger airbag listen to hear if its clicking when you move from heat to cold its a pain to get to but the part is not expensive I've had my 5.5l AMG for 5 years now and it goes great
And I really do like my ML. It's the best workhorse I have. Also I have both a thermostat and a flap actuator sitting around the shop. So I'll probably do he thermostat first then the actuator if that don't fix it.
I got the same problem but he ather way around,I got not a/c,I change the actuator and I work, only remove gove compartment complete and air bag from there , btw I got an ml55 same color lol!
@@SaabDr no,the dash have just a cover ,the air bag is have r bolts, remove for more space the u can see it,some people remove the radio part so can use 2 hands,I did my in 1 hour top
Yeah, it is. I did the thermostat thinking it was that. Didn't fix it. I'll be doing that next -- before I sell the ML since non working heat doesn't help sell a vehicle in the Midwest.
I guess I should probably pin a post that the title is just a bit of click bait that a friend suggested for the video. The original title was super long and really techy so he wanted to spruce it up. I have so much invested in this thing I'd be an idiot sending it to the junk yard. -- now on the particular one I'm not sure if it'll ever be top of the market because if rust, but I still like it.

Thank you! To get to the arm and whatnot you remove the glove box and it's under the dash.

I definitely won't scrap it, it'll get figured out. It just gets frustrating sometimes.

When you remove the airbag (and not the whole dash) doesn't it separate the bag from the dash and make it look.... Not good?

@@200horsepower interesting. The guys on benzworld made it sound like it would be doom and gloom if removed that way.
Blend Door Actuator... I'm procrastinating on doing it on my 2000 ML55 as well XD

No!!! Amgs for the ml is very rare and will be worth more

NO. -- Mainly because I sold this thing 5 years ago.
All things have a lifespan. Why replace a component that's difficult to access with a used and not new? That's a financially unsound decision.
The module was easy to access and new ones were more than the ML was worth. Didn't fix the issue anyways.
