Thanks so much for great video and saving me $ and being w/o a car until the dealer had an opening. The brake switch pin stuck down was the problem why my 2019 pilot wouldn't start. A couple of comments.. There is a locking tab on the connector harness which needs to be pressed to release it. You show this in the video but I don't think it is mentioned at all so it easy to miss. Also, as a temporary fix before getting to the dealer for a new switch, I opened up the defective switch and was able to free (pry out with small screw driver) the stuck internal mechanical part so the switch would operate properly and the car started and brake lights were all working. I don't trust the "fixed switch" in the long term so I went and got a new switch now that I could get my disabled vehicle started. Thanks again !
Your video saved my day, thanks! 😁 My vehicle's issue is the switch was faulty installed (inserted too deep), and the brake pedal knocked the sleeve out of position, caused the brake lights kept on for whole night and almost killed the battery. The multiple electrical systems warming were on as well... Blame my wife, she just ignored the issue and "planned" to tell me next day.
Very nice. Maybe you could do a short series on where all your fluids are located on different Hondas? For example, not as easy on this model to drain and replace antifreeze as it is on older ones. On my old odyssey the drain is in plain view, on a newer Pilot, it’s not.
Love your videos!!!! I chatted with you about the TLX type S!! Thanks for the advice but also kinda a funny so my dad has a pilot and I do aswell just for now lol and I bet this will come in handy THANKS!!!
Bro... if you come across a 10th gen accord w/ this prob please post it and share the same info. I know it has a similar switch I just don't think its as obvious when you look for it. Then again, it could have been that I was just aggravated because of the dark and rain. LOL :) Good stuff man. 😆
Taking mine to the mechanic tomorrow. It happens off and on and Twice this week. It starts eventually, but I felt the brakes lock up. Would this come up on their diagnostic computer if they don’t listen to me to check the starter and or the brake switch? Also, having issue w auto stop after the recall update. 2021 pilot special edition*
So it may have a code for the brake switch but sometimes does not. Also the auto stop recall update will reduce the amount of times it actually goes into auto stop. If that’s what your experiencing, it’s part of the software updates
@@BCautosutions thank you for responding. It actually turned off on me when I was leaving a shopping center and it was scary (just saw one of your videos). This was after the update. I now have to turn off auto stop when I drive to avoid that situation. I also have experienced my alarm going off in the middle of the night (lights and all since they are on auto)! It’s been frustrating. I cleaned the hood latch (saw a video). It hasn’t happened again. This is my second Pilot. My 2016 had transmission issues among other things.
@@janoskydesigns ok so you need to go back and tell them it’s not restarting. They will need to change a few relays, starter, perform a valve adjustment, and a few other things. There’s a service bulletin for it. Your alarm going off is most likely you keyless access unit going faulty. Very common.
What about waking up and the brake petal is totally stiff and try to start the car on 2020 honda pilot and it doesn't start and you notice the brake has no movement at all and have to mash it down to get it to start .lots of complaints about this .dealer said that's normal(that brake petal is stiff and not starting ) and several other dealers changed the brake booster but came back months later
I haven’t seen or heard of that issue yet either. Not sure why they changed the booster, they shouldn’t have. If they suspected a vacuum leak the car would be throwing a lean code. Seems like a reach imo.
@Hondamobilemechanic ok yeah I'm having this issue and both my family members with a 2017 and 18 and my 2020 and my friends 2020 all having this issue ,brake petal very hard as a rock won't start and having to mash down they brought it to dealer and they told them it's normal lmao.few dozen people on forums had replaced booster most was fixed no problem over a yr some said it came back.they scanned mine nothing comes up .found nothing wrong I even gave them a video of it happening but they said they don't know.but I had 4 family member bring it in left over night and 1 dealer said it was normal lol ,another honda dealer said we don't know and sent them away
@@pilot2020 seems like there are reports of confirmed repairs of master cylinder slight leak and brake booster not holding vacuum (separate repairs for separate vehicles). If you have had the booster replaced it’s possible you have a faulty master or vise versa. If the dealer is willing to help and you feel it’s a legit concern/issue I would visit a different dealer.
I have a issue with my 2017 Honda pilot.. I bought it brand new no accidents ... I was wondering if you jave heard about this issue..i follow something called Piloteers and many people are have this issue with their pilot as well and the dealership has not been able to figure it out..
Hey, so your issue is most likely the keyless access unit. There should be data stored to help identify or alteast point the mechanic/dealer in the right direction. I have seen that issue many times on the current generation pilot. The unit will have to be programmed in order to start the car afterwards. Make sure the person the job has all the keys you have and can program them. Let me know how it goes.

Will do, it’s most likely same part number or very similar but the location is probably harder/tighter to get to.
If my car does this and is not the break switch, could it be the battery then?

one forum member had luck replacing check valve. Dealer Says normal. I just push pedal harder in morning.
How did you reset the errors? We did the same thing but the brake wont release and errors are still there (car turned on)
Scan tool or disconnect battery to clear codes
So if mine is broken am I basically stranded until I get it replaced?
Unless you can feed the s terminal on the start with battery voltage. Then yes
What does it mean if the brake lights do come on? Is it still this issue or something else? My 18mo old Honda is doing this right now.
Yea something else is going on. Could be a a starter
Can I buy a brake switch to autozone store for the replacement?
If they have in stock, sure
