I am so happy you watched this! I thought it was too much too fast for newbies to WoW lore but it's nice to see you enjoyed it. Nobbel87, Platinum WoW, and Athelarius are typically my favorite WoW lore channels and often do videos that center around specific stories from all the different sources. Some of them do get to be over an hour but you could break them up so we can hear more of your thoughts.
Yeah would highly recommend Nobbels complete story of lich king and illidan atleast since it covers some of warcrafts main characters from birth to death with all the untold lore from the novels. :)
It's kind of just a quick refresher for players + a humorous satirical jab at some of Blizzard's bad writing. This shit is complicated and dense as hell since Warcraft is 20+ years old now, gonna take several hours of content to grasp what is happening
Watching that video really shows just how convoluted the storyline is after the Third War, it completely jumps the shark once you hit Warlords of Draenor.
A couple other comments mentioned the channel Platinum WoW, but more specifically I would recommend a new video of his that was uploaded just yesterday, "The Warcraft Villains Who Did NOTHING WRONG" and "The Scarlet Crusade's Rise and Embarrassing Fall" which is also quite recent. Both explain their topics very well and are super interesting and fun to watch. They also both deal with morally questionable factions, and it would be interesting to hear your perspective. On these two I can say I'm looking forward to your post-video review more than the reaction itself
definitely warcriminalcraft not difined racist game is lie propaganda to force players to kill nations. What is nation? Humans born without nationality, born without fascism, nationalization in childhood make them. False value, false enemy, false nation definition make false enemy, destroy value of life. Nationalist kleptocracy created fa, refuse value of life and human rights. Reward for worsening is kleptocracy support, steal reward system. Support nationalist kleptocracy, participate in war crime. Wikipedia false nation definition changed always. They kill for nation, they not know what nation is. Not can distinguish between race and nation. Many program errors. Golden toilet marauder hilterugend science academy economy, kill and loot. Big cost in money and time. Sacred satan religion war godless church. Killing for religion of peace, priest ten commandments. False race definitions, false nation definition, make players to kill nations, made fa. Overpopulation family values. Booze narcologist barmen alcohol chemical addiction for children.
“Why do you wanna join the Horde?” “To escape the consequences of my actions, mostly.” “That’s what the Horde is all about!!!” :D I’ve never played WoW. But somehow, I still find a lot of this video pretty hilarious.
Well it's a big deal in wow. Horde side is kind of forgiving side, all races are welcome as long as they keep doing crimes. Every one is equal. Alliance side is more Strick, patriot and bit of racist. Up until draenai joins, they only welcome human looking people. Literally every race in horde join them because alliance hunt them.
Nothing faulty in the recap. LOTS of stuff left out obviously, but it hits all the major key points. It's difficult to explain a story that's been written for 20+ years at this point in a reasonable amount of time, and there's literally hundreds of thousands of little details and side things that can easily go off on a tangent as well. All in all this recap does great to bring people up to speed.
Hey! If you guys want to check out more WoW stuff I highly recommend reacting to the youtube documentary about the history of the game called: World of Warcraft - Pandora's Box. I think it's the single greatest documentary about WoW and was done by a former WoW youtuber who has been playing the game for 15 years so he knows what he is talking about. He is a very respected guy in the community and does some of the most quality WoW videos you can find on youtube. It's a pretty long video but you guys could split it into multiple parts just like with Bricky's videos so I think it's fine. There are also kind of "chapters" for the video so it will be easier to split it up into parts without losing some of the cohesion of the video. It's a really interesting and informative video not just about the lore but the game and the company itself (Blizzard) and it's evolution.
I only started playing WoW for real when Wrath of the Lich King came out which was the expansion that introduced the Death Knights which I totally loved and that became my main class as a Night Elf. Watching this I was only able to remember a few of the names and events that happened in the lore, I unfortunately had to stop playing before the recent expansion so I'm really missing the game after basically playing since I was a kid lol.
Nobbel87 is amazing at telling the lore of WoW in depth. The way he narrates the history is amazing if you guys ever see this comment give him a shot he's pretty cool to listen to☺️
Great recap video that one to say it's complicated and dense as in the background lore is an understatement played the game 14 years this May and I am still picking bits of lore up I am not aware of even now. Also, a huge thing for me that filled in a lot of gaps was the series of three books on the lore itself which goes even more in-depth than that video. Warcraft/WoW is a far more complex narrative and experiment than it appears and in the 20 years or more of existence, it's got more complicated. And here is an interesting thought what if that so-called "fictional" universe exists in our reality on a different plane of existence and we have somehow been writing that universe's actual existence ourselves with no knowledge of it. Anyway, a lot to take in there.
So um, yeah. That was.. a lot The warcraft universe thrives in telling separate stories, tbh, even though the full lore is pretty cool too. Mb you should check out stories focused on particular characters, so you might actually understand why people love these characters so much. For example, "Arthas The Lich King - Villains Corner (WoW Lore)" or "Kel'Thuzad - Villains Corner (WoW Lore)" These are well-paced animatic-videos 15-ish minutes each, love your reactions, hope to see more warcraft down the line
The Lich King + Ner'Zhul + Arthas is literally their best work. Just simply how Ner'Zhul becomes the Lich King. After escaping the planet through the Portal he is found by Kil'jaeden whom tortures him, tearing his body apart layer by layer as he begs for death & torturing his mind, finally killing him but capturing his soul then torturing his soul, pulling it to it's limits before it would shatter until he was completely obedient, then sealed him into the Helm of Domination, Frostmourne & the Armor, expanding his physic powers beyond Ner'Zhul's comprehension & sending him to Azeroth.
