Hint I told him. No I just don't want to blow the motor, that is what my S2000 is for. He blew up in me and not sure of the translation. But super sure lots of profanities. He enlightened me with the following question. Honda makes F1 engines, but so does Ferrari. Which ones has won more races? (Ferrari) Then you know Ferrari are stronger better and faster then mere Honda. He basically explained on old Ferrari especially warm up is key, as the entire engine is made to rev high. In fact it damages the motor by not revving it as that is when the oil pumps is tuned to along with the valves. He explained the used Ferrari with the most problems are those with low miles. Anyway my motor hasn't blow up and I rev it all the time, like a Honda 20000
Here is what my mechanic said, when I told him that I keep the revvs low as I know its a "classic Ferrari 328". His response in with a thick Italian accent. Supposa Fur-ra-ee don't knowa how to make the motor rev.". Still not getting a
My 308 has had a hard life doing Hillclimbs, Sprints and circuit racing, probably 20 events a year, It is beautiful, loud and quite fast but as another commentator said quite heavy compared to a 911. In the pits it has more admirers than any other car even modern Ferrari models. The good thing is is it is a reliable car because it is used often and revved to the limit on a regular basis.
I had a smile on my face while watching this, that is such a cool idea of turning a 308 into a rally car. That first one had a screaming exhaust too, loved it!
A Ferrari never won Tour de Corse but came second in 1982. It was the private Ferrari team's only points finish of the season. 1983 another team fielded a 308.
As mentioned by others, the 308 GTB was a Group 4 rally car -- rare and relatively unknown compared to the Group B 288 GTO, but every bit as badass! However, neither was actually developed by Ferrari, they were turned into rally cars (with Ferrari's blessing) by Michelotto :-)
I've watched your videos for literally years now, and seeing you progress with camera types and continuously upgrading to the next best thing is wonderful. This is seriously cool! Fantastic quality as usual, and great angles.
Wow, the perspective shots in this were really good Bozzy. I didn't realize the 308 GTB was SO SMALL. It's curves and angles and the way it sits makes it seem huge, but people seem to tower above it. The high FPS shots are hard to get used to, even though I know they're superior, it kind of make the action look like a Mad Max movie. Great job :D
Not at all the sound I was expecting. It still sort of sounds like a usual V8 Ferrari but it’s different. There’s much more grunt in the way it sounds. I love it 🙌🏽
Bozzy your the man! you are one of the most consistent camera men to get the beauty us you tubers can only draw or dream about another well done video CHEERS.
Ahhh Magnum PI's ride from the 80s TV series! Man do I love that thing! Who can forget Magnum (Tom Seleck) giving it some stick and getting the tail out slightly during the intro of the show. Fun times ...
+Murmur1979 Grazie!
Do you film these yourself? If you do then you have some mad skills behind that camera/microphone! I need to get me one of those, keep making awesome videos!
The exhaust screams because it's a mid engine car and the headers and pipes and very short. Hence the engine note. Something Corvette just got woke over.
Ferrari, actually. The 288 GTO was a Group B homologation special, which became the F40. These though, they were made and raced by Privateers. The 288 never made it to the road before the death of Group B.
@@SlyBlu7 Didn't know that. That's freaking awesome to hear. It's a shame they didn't get the opportunity to race in WRC they may have given Lancia a run for their money.
I'm surprised at how much this sounds like a regular cross-plane V8 with 180-degree headers (a la GT40) as compared to a modern Ferrari V8 exhaust note. Lots more growl.
+akavich19 no I know it's a v8 i was just saying in general how most rally cars are 4 cylinders but even the best 4 bangers can't beat the v8 in this Ferrari. I see how it was unclear lol
Mr CapriFreak This is a wrong and improper generalisation 1)308 Gt was a street car descending from Dino206/246 Body and Dino 308 gt 4 v8 engine also street cars not exactly conceived for races 2) so they were rarely used in rallies in their times being Stratos, 131, 037 designated for such competitions 3) The expenses to run these Ferrari built 40 years ago are high, few would bring a rare and precious and refined vintage gt in these competitions
That is not a normal Ferrari 308 transverse transmission. What unit could it be, shifts are so fast. Sadev transverse transmission? They are electro hydraulic sequential, and that is how this sounds. Anyone?
Rwd, car was built by an independent company with ferrari's blessing to group 4 regulations. Fun fact for you, the 288gto was meant to be ferrari's group b rally car, until the class was cancelled.
Hey, can anyone give me a ballpark idea of the difference between these motors/exhausts vs. those of a stock 308? What makes them sound so different? What kind of horsepower are these rally 308s producing? Thank you.
man, I guess I really don't know much about rally. I guess Enzo hated Ferdinand enough to even make rally cars to further say "fuck you" to Porsche. (referencing how the F40 was a personal "fuck you" to Ferdinand Porsche's 959)
Ferraris are generally museum pieces, so I always love to see one driven hard.

