ahah i can only speak for myself and my friends. we've all become boring and lazy. instead of going to parties, we go to the spa. some of us still smoke and enjoy a pint or two. we were all smart enough back then to recognize his romanticization of heroin use as nonsense

Doherty had substance misuse issues and the media celebrated him for it in the mid - late noughties. The Libertines were the last really original guitar band that the UK produced. Plus the viral live gigs in their flat - game changer ‘can’t stand me now’ great track

Hey Pete! It’s extremely unlikely you don’t remember me, but I was at one of the Libertines gigs at HMV in September 2015.
I was on a trip back from Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand and had been experiencing a similar scenario to you whilst living there!
I went back and tbh after countless attempts to rid myself of the lure of the poppy, I didn’t get fully clean until mid last year.
I’ve lost track of the amount of times I went through that ordeal of coming off. I also wrecked my health for years with an onslaught of substances.
Anyway, when I finally got clean, I opened a calisthenics and fitness UA-cam channel.
My health is back in really good condition and its made me feel physically and psychologically 10000% better.
Also I’ve lost all cravings I ever had for that old unhealthy lifestyle!
I’ll be seeing The Libertines play at Brighton and hope to catch up with you all there!
Whether or not physical fitness would ever be your thing, I have no idea?
But like you I also write poetry and have always been fascinated with literature, philosophy, psychology and also Eastern philosophical insights such as Taoism and Zen.

You don't quit addiction. As an addict, an addict is an addict. Addiction will always be replaced for better or for worse, the only other out is medication being the replacement. Addiction is a personality formed in your early years or from trauma, it's not a tangible thing to conquer.

@@upon-fe2720 Whilst I mostly agree with you, addiction isn't only something people with trauma are prone to, although it is very common. Some people just love the feeling substances give them and can't stop. Same way a lot of people get hooked on hobbies, there isn't always a deeper reason beyond just getting pleasure from whatever it is. It's just that some people channel it into healthy avenues and some don't

Wow..I haven't seen Pete Doherty for years and I wouldn't of guessed it was him he really has put on a lot of weight because he was skinny as hell and could of probably dodged the rain .And I remember chilling with him in a bar and him coming over to me because we we're playing pool and quietly said could I score him some heroin & crack?? Errr no I told him and he left in the car with his chauffeur and friend and never come back and must of been going through withdrawals..