6:25 Ner'zhul, not Gul'dan. It was actualy the Ner'zhul who was corrupted by Kil'jeaden and Gul'dan was his apprentice. 19:45 Its in this alternate timeline/pocket dimension that Gul'dan is the one in charge, and its this Gul'dan 2.0 who then does all the later stuff. 19:45 was the Warlords of Draenor which got sort of axed halfway trough so the story line gets quite blurry (or blurrier then it already was) Also 13:55 Garithos was a human supremacist prick 16:00 Garrosh gives of the impression that had there bean a single emo band in the world of Azeroth, none of the atrocities that would not have happened There are so many inconsistencies in Warcraft's story line and lot of revisionism but this video at least gives you a general idea of what is going on
Yeah some of this has been retconned, Shadowlands really took it to a whole another level in retcons. In the end add: AND apparently the Grim Reaper called "The Jailer" is behind a lot of what we told you so far, playing 5d chess from the realm of hell called the Maw where he was imprisoned by the pantheon of Death, and wants to change reality so all can serve him. Sylvanas was on his side until she figured out he was *shock* evil and in it for himself only. And btw the Dreadlords, including Mal'ganis(who is still alive) and Kel'thuzad(who is now in afterlife too), really served the Jailer all the time. And there is this race of Uber Gods even beyond the Titans called "The First Ones", who created the whole reality, including all afterlives, which is basically constructed in a factory dimension run by automatons, one of which The Jailer now is pursuing so he can rewrite whole reality. Needless to say this revelation has been, mildly put, controversial amongst the fans.
Yeah it’ll be interesting to see the direction they go with Microsoft in charge. If they fix Shadowlands by basically saying it never happened or somehow looking to fix it in the next expansion 🤔
Shadowland does not really retcon anything. It simply goes more into details and gives you more knowledge about things you simply couldn't know before. That's not what retcon means, though. Overall Shadowlands closed some bigger plot holes. It for example never made much sense, that there has to be a LIch King. Why? To keep the scourge under control? When the Lich King controls the Scourge, you could just go rid of it with his help and then destroy the helmet, so this is clearly no reason. Also the Jailer is not behind a lot of things, he does what manipulators do - he manipulates. People act as if all of this is just a master plan like in many dumbn movies. A manipulator stays hidden and pushes and pulls a little at the right time, to steer thigns into the direction he wants. Most stories are simply not long enough, to show this in a good way, so you simply got the "that's a typical manipulator" and then this person most of the time just instantly fails, because else he would just win and this musn't happen. WoW did this quite well, to bring the cosmic power Death into play this way as the only one that did not seem to have done anything at all the whole time, and make it a sneaky one, that doesn't interact with mortals much like Life, Light, Order and Fel in a way or got its own, monstrous pawns like the Void with its Old Gods, but goes for steering the other cosmic powers against each other. By adding an outside like Zovaal or the betrayer Denathrius to it, you also gave them more depth than just being of ONE mind and just generally more good or more evil.
For example the "stronger than a Titan". The problem wasn't hat Titan can't destroy old gods, they would simply kill Azeroth, too, because the old gods dug deep into her like parasites. And the PC only defeat a small fraction of the old gods most of the time (even N'zoth, the weakest of all old gods is defeated by Azeroth's power, not by the player) - which are just tools anyway, the real gods behind the 'old gods' are the void lords.
There is a lot of entertainment in the lore series of WoW. One branch I want to mention is all the WoW machinima. A few small companies formed like Madcow, and a lot of creative individuals have spent a lot of time. Most of the vids are inside jokes that only a player would understand, but funny nonetheless. Nyhm's parody songs are some of my favorites. Some pvp vids like druidboy. Some talk about specific events like the rogue who trolled both factions when they were opening AQ. Not all of WoW history was made by Blizzard.
This comment is for everyone reading it. If you think there is a video these two lovely people haven't watched about Warcraft, please link them in the comments with details on why it should be watched. This video specifically was recommended by another commentator on an old video some weeks ago. I provided the link to the video that the commentator recommended in hopes @Definitely Not Definitive would see it. And they did and this is the result of it. It's more content for us viewers to watch and more content for these two to react to and share their thoughts on. (Note: look over their playlists and past videos so that you don't recommend a video they have already seen.)

Maaan I remember that solid glowing purple dome being tucked in behind terranmill for YEARS before they did anything with it lol. It wasn’t even big enough to cover the real Dalaran though.