What engine mods do you need to get them to run quick and loud? These seem tuned way more than stock
No wonder. It’s one of the prettiest cars ever made
I love these obscure rally cars! This V8 sounds brutal I love it!!!
I had a smile on my face while watching this, that is such a cool idea of turning a 308 into a rally car. That first one had a screaming exhaust too, loved it!
Andrew Mayer Do what now?! To Google!
308GTB used in rally by private teams in the beginning of 80s, some of them even won certain races (Tour de Corse mb.)
A Ferrari never won Tour de Corse but came second in 1982. It was the private Ferrari team's only points finish of the season. 1983 another team fielded a 308.

Andrew Mayer but that failed attempt left us with the legendary F40, which is nice.
Golden era of rallying was in the 80s when this car competed in Group B category! Fantastic to see this Ferrari model again. Thanks for posting.
La sequenza da 1:08 a 1:35 l'avrò già vista almeno 15 volte, mi fa impazzire come la raddrizza di gas e schizza via in accelerazione! E che sound!!!
I've watched your videos for literally years now, and seeing you progress with camera types and continuously upgrading to the next best thing is wonderful. This is seriously cool! Fantastic quality as usual, and great angles.

One of the coolest Ferraris out there.

I think it's one of the finest looking and sounding cars ever made.
partybiscuit Stratos is better in any aspect.

+William Morganti Thank you so much for the nice comment!
+19Bozzy92 Your welcome
You don't see many Ferrari rally cars because it's mostly middle aged men who keep them as garage queens and rarely actually drive them...
+FordCapri Driver Well, to rally them you need:
1.Money, not everyone has and can make them...
2.Balls, 1 out of 10,000 is born with them...
+Andrew Lewer Balls ? Balls of steel... I couldn't drive them without the fear of crash these beauties...
Well, I wouldn't race my Ferrari, if I had one. The stake is too big.
+FordCapri Driver Though that is true, many of these rally cars are made from previously crashed cars and are rebuilt as race cars.

Best sound I’ve ever heard on a car

Quite a sight to behold. And the sound is music.

Skillful work by Makela Auto who respects Michelotte.
This video has the fewest down votes i have ever seen. Rightfully so.
1:23 Goddamn!!
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Awesome job.
+Lucas Gusi Thank you!
beautiful exhaust sound at redline.
The sound of heaven on earth.
Incredibly cool as a rally car!
Never thought that there are Ferraris rallying ! Cool video ! :)
+شاديل اشانالي Thanks my friend!
+شاديل اشانالي It was from around 1978-1986 but not anymore.
So much yes to this video...great!
Nice camera. I'm envious :p
Awesome! As always :)
Awesome video. Sounds fantastic
I think it is at MONZA .The old track section with that inclined curve.
Badass car!

+FishRSA Yes, I do everything myself ;)
Thank you!
casso, sentito come ripassa le marce??
spettacolo!
Hey "Bozzy", pas mal, mais tu nous as habitué à mieux en terme de vidéo !
Quella bianca al Rallylegend é la 308 gtb di "Lucky" Battistolli! Adesso però gira quasi solo in Delta! Rivogliamo vedere questa!
Crazy!!!Rally Ferrari..Geeezzz!!
I had The toy model of firstone...It's Amazing!!
Nothing like a stout 4 banger.
This is a V8.....
Two birds with one stone. lol
man, listen the RPM uping in 1:25... insane sound of Italian V8s
Thats the main reason why i prefer internal combustion engines ❤
3:05 1:26
that thing sounds bad ass
do not see any rallye; over mud and dirt; what is that??? ^^
Great Footage...
Monza ???
The exhaust screams because it's a mid engine car and the headers and pipes and very short. Hence the engine note. Something Corvette just got woke over.
What madman decided to make a Ferrari into a rally car? Whoever it is give that person the Nobel prize.
Ferrari, actually. The 288 GTO was a Group B homologation special, which became the F40.

