- Loneliness in the elderly is a huge problem in the UK, especially within the elderly community. We wanted to raise awareness of this issue especially after a year full of anxiety, separation and isolation.
So we put together this short film inspired by the John Lewis Christmas Adverts to get the message across to love and look after each other this Christmas.

When you *are* that elderly person, completely alone and isolated every Xmas despite having children and grandchildren, this hits home. Thank goodness I have my animals.The only time my daughter in law will have any interest in me is when I'm dead and she wants to know how much money will be coming to her and my son.(The answer is none. Not one penny.)
That is so sad. No one should treat someone like that. I know i'm a stranger to you, but you have my best wishes.
So very sad, but there are so many people like you in that position. We have quite a selfish generation. I also have two sons who have no interest in me whatsoever, no contact. Like you I have my animals, and they keep me going.
How right you are. My daughter in law hates me and I've never understood why.ive been blocked from seeing my grandchildren. Thankyou for your recognition of a lonely old ladys plight.
@@janetyrrell9135 There are I believe support groups around for grandparents apart from their grandchildren and children. Sadly there far too many people like yourself, me included. Unless you have expereinced the pain from being apart from your family, then it is often hard for others not to understand, the grief, this creates. It is a form of 'grief'.
This makes me so sad. I live 5000 miles from my mum and miss her so much as does my daughter. We were supposed to have been with her right now but because of Covid that has not happened. Your children do not know how lucky they are to be close to their mother. Its rare I get to spend Christmas with mine.
These precious animals can change a life. Please lets change theirs that need it. Reach out to animals in need, there is a safe, warm place waiting for them in someone's heart .
I so wish this was really on tv. I'm only guessing it isn't but Jesus needs to be celebrated at Christmas.
What a lovely commercial. Reminds me of the olden day commercials where effort was put into them.

The story is great, all except the ending. After all is said and done, the dog would still have jumped up in that bed--no doubt in my mind at all!!
I've watched this more than a few times, and this is the first time I realized that the man joins the dog on the dog's bed! I had to watch it full screen (and get the tears out of my eyes) to see it.
@@maucarla883 Holy cow, I missed that. good catch. I soooo expected the dog to jump up, I never considered the man to join the dog.
@@MikeEgypte It seemed a little empty and disappointing before I noticed it! It's a much better ending. Also, I think it is interesting that he uses a can most of the time, except when the dog decides to take him for a run!

Nice touch that the husky dog got a bed next to his human companion. I shed a tear or two over this.
If you watch it on a full screen, you will see that the man cuddles next to the dog on the dog's bed at the very end.
This is my favorite, but as someone already said it would be 1000 better if the man join the dog on the new bed. JJ Hellers song is perfect too. Pet owner here, I love It! 💞

I love this so much. I'm younger, but disabled, and tend to be a bit isolated socially because of that. My dog has kept me from so much despair and loneliness and sadness. He, and my beloved pug before him, are the reasons I've stuck things out. What a beautiful ad showing what that relationship can mean, especially the last few years!
We all need each other,especially now. Look after other folk especially the elderly who may be alone. Drop a wee meal, a bit of baking or just say hello through the window.
My eyes are leaking I need a tissue. Please know that even when you feel lonely somebody somewhere is thinking of you although we may not know each other. God Bless Happy Christmas.

Raises an awareness to the elderly age range.Maybe not just children in need but also their grandparents and great grandparents.Poignant phrophecy for all younger generations and a true message for Christmas.....giving and sharing love and time.
John Lewis should sack their advertising company and hire the one who did this Nimbus beds one! What a gem.
Life's struggles and joys are both more and less when you have someone to share them with. Even those if us with 4 legs instead of 2 can help ease the load

A beautiful ad...very poignant and touching with a delightful soundtrack...hopefully it will encourage us to reach out to others...which is at the heart of the message of Christmas..

A heartfelt ad that certainly made me well up but PLEASE don't buy a dog as a Christmas gift! If you're serious about getting a canine friend, wait 'til mid-to-late January when, I can guarantee, Dogs Trust and other charities will be struggling to give huge numbers of deserving dogs 'forever homes'!
That makes no sense, people can only be lonely at Christmas right?
That’s why I always buy my wife a new vacuum cleaner every Christmas 🤶, and not a cheep one either , it’s got wheels n everything, it doesn’t bark , and you don’t have too feed it and if your lucky 🍀 you might get a Christmas hug , funnily enough I never do 😔

I had just watched the other alternative ad and it was so sad, ... I was watching this one and thinking ''this dog better not die'' and it never and the guy is still alive so everyone's a winner, .. Good advert!
Just like lawyers, advertisers can get a bad rap. When you see what can be done in the likes of this timely and responsible ad, all of the positive outweighs the negative. Brilliant and awe-inspiring. From the U.S. here... 🙏❤️

Remember if you give your aged loved ones a pet, or they have one, that pet must be provided for to have a truly loving forever home after they are gone. Too many. "families" throw the animal away like a piece of garbage. 💔

Its a beautiful add but please remember: do NOT give animals as a gift to anyone at any celebration. This is how many animals end up abandoned...an animal is a lot of love but also a lot of responsibility.
If it wasn't for my service dog, I don't think life would be worth living. I'm just a forgotten disabled Veteran.

This commercial made me cry....I remember the dogs I've had throughout my life...
Much better alternative to the, what I found to be racist and very offensive John Lewis advert. Well done. I don't expect everyone to understand this? For me dogs are far better company than most humans. You know where you are with them, always. I now think I know why some people have reported hearing ghosts sobbing. It could be for love lost and they are irreparably heartbroken? This add has a Goodnight Mr Tom style to it I think..

It is the same throughout the world this year. We recently lost my 99 year old mother-in-law basically to the loneliness created when only a couple of family members could go into the seniors home she lived at. Before Covid happened she was easily on her way to 100 and more.
This advert is Heartwarming and so positive.
The John Lewis advert is far too negative.
In fact plain miserable.
I love that even with Christmas adverts that are both about supporting others, you feel the need to take sides.

This commercial is so bittersweet. Most of my family is now gone, and those who are left don't bother (If I don't call them, I'd never talk with them).