There’s a super good 30 minute video in more depth explaining the night elves evolution and point of view on history that I LOVE definitely a suggestion too watch as well
Now that we're back, I'd like to mention that Trolls are actually NOT among the very first races. They evolved from the beasts, whereas the first mortals were the titan-watcher's creations(made of stone, metal, crystal, and magic), affected by "The Curse of Flesh." Making Dwarves, Gnomes, Vrykul, Giants, and Troggs the very first humanoids. With Elves and Humans actually being the youngest races on Azeroth(though still old enough to have seemingly existed for the last 10 000 years, at least). Meanwhile, elementals are far, faaar older. Technically I suppose the Eredar/Draenei are the oldest race. Although they're recent arrivals upon Azeroth. Unless we're counting all the demons, then I suspect the Ered'ruin(like Doom Lord Kazzak), to be the oldest race. The Trolls do however have the first known wide-spanning empires. I kinda disclude the Mogul, as they were relegated to Pandaria. The trolls are however somewhat contested by the Nerubians. And obviously outclassed by the Klaxxi and N'zoth, but I am not sure it's fair to count the pre-titan administration era. And they weren't exactly even sentient back then, just tools of the old gods. Also somewhat relegated to Pandaria. I suppose the Anubisath(contstruct sentients), and Aqir/Qiraji could count... But again, originally completely mindless slaves to the old god C'thun. Though I suppose techincally they are sentient, and so technically, argueably the oldest races on Azeroth. If we disclude the premise of them being humanoid, then we have the Dragons ofc. In theory, they should be the oldest sentient race(bearing in mind that the Aqir, Qiraji, Klaxxi and others of the Black Empire weren't actually 'sentient' at the time. From my understanding). Hmm, unless we count the Old Gods themselves... If so, I'd say they were first. They are what made mortals mortal after all. They in essence ARE "The Curse of Flesh."
yeeeees I'm so happy you continue with Warcraft. For more lore videos I must recommend Platinum WoW channel. His lore videos are the best. They aren't very long and even if, they are very funny and overall well made.
Trolls being the original first major civilization on the planet is a pretty cool move. As is humans, dwarves and gnomes evolving from freaking robots because evil squids said so LMAO.
There was definitely a lot of details in the video that touched up on some things, without actually giving enough info as to why that actually was. For example, when Nordrassil grew over the new well of eternity on mount hyjal, the guy says that the elves suddenly become immortal. This piece of info feels somewhat irrelevant as the reason behind their immortality wasn't mentioned. That reason being that the Dragon Aspects (or at least three of the original five) bless the tree and the elves. The Red dragon Alexstrasza blesses the tree and therefore the night elves with perfect health and vitality, the green dragon Ysera (Alexstrasza's sister) blesses the elves and the tree with a connection to nature overall and access to the Emerald Dream, so that lot of night elves who became druids can spend a lot of time protecting the Dream and learning from it, and then the most important blessing from Nozdormu grants the elves immortality for as long as the tree stays standing. Similarly, there was that one bit where it goes over Theramore being nuked, and then Jaina's hair suddenly turning white, which doesn't really correlate through that quick pass over the events. Her hair really goes white, as with most magic practicioners, because of magic. A large amount of magic / high exposure to raw magic has that effect where it turns people's hair white. Jaina's hair turned all white except for a single blonde strand on her head that remained golden blonde, and Khadgar is another individual whose body hair is just completely white due to high exposure to magic. This can be further linked to the original night elves under Azshara who ruled the empire with arcane magic. Pretty much all of those highborne who practised magic had ivory white hair, most likely due to the constant exposure and use of arcane magic.
Hey again DfD! If you want, I've got a totally done and up to date list of all the major World of Warcraft cinematics in chronological order With some annotations to denote the gaps in time or to make why they are in that order more apparent...been meaning to make it into a playlist.
Im glad you two are really enjoying the lore of Warcraft, you should look at getting the Chronicle books, which is basically the whole history of Warcraft in 3 volumes, they come with some amazing art and more background on the universe, particularly in the early stages. They will flesh out way more details that you seems to want. 25:00 The "prewar" stuff as you put is are the events depicted in Warcraft 1-3 the RTS games. At this point you really need to do a live stream/play through of Warcraft 3! :)
I agree with other people suggesting Platinum WoW. Lore content is almost all he does, and theyre very funny. Since yall are about done with nearly all the lore of the main blizzard games, I suggest yall check out the Heroes of the Storm trailers and cinematics. HotS is Blizzards take on the MOBA genre (League of Legends) but they use their own IP as the characters. So things like Kerrigan fighting Jaina or Diablo fighting Raynor.
Oh, you brave, brave souls... lmao I'm a particular fan of 6:10 "In a stunning display of nepotism..." and *evil baby noises* lmao. The use of the cutscenes help a lot because you have all the visual context to connect things. Ohhhhh yeah there is a LOT of stuff that happens in the Warcraft series. There was definitely a lot of confusion with the origin of Frostmourne and The Helm of Domination (Arthas' fancy helmet and sword). When this video was made, it was said that Kil'Jaeden created those pieces out of Ner'zhul and placed them in Northrend. It's been retconned (basically a change in writing by the creators) during the Shadowlands expansion that these items were stolen artifacts by the Legion from the Shadowlands, not Kil'Jaeden's punishment of Ner'zhul for being a bad boy (10:06). Later in the expansion, we are able to have a final battle with the "Remnants of Ner'zhul", encased in metal and and damned to suffer and serve within a raid in the Maw where Handsome Squidward resides. Anyway, I'll hop on the Nobbel bandwagon. He (imo) has the best video guides on WoW lore you can find. Also, I just really like his voice and how he pronounces thing hehe. Thank you for this nice treat! You've blessed my insomnia.
Really should watch the in game cutscenes of Warcraft 3, they really do help explain the story through out & what happen during those events from Arthas fall to Illidan sacrifice & so such more.
