Tough example, comparing a production machine with limited flexibility against a genre machine that has so much scope. Axe head? not with the induction coil, gate scrolls? not with an induction coil, shackles, horse shoe's, hinges, ring-pulls all need broad side heating and time for the smith to compose their next hits. I worked in a large modern forge, we used mostly induction heating, it was fast and only for round barstock, bolts nuts. Anything over 5" diameter was still prep'd in either the gas or oil furnaces. So a crankshaft blank at 8" diameter was gas heated before entering the 3 cavity 6 ton steam hammer. That Flame Fast Ceramic is awesome for flexibility both across multiple job sites and multiple job applications without the locals complaining about the smell. Unfortunately I'd recon the economics wont work, jobbing businesses and hobbyists cant afford the unit price.

Hi Mrbgrer thankyou .that's why i put this out there to get your views and help us all..i feel the same they are a lot of money for the small guys and they are trying to get the cost down. I have a slower heat induction machine i use that heats big bar and large flats great .i also still use oil furnaces and gas and coal but only when i really need a stock of bar heated in once .when we forge axles i heat five bars of 50mm stock 200mm long in one go with induction but the electric is high but the time to heat is fast .they are talking about phasing out gas over time too. Wish i lived in a sunny place as i am sure the next thing will be magnifying the sun .All we can keep doing is working the cleanest way we can .When i get time i will do some more work on this unit for you all to see .
