Hey Mengu, I was the 5-0 reanimator player next to you in 4 Seasons (1:20:40). I had a lot of foils in my reanimator deck: 3/4 entombs 2/4 reanimates all 4 unmasks 4 exhume 4 animate dead and 4 Griselbrand were foil. To me they seemed not curled at all and I never had problems with them in the past. I was still asked to replace them all within 10 minutes. It took me way over 10 minutes to replace them all (non foil unmask was the most difficult one to find), so I had to concede the match vs ANT where I was up one game, without having seen any of their cards! I played out the rest of the tournament, lost the first match after returning due to nerves and bad variance. I ended up winning the last 2 matches ending up 7-2 on the 14th place or something.
I wish they had some proxy solution for these situations, replacing over 20 cards in 10 minutes is hardly possible.
What makes the story even funnier is that just before round 6 when it happened, my friends decided to drive back without me, since we initially planned to leave on Sunday back home. I had just decided to prolong my stay as I was 5-0, almost anticipating that my luck would change as soon as I decided to stay. But it was an amazing tournament run for me regardless (would have most likely made tops if not for that incident) and got to meet you and spend some time in Bologna eating good food. So all in all still a fun experience and crazy story to tell.

Why don't they allow proxies in these cases? You have the real cards after all! Anyway, this is why I try to avoid foils when playing tournaments...

@@golgariguy I wish they would allow proxies in these situations, as it is way less stressful to change your cards after the tournament or round as opposed to mid-round...
I normally try to avoid foils as well, but in this case, since I just happen to own most of the cards as foils. I also haven't had problems with them in the past.

For a second I was hyped that Hidetsugu's Second Rite was a legacy-playable card! Memories of a original Tibalt-Hidetsugu joke deck. :)

Btw, I milled hornet queen with my grist once in vintage cube. It was glorious.

M1G1, you absolutely bottom the fetch not Once Upon A Time. The reason is twofold: your hand isn't bad but it's not great and Once Upon A Time lets you dig 5 deep to get a creature to strengthen your hand (in this specific instance the creature you'd want would be Elvish Visionary to go with your Symbiote to churn through your deck)....and two, you're playing Elves, one to two land in play is all you'll ever need.
Edit: M1G1: You bounce the Symbiote in response to the Bolt to keep your draw engine going.

I don't think you can bounce symbiote with its own effect, it says target elf and symbiote is an insect