You should react to the hearthstone trailers. They are still set in the warcraft universe but are way more light-hearted and comedic because it's a card game. Also they all have catchy theme songs.
I completely forgot that there's actually a WoW video from Burning Crusade that you never reacted to. It's called "The Burning Crusade - Patch 2.3: The Gods of Zul'Aman"
Nobbel is way too slow in my opinion, he is very good but as a podcaster. I wouldn't recommand him for a reaction video.. You would have way more fun watching Platinumwow instead. He does nice animations, add joke and simplify the lore. So it's way less precise but it's very entertaining.
There is a reason the titans couldn't kill the old gods, it's cause the titans are so big and powerful there's an absurd amount of collateral damage. The most powerful old god was picked off the planet like a tick and squished by a titan, but that created the well of eternity, which the reason the well was filled with magic and made the trolls then night elves, is because the well is literally the planets blood. Which acts differently than azerite which is also the planets blood that didn't appear until flaming fel titan sword was plunged in. Honestly like even in this video you can see such a narrative decline as soon as time travel got involved lol. Legion may of been a top tier expansion gameplay wise, but after WoD who even knows what's going on at this point. Shadowlands entrance quest, literally the first quest you had to do to start the expansion, introduces a rock that you find out was made by "the first ones" who they are apparently above titans. And the titan Freya made the emerald dream, a druid thingy, based on Ardenweald in the shadowlands which is ruled by the winter queen, sister of elune who are not titans or first ones, and in the upcoming raid we see the lords of the shadowlands are all apparently robots. That is not a joke. Shit got wild.
Wow, back to WoW, I see! The whole history, nonetheless. After going through the journey and seeing all the cinematics and cutscenes and so forth that you did, nice to get this concise summary, I suppose. Lore and story overload, go! 😁 Cheers!
Athelarius is a nice one, ua-cam.com/video/UeooZNl_tDY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Athelarius its the stroy of Illidan with in game Cinematics and Gameplay (from WoW and Warcarft 3).A lot you dont see if you want know more about him.
Another thing I think you guys will love after your wow journey is the Blizzard World of Warcraft documentary "World of Warcraft Looking For Group Documentary" (on utube 1.01:46 long 7 years ago 4.7M views). Has lots of the Blizzard team who created Warcraft and famous players talking about epic moments in the games history, how the game became such a world wide success sending shockwaves through the gaming community and why the game means so much to so many people all around the world. Definitely worth checking out after your wow journey and if you could react to it (even if you have to break it up with it being an hour long) then would be awesome to see your guys reaction to it :)
Thank you it was great , there is long version of this over an hour i believe also Platinum wow videos about wow are so amazing and fun to watch and react you can pick one of his videos next .
Told ya to watch the longer one first! :3 Well at least you're gonna do it. And yeah. Anything backstory in WoW usually starts with "ten thousand years ago", "Elves", "Trolls", or "Titans".
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames You cheaters! Bah, who cares. You'll find Nobbel's video to be so much more vast in details and nothing is going to be rushed. It will be QUITE a ride.
I wish I remember to respond and add some info you were missing about all this tomorrow. When I am not so tired I can't even keep a lucid thought for more than a few seconds at a time.
It's wrong about one thing: Thrall wasn't cheating when he killed Garrosh with magic in the Mak'gora. A mak'gora is just a duel of honor. Like, that's the literal translation. In the Warcraft movie, the first Horde has a standing no-magic rule, but there has never been such a rule in the core canon. Although contestants are allowed to set their own rules, and violating the chosen rules DOES count as cheating. Many fans also think Thrall lost his shamanic abilities because of the "cheating", but it was just his guilt and self-doubt from having ever given Garrosh leadership of the Horde in the first place. Also, the very last bit about the heroes killing themselves to go to the Shadowlands was speculation and turned out to be wrong. Bolvar used the broken helm to open a portal that we jump through, with Tyrande being the first person to jump through.
I mean.. I'm not saying I'm a specialist in mak'gora or anything, but I'm pretty sure a standard mak'gora you bring one weapon to the fight and that's it. If Thrall starts with the hammer, he should stay physical and any usage of magic would be against the rules (thus, dishonorable). At the very least, we can safely say that if he didn't cheat, then Sylvanas didn't cheat either, since they did the exact same thing. People keep saying Sylvanas cheated, and if that's true, then Thrall sure as hell did too. In any case, I think it was just referred to as cheating in the video for comedic purposes so all good
Oh boi :D I think you've got this suggestion a milion times already, but please consider watching PlatinumWoW's videos... they touch on specific events, are quite short AND are full of jokes... I think it's the best way to understand, at least somewhat, what is going on!
I'm bummed out that he mentioned the Troll Wars in which Arathor humans and the newly arrived Kalimdor-exiles/High Elves were fighting against the native Amani trolls, which ultimately caused the Amani trolls to join the Horde in the First War at the same time as the Elves joined the Alliance. Green Amani forest trolls were part of the Horde in the First and Second War and then were somehow turned into a hostile to everyone faction when Blizzard decided to have Thrall's Horde only include the Darkspear trolls (blue skinned, jungle trolls) and instead have Blood Elves (previously High Elves) join his Horde, which made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
If you'll be reacting to PlatinumWoW, is there any chance of letting us know when would that be uploaded? I'm a bit hyped, been wanting to see how enjoyable his videos are for non wow players for a while and haven't found any reaction nor I have english speaking friends that don't play wow to recommend him to them.