Bella machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
finnally a ferrari that sounds like a ferrari
Gotta love those F1 Cosworth v8s
I fucking love it it sounds beautiful
ive never heard a 3.0 litre sound like that yellow one...its gotta be more than just exhaust
Got to put that engine on dyno and fix the high rpm problem guys .
I'm surprised at how much this sounds like a regular cross-plane V8 with 180-degree headers (a la GT40) as compared to a modern Ferrari V8 exhaust note. Lots more growl.
+daedalus_suzuki Best 8cyl powered Ferrari sound ever
Cool
A Ferrari on the banking at the old Monza circuit - impossible to make a bad video of that!
Beautiful cars, but I am amazed that people rally with them. I wonder if they are suited for that.
You think they still use those gated shifters? Hey Bozzy you ever make a short video about yourself brother?
What make / model exhaust is that?
yea
nice
Finally, Ferraris being driven like they should, hard, fast, using all those ponies.
It sounds like a 355, and that's a good thing!
355 is one of the best sounding Ferrari ever, just beautiful
+flyingphoenix113 now we know where does the 355 sound come from.
It doesn't sound like a 355... My parents' friend owns a 1994 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta, and the 355 engine note is much higher pitched, and louder
Of course it won't be the same as the 355, it has a different cyl engine but the sound style it is similar, like the 348.
RodrigoTano1 they don't have different cyl engines... They both have V8s... The 355 has a 3.5lr V8 and the 308 has a 4.2lr V8
Wow i love the sound of 4 cylinder rally cars, probably the only really good sounding 4 cylinders but you can't touch a v8. That thing sounded great.
+CJSchecter96 The Ferraris in this are V8s, if you were implying they were 4-bangers.
+akavich19 no I know it's a v8 i was just saying in general how most rally cars are 4 cylinders but even the best 4 bangers can't beat the v8 in this Ferrari. I see how it was unclear lol
+CJSchecter96 Best Rally sound? You can't really just pick one... V6, I5 turbo, I4 Supercharged + Turbo, I4 Turbo, I4...
+Andrew Lewer I5 turbo imo is king

awsome
Carmakers take note- this is how sports cars should sound.
Leonardo Fioravanti..
Best car designer ever...
I like the Lancia Stratos
Too nice to miss even 1 sec of the vid.
How does it compete with the Porsche 911s of the same era?
Fiat Olio 308 sounds great, but ignition problems in high rev, shame
+O.D. You're right
+O.D. wow, how do you know? that's pretty cool
Justin Seara
It,s simple, you hear it ;-)
O.D. I can hear a bit of popping at higher RPM's. Bag ignition timing?
The one at Monza is my dad
Can I be your dad's friend ?
How does one make a 308 sound like the one at 1:25
That is not a normal Ferrari 308 transverse transmission. What unit could it be, shifts are so fast. Sadev transverse transmission? They are electro hydraulic sequential, and that is how this sounds. Anyone?
Flat plane V8s sound like a busy 4 cylinder to me, much prefer the sound of a cross plane V8
Is this car 4x4 AWD? or stock RWD
Rwd, car was built by an independent company with ferrari's blessing to group 4 regulations. Fun fact for you, the 288gto was meant to be ferrari's group b rally car, until the class was cancelled.
The Company was called Michalotte btw.
*michelotte*
In America this car has nearly tripled in prices. Which means we won't be seeing something like this ever probably. . .
can't wait for inheritance to put that stuff on one
this car is like "bruuh im really boring with this stuff...." you can see it from his pop up light.....
Imagine a wrc powerd bus or truck
I do not mean Dakar either
8liter truck engine 800bhp racing in wrc
Según com parece un Mangusta . De Tomaso
Why Lancia tried to copy/paste this car?
The stratos was made before this car

Who are the twats that down voted this video? It's amazing!

I think they are straight piped or atleast almost. A normal 308 has around 230hp and these have around 360hp
yellow one is misfiring severely.
This was meant to be in group b, but they were too late
They did run in Group B. They were rehomologated from Gr. IV to Gr. B in 1983.
0:50 !!!!!
Some day someone's going to rally a California. Ferrari made too many of them. Thanks.
Wow, a Ferrari in Rally.... Is this new or am I just outdated?
It's not really common nowadays, but back in the time it was
+Jason No comment...

+Jason OK then.......lol
Doesn't sound Ferrari. Still super badass

I doubt this would touch a 911 of similar vintage, but that's not the point, i guess coz it's awesome
It's was a good rally car considering it didn't do that many rally's.
