    That’s a great solution for multiple small parts, Nigel. Perhaps adding a solid refractory cylinder inside and a base that vibrates the parts around could solve the even heating issue!

    What would you recommend to be the max sizes to forge on the 15 and 25?

    • @NigelBarnettArtistBlacksmith
      @NigelBarnettArtistBlacksmith Місяць тому

      hi 16mmon 15 kw and 20mm on 25kw but will do more depending on how long the heat is .

    • @MafkACE
      @MafkACE Місяць тому

      Thanks for the quick reply. Can you elaborate? I’ve seen the producers max it out on 35mm and 48mm round, but user feedback always seems better. Edit, I am talking about the power hammers, to be clear. 😅

      @NigelBarnettArtistBlacksmith Місяць тому

      induction heaters .power hammers 15kg i forge 25-30mm 25 kg up to 50mm but metal would need to have a good heat .main thing with a 25kg is the dies are bigger so you have more choice of dies .i will film them all working for you .

    Very cool! :) Pyrox glass contains boron so it stands up to heat and rapid temperatures changes, even quite shocking ones. But that said, it is really a fascenating demonstration of how this glass is such a good product...

      with the water base crack detection die you should leave for 10 mins to soak in as the one i used is solvent based and works quicker .

    it would be cool if you did a video about how you went from being a welder to your own blacksmith because it seems like quite a hard business to get into in this day and age.

    • @NigelBarnettArtistBlacksmith
      @NigelBarnettArtistBlacksmith 2 місяці тому

      hi Paul i will think about that but it might be a bit long .as i say to all my students follow your heart but find a job like welding to earn money .once you are good enough forging and have developed your own style then go for a switch over but keep your second trade as a back up money earner .if we all help others others will help us but dont do work for free.

    Good morning / evening. I really like the look of that small power hammer! Just recently been upgrading my setup for knifemaking, and a power hammer would be massively useful, but I didn't think that I'd be able to get one that would be fairly compact, yet still be powerful enough for my requirements, but there is no doubt that the 15kg one would be ideal! Thanks for the vid, very useful and informative!

    Mate, what you are doing is awesome and innovative. I have a very small unit with parts from ebay. Would love something like what you do but about half the size. The only hard part is the shipping to Australia. As a matter of interest what would it cost for plans and drawings so I could make my own (well me son can make it for me) Cant wait for Pyrex glass tube composition, I'm sick of shorting mine out and blowing stuff up. Keep up the vids they are great.

    Wow! This is so fast, 17 seconds to silver solder and so convenient compared to the minutes of time needed with a gas torch or longer if having to heat a forge up to temperature. In addition to silver soldering & brazing presumably one could also use this to do enamels. Will be interesting to see how it works for rivet heating. Thank you for sharing!