I would sincerely recommend you the story of Guild Wars 2. This game is known for its great history and rich world. The best summary of all story I know is from Laranity, it's approximately 25min too.
I am pretty sure the Titans could kill the Old Gods, they just knew that they shouldn't. It's like the demons respawning. All the Old Gods in Warcraft are literally different body parts. The eyes, the heart, the mouth, the mind. Clearly these separated Old Gods are just parts to one big one. That's why the Titans wouldn't kill them, destroy them all and they'll return as the one being.
The titans did kill one Old God, Y'shaarj, as Aman'Thul physically reached down and pulled the cancerous god from the planet's crust. This caused the Titans to realise that it was impossible to kill the Old Gods without permanatly wounded the World Soul, and so chose to imprison them instead. Said wound left by Y'shaarj was the Well of Eternity, which is why the night elves evolved so much faster from their troll forms and had the strongest of magics (Whether the Well of Eternity was the first azerite rupture is up to interpretation).
You could go react to actual history, especially with Sabaton History. So many cool events, things, people there like the battle for Castle Itter, the only instance where a US tank battalion fought alongside German SS officers, German Wehrmacth troops and French tennis star, French WW 1 General and politician against a full German SS division. Or the story of Winter War and so many other stories within that, like the Soldier of 3 armies Larry A Thorne. You also get RL female badasses like the Soviet Night Witches. An all female soviet bomber regiment that flew obsolete biplanes and became both famed and feared for their precision, stealth and unusual tactics.
If you want more lore on certain people or events and stuff, I'd suggest the channel Nobbel87. He goes through all the lore and recaps of basically everything ever in WoW.
There are a lot of recommendations on Nobbel and Platinum (both of them are gr8!) but honestly I think you should watch the Warcraft III in-game cutscenes first. You've done the cinematics already but there's a lot of content in between those that you've missed (almost 5 hours). It basically tells the story of the Third War (+ it mentions a lot of stuff from the past lore) and does a gr8 job at describing the most beloved characters of WoW (Thrall, Arthas, Jaina, Sylvanas, Tyrande, the Stormrage bros and more). I'd say most of the players consider W3 to be the heart of the story. They're split into 9 parts according to the races it follows (so again, lots of content for you guys^^). You can watch them here: ua-cam.com/video/1qxB2Y4FLJU/v-deo.html
The thing about the Titans can't kill Old Gods but players can .... it's just not true. The Titans DID kill an Old God but the magical backlash nearly killed Azeroth's world soul. That's why the imprissoned the other Old Gods. The players kill tiny avatars of the Old Gods every single time it's shown to happen in game. Even the latest one, N'Zoth is still simply severely weakened and banished back to his prison, he certainly too more damage than any of the others but he isn't dead. The reason an Old God dying is so dangerous to Azeroth herself is that the Old Gods had thousands of years to burrow into the world before the titans found Azeroth and cleaned up the place so now they are metaphysically (and possibly physically) close enough to the world soul they can affect it directly with something as big and their dying spasms. At least this is how it worked last time I dug into the lore - I wouldn't put it past Blizz to have retconed parts or all of this twice over by now.
i really like you guys, funny and Great at reacting, and btw apex just droped the stories from out lands, launch trailer, meet the legend, and gameplay trailer, i think it would be cool to react to all of them in one video❤️❤️
If you want a massive investment in time but probably the deepest history lesson you can get(Even an hour long "history of WoW" that adds in much more context to this kind of thing, Look up Nobbel. He does stories on the game(In game and via the books all brought in) and he does stories based on the characters to learn of their stories. Some are broken up into parts as well so you don't have to blast through hours of content in one go. I DEFINITELY recommend his stuff if you genuinely want to learn more of the stories in the game vs just the overarching story. Also I know I mentioned it but he has an entire hour long video on the history of WoW up to I believe the start of BFA, so one expansion behind, that goes into more depth than this video did with the entire history. And he also talks much slower.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Oh good! I hope you guys enjoy your time with him and get to learn a lot! I enjoy his content quite a lot, so I hope you guys do too!
yeah theres so much detail in the lore which is why when they came out with the warcraft movie, it felt so rushed! i feel like a witcher-type show/series would do warcraft justice over a movie
Feels like most games are better suited for TV over movies. Especially with so many characters in it. Like imagine if they tried to make Game of Thrones into three movies instead of the seasons. They probably would’ve all turned out like the last season of that show. Rushed and unsatisfying 🤗
I recommend you watch "Nobbel" videos, his videos are always specific to a certain character but he explains enough background to that character so u can understand even without seeing the whole picture. He has videos like "story of Sylvanas" or "the story of Illidan" and they are very nice, slow and easy to understand. I also recommend "PlatinumWoW" videos but he is more generic to certain races or story as a whole, and his videos are full of comedy.
about the killing the world soul part. somehow I doubt he was trying to kill Azeroth when he clearly had more than enough time to do it prior to being dragged away from the planet. like he could've easily just cleaved Azeroth in half if he wanted to kill her.
That ending is exactly what I expect from Shadowlands. "HEROES! The AFTERLIFE is attacking Azeroth! We've all got to KILL OURSELVES so we can go FIGHT THE AFTERLIFE! LET'S GO!" -STAB- Heroes: "YEAAAAAHHHH!" -mass suicide commences- Time to fight the plot device who retroactively is responsible for everything that ever happened ever, thus robbing all characters of all agency and making the entire series and all of its lore absolutely meaningless!
Hello Kenny and Bethany for Honor has a new pirate class with the awesome moveset that you guys need to check out added to the list for Honor pirate class
Definitely agree that the video is a bit too fast, it goes at a speed that someone who is familiar with Warcraft can appreciate and reminisce about but is way too fast for everyone else.
those Videos from Hurricane, I sent them to ya in order. it will give you the video experience of PLAYING old Classic WoW and Burning Crusade Ill send them to ya again
I always laugh at Jaina's "I sure love magic" *BOOM* "I sure love killing orcs"
😂
and blood elves :D
"Varian is desenchanted by Gul Dan"
This one is really good 😂
😂😂🤣
I've been playing this game for 15 +years, and even watching this at 75% speed, it's STILL a lot of information to go over lol
😂 makes us feel a little better that it was over our head 😛
Exactly lol I've been playing since 2007 and I just watched at 75% and still had to pause and skip back several times
Nice! Always love a video that sparks a good discussion 😀
this story began in 1994 and is still going, so... it was really well done.

Platinum WoW has some really good entertaining lore videos on the history of WarCraft that yous would enjoy.
That and Nobbel seem to be the go to places for lore 😀
“Why do you wanna join the Horde?”
“To escape the consequences of my actions, mostly.”
“That’s what the Horde is all about!!!” :D
I’ve never played WoW.
Love the fact you guys are so invested in WoW's lore, it's really cool!
We enjoy the character and world building 🙂
Nothing faulty in the recap. LOTS of stuff left out obviously, but it hits all the major key points. It's difficult to explain a story that's been written for 20+ years at this point in a reasonable amount of time, and there's literally hundreds of thousands of little details and side things that can easily go off on a tangent as well. All in all this recap does great to bring people up to speed.
Man I hadn't thought about the fact that this recap is technically over a year per minute. on average. That's... crazy.
Thanks for the vid recommendation 🙂
I only started playing WoW for real when Wrath of the Lich King came out which was the expansion that introduced the Death Knights which I totally loved and that became my main class as a Night Elf. Watching this I was only able to remember a few of the names and events that happened in the lore, I unfortunately had to stop playing before the recent expansion so I'm really missing the game after basically playing since I was a kid lol.
Nobbel87 is amazing at telling the lore of WoW in depth.
The way he narrates the history is amazing if you guys ever see this comment give him a shot he's pretty cool to listen to☺️
On our list to check out some of his stuff 🙂
The whole history of World of Warcraft! It's incredible!
It’s intense 🤯
Wow it's horrible. It was up until Warcraft3 that the lore was good.
@@Mecanotech everything until the end of MoP was good, wod was weird, legion was Avenger, bfa was wasted and SL is 🤡
so good to see you react to wow again! Pls do consider react "to a toast to 15yrs", its super fun! Love u guys
Have it on our request list 🙂
That sounds kinda like the Never Ending Story 😀
So um, yeah. That was.. a lot
The warcraft universe thrives in telling separate stories, tbh, even though the full lore is pretty cool too.
Mb you should check out stories focused on particular characters, so you might actually understand why people love these characters so much.
For example, "Arthas The Lich King - Villains Corner (WoW Lore)"
or "Kel'Thuzad - Villains Corner (WoW Lore)"
These are well-paced animatic-videos 15-ish minutes each,
love your reactions, hope to see more warcraft down the line
Thanks for the vid suggestions! And yes, this was a lot at once. Glad we didn’t start with this because it can make WoW seem overwhelming 🤯
19:45 was the Warlords of Draenor which got sort of axed halfway trough so the story line gets quite blurry (or blurrier then it already was)
Also 13:55 Garithos was a human supremacist prick
16:00 Garrosh gives of the impression that had there bean a single emo band in the world of Azeroth, none of the atrocities that would not have happened
There are so many inconsistencies in Warcraft's story line and lot of revisionism but this video at least gives you a general idea of what is going on
We get a general sense of what we’ve retained in our journey and what still needs work 🙂
Yeah some of this has been retconned, Shadowlands really took it to a whole another level in retcons.
I can recommend the "Ulduar the Movie" for a raiding Experience in WoW without actually having to raid. Its fantastic
Thanks for the vid rec 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames my pleasure ^^ ulduar is also one of the best raids in the game, and its well done as movie ^^ have fun =)
What an amazingly 70% accurate and 30% truth bending summary of the history of Azeroth.
Well at least it made 50% more sense... 🤔
🤣
@@magnuscarlsson9969 Not really.
Happy to see more reactions!
Story of each race or of characters you are interested in sounds good going forward.

I was a huge Warcraft Lore fanatic up until a few years ago, read every book, etc.
This is spot on lol.
😎🤟
Feels like old gods are gods so maybe don’t count but the dragons should 🤔
yeeeees I'm so happy you continue with Warcraft. For more lore videos I must recommend Platinum WoW channel. His lore videos are the best. They aren't very long and even if, they are very funny and overall well made.
Looking forward to checking out some of their vids 😀
Trolls being the original first major civilization on the planet is a pretty cool move. As is humans, dwarves and gnomes evolving from freaking robots because evil squids said so LMAO.
🤣
That’s a pretty cool fun fact about why all the mages have white hair in these. Hadn’t realized that before 😀
Hey again DfD! If you want, I've got a totally done and up to date list of all the major World of Warcraft cinematics in chronological order With some annotations to denote the gaps in time or to make why they are in that order more apparent...been meaning to make it into a playlist.
Another great vid though 👌
We’ve done most of the major WoW cinematics for our journey. Missed a couple here and there but we did cover almost all of them 😅
Im glad you two are really enjoying the lore of Warcraft, you should look at getting the Chronicle books, which is basically the whole history of Warcraft in 3 volumes, they come with some amazing art and more background on the universe, particularly in the early stages. They will flesh out way more details that you seems to want. 25:00 The "prewar" stuff as you put is are the events depicted in Warcraft 1-3 the RTS games. At this point you really need to do a live stream/play through of Warcraft 3! :)
Main problem is that we don’t really play on PC ever. We are console players 🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames We will get you joining the PC crowd sooner or later, so many great games!
Sounds like a good time to see out heroes and villains from different franchise beat up on each other 😀
Oh, you brave, brave souls... lmao
I'm a particular fan of 6:10 "In a stunning display of nepotism..." and *evil baby noises* lmao.
Obligatory I AM MY SCARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRS
Haha, love the obligatory I am my scars 😁🤗😂 And yes, the nepotism line is one we remember for sure and was also pretty funny
Really should watch the in game cutscenes of Warcraft 3, they really do help explain the story through out & what happen during those events from Arthas fall to Illidan sacrifice & so such more.
Yup. Something we need to go back to 😅
You should react to the hearthstone trailers. They are still set in the warcraft universe but are way more light-hearted and comedic because it's a card game. Also they all have catchy theme songs.
We plan to check those out at some point. Nice to know it’s upbeat and light-hearted 😀
I completely forgot that there's actually a WoW video from Burning Crusade that you never reacted to. It's called "The Burning Crusade - Patch 2.3: The Gods of Zul'Aman"
Thanks for letting us know! 🙂
Good day, Got my brew ready. lets watch some warcraft together:)
Cheers! 🍻🥂🍾
You should watch some of Nobbel's videos as he goes into more detail about the bigger characters/events and talks slower 😂
Haha, slower would be nice and we heard Nobel is a great channel 😊
Time travel always screws things up. Really hard to incorporate it without being super confusing
Wow, back to WoW, I see! The whole history, nonetheless. After going through the journey and seeing all the cinematics and cutscenes and so forth that you did, nice to get this concise summary, I suppose. Lore and story overload, go! 😁 Cheers!
Definitely little bit of overload. But it made us realize how little we still know 😂🤯
I am not sober and this was a hell of a ride!
🤣
Athelarius is a nice one, ua-cam.com/video/UeooZNl_tDY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Athelarius its the stroy of Illidan with in game Cinematics and Gameplay (from WoW and Warcarft 3).A lot you dont see if you want know more about him.
I always enjoy watching the lore slowly go absolutely batshit twords the end.
Haha
I just have to recommend Nobbel's "The Story of the Lich King", it's like 3h long (I know.. too long, but worth it)
We can break that up 😇
Another thing I think you guys will love after your wow journey is the Blizzard World of Warcraft documentary "World of Warcraft Looking For Group Documentary" (on utube 1.01:46 long 7 years ago 4.7M views).
Will add to our request list 🙂
Thank you it was great , there is long version of this over an hour i believe also Platinum wow videos about wow are so amazing and fun to watch and react you can pick one of his videos next .

Watching this while smelting ores in Warcraft hahaha

Told ya to watch the longer one first! :3 Well at least you're gonna do it.
And yeah. Anything backstory in WoW usually starts with "ten thousand years ago", "Elves", "Trolls", or "Titans".
Haha, we were forewarned to watch the longer one first 🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames You cheaters!
All good. We will still be here 😇🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Added my more comprehensive response somewhere below.
In any case, I think it was just referred to as cheating in the video for comedic purposes so all good
Good video as always, guys! Just my recommendation but you guys should watch all God of War 1 bosses next maybe?
Going back to the beginning for Kratos ☺️
Oh boi :D I think you've got this suggestion a milion times already, but please consider watching PlatinumWoW's videos... they touch on specific events, are quite short AND are full of jokes... I think it's the best way to understand, at least somewhat, what is going on!
Also I'd suggest his video titled something like "Stratholme, the most tragic city" as it is about a major event for the character of Arthas
Definitely looking at checking out some of their videos for the future 😀
Nobbel87 is the best channel for Warcraft lore.

I watched this at 75% speed 😂
If you'll be reacting to PlatinumWoW, is there any chance of letting us know when would that be uploaded? I'm a bit hyped, been wanting to see how enjoyable his videos are for non wow players for a while and haven't found any reaction nor I have english speaking friends that don't play wow to recommend him to them.
Outside of our schedule we post for the week on Sundays we don’t like to promise when videos will be coming out 🤗
I would sincerely recommend you the story of Guild Wars 2. This game is known for its great history and rich world. The best summary of all story I know is from Laranity, it's approximately 25min too.
We do have that game on our request list to check out at some point 😇
We do history videos and more stuff outside of games on our other channel we started ua-cam.com/users/DefinitelyNotDefinitive2🥳🥳
If you want more lore on certain people or events and stuff, I'd suggest the channel Nobbel87. He goes through all the lore and recaps of basically everything ever in WoW.
Thanks for the channel rec! 😀 Nobbel and Platinum WoW seem to be the place to go for good lore vids 🤩
Thanks for sharing the link. We do plan to check those out at some point but not sure we will dive in right away 😇
You should try Flying Buttress' channel to get the full story of Arthas he does like funny audiobooks
Thanks for channel rec 🙂
So they're like parasites dug too deep into the 'flesh' of the world and pulling them out would cause the world to bleed to death?
Amazing video!!! Keep it up :) (althought it was a bit non-pause xD)
😂🤗
What a day! Warframe AND Warcraft!
😁🥳
Ah World of Warcraft game with such complicated history.
Yup 🤯
You should read books too. Specially Chronicle 1, 2 and 3
You only know 0.01 of the story now😁
Haha, yeah maybe even .01 is generous. But we will continue to explore 🙂
It was much cooler when you got to play with your friends!...it was an era of fun I will always Cherrish!
☺️
i really like you guys, funny and Great at reacting, and btw apex just droped the stories from out lands, launch trailer, meet the legend, and gameplay trailer, i think it would be cool to react to all of them in one video❤️❤️
Glad you are enjoying the reactions and we definitely want to react to the new Apex vids 😀
If you gonna watch more deadbattle
Watch:
Goku black vs reverse flash
Ghost rider vs lobo
Doctor strange vs Doctor fate
Doctor Strange vs Doctor Fate sounds cool as hell 😀
We do plan to check out that channel and Platinum WoW for some good lore vids 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Oh good! I hope you guys enjoy your time with him and get to learn a lot! I enjoy his content quite a lot, so I hope you guys do too!
If you are interested in more "WoW history in a nutshell" videos you should watch Platinum WoW. The guy is pretty good at it.
We plan to check out some of this vids 🙂
yeah theres so much detail in the lore which is why when they came out with the warcraft movie, it felt so rushed! i feel like a witcher-type show/series would do warcraft justice over a movie
Feels like most games are better suited for TV over movies. Especially with so many characters in it. Like imagine if they tried to make Game of Thrones into three movies instead of the seasons. They probably would’ve all turned out like the last season of that show. Rushed and unsatisfying 🤗
Just in case you dont know, UA-cam has the option to slow down the videos by 25% up to a total of 100% slower.
We didn’t know that but now will utilize that for the future 😀
Great video 👍👍
23 minutes is really too short to summarize and to tell this universe and incredible story that is wow
Facts 💯
I recommend you watch "Nobbel" videos, his videos are always specific to a certain character but he explains enough background to that character so u can understand even without seeing the whole picture. He has videos like "story of Sylvanas" or "the story of Illidan" and they are very nice, slow and easy to understand. I also recommend "PlatinumWoW" videos but he is more generic to certain races or story as a whole, and his videos are full of comedy.
Both channels we plan on checking out at some point 🙂
Highly recommend "Warcraft 3 Reforged All Cutscenes & Cinematics" by Noone182
😎👍😀
Longest ~25 minutes of my life
but worth it
😂🤗
about the killing the world soul part. somehow I doubt he was trying to kill Azeroth when he clearly had more than enough time to do it prior to being dragged away from the planet. like he could've easily just cleaved Azeroth in half if he wanted to kill her.
Ok ok but... really? How perfect a description is "Sentient Chandelier"?
😂
Definitely Platinum WoW, he is the best
You guys should do a reaction to the warcraft movie, i'd watch that :)
At some point we may 🙂
That ending is exactly what I expect from Shadowlands. "HEROES! The AFTERLIFE is attacking Azeroth! We've all got to KILL OURSELVES so we can go FIGHT THE AFTERLIFE! LET'S GO!" -STAB-
Heroes: "YEAAAAAHHHH!" -mass suicide commences-
Time to fight the plot device who retroactively is responsible for everything that ever happened ever, thus robbing all characters of all agency and making the entire series and all of its lore absolutely meaningless!
They should try watching the cutscenes of warcraft 3 or some parts of of wow that has a important dialogue to the story
Yeah we need to watch the full story of Warcraft 3 🙂
Try the reforged version of the cutscenes
I love warcraft lore
It’s intense and immense 🤩🤯
If you guys were going to play World of Warcraft, would you be Alliance or Horde. and what races?
Hello Kenny and Bethany for Honor has a new pirate class with the awesome moveset that you guys need to check out added to the list for Honor pirate class
We love Pirates and dig For Honor. Seem like a win win 🏴☠️ 🥳😎🤟
Ooooh very good choice for video!
Community always suggests us fun vids to check out 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames well hopefully you lot get to those hearthstone ones at some point. Feel you lot would love them!
Definitely agree that the video is a bit too fast, it goes at a speed that someone who is familiar with Warcraft can appreciate and reminisce about but is way too fast for everyone else.
Was just curious why 23 minutes? Was this released on 23 year anniversary 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I have no idea why 23 minutes was the target as Warcraft is only 18 years old now so who knows lol
We can't nor did kill the old gods.
React to “DBZ budokai 3 all ultimates and fusions” swear to god your gonna love it
Will add it to our request list 😇

Another awesome reaction
Thanks! 😀🥳🤗
