Ever since “Using Again” I’m listening to LDSB music with more than my ears. Thank you Ashley for understanding and patching Ben up when he’s been in a dark place. Much respect.
Under rated comment. As a man who has lived in some really dark places, Ashley is the MVP here. Ben might be the one writing songs, but Ben (probably) wouldn't even be alive today without her. We NEED our partners. Half the time or more, the only difference between being "the local ellectic" and being "mentally ill" is a good partner. Humans need each other - we are a romantically dimorphic species for a reason.
They are beautiful together!! Same using again I cried I was homeless when I heard it middle of my addiction and lowest... Love the Lost Dog Street Band. Big fan (Jenn256 Alabama)
Perhaps he's happily up in heaven listening, tapping his feet and drunk. Completely shit faced drunk. Lord knows if there's a heaven then that's what l hope we all get to do up there or the place would end up being remarkably similar to hell anyway.
As a busker and performer who performs this and plays both fiddle and guitar...this is PHENOMENAL! ❤❤ THANK YOU! Great use of double stops and detaché!
I've been having the hardest time with life lately .this music is getting me through . I am very lost but finding pieces of me along the way . thank you for the amazing music
The greatest cover of the greatest song and people are just walking by in the background like nothing is happening. Crazy. You guys are amazing, hope to hear more TVZ from you
This needs to be done in a studio absolutely perfect. I just wanna download it with clear sound. Probably listened to it a million times within a few weeks.
these folks are AWESOME. I love the way that dude sings and pronounces things. the girl is cute as a button and shreds that fiddle. great great band. love the old timey style clothes too
May Townes Van Zandt live forever, I pray each generation keeps covering his work. His songs can touch you down in your soul which is a rarity nowadays. Even better that it’s played by lost dog street band. One of the few strong souls carrying on the tradition/history of tramps, a far too often forgotten sub culture of America. Often forgotten but still responsible for most of music pop culture. Without “tramps” blues wouldn’t have spread, and rock n roll would have happened. Without that blues rock would have never dominated the 70’s.
So much of our musical culture today is dependent on music passed down from that culture of travelling musicians. Without them there would be no blues, no rock n roll, no classic rock, no pop music. Good wishes to those that still carry on this tradition.
I would do anything to have seen them on the streets. I'm very thankful I get to see them live, and see them live 3 times in the past year but to have seen them like this would be amazing to me!
Around two years ago UA-cam suggested this video to me. I was strung out sitting in my truck debating my future. Now two years later I've listened to every single lost dog street band/Benjamin Todd song I can find learned to play a few seen him live twice repaired my marriage and it's all because of a UA-cam suggested video.
Strange to see, these two sing and play , ( I just got back from Denver) and the people just walk on by. The people have a chance to see one of the best current folk bands for free and its like they just dont understand what they are hearing and seeing so they move in a mindless drone walk. Nice song, well done. (
You're right about everything else but they aren't a Folk group at all, they're real Country infused with Bluegrass. Artists like this are few and far between today and you have to dig for them as the mainstream music overshadows everything and is forced upon the public using a manipulative mass marketing saturation scheme. Every genre today is spewing out meaningless garbage as they don't show any respect for what gave the genres their meaning and definition in the first place. For instance in comparison to this Country we hear by this group today's crap isn't even Country we have a bunch of yahoos singing about everything but the grass roots culture of fans of the Country genre.
Only commenting here to reach the years of ben. I'm a musician currently living behind my dad's bowling alleyroller skating rink. So I have this amazing access to acoustically amazing set ups. And I live in a camper outback. lol Struggling with... a lot really. We once met outside of a show in Detroit. I coaxed you over with a jibber and you asked me if we'd ever met before. Either way.. words can never convey my gratitude for your music. ....,But Thanks.
no way. this has been my favorite Townes Van Zandt song since I saw the video from Heartworn Highways... You guys have been my favorite since I saw your video for "I Went Down to Georgia," "Coming Down," and "Fall From Grace." Impeccable cover, you guys killed it.
I lived on Broadway, a few blocks north at the time, and caught the end of this set while passing by. I wasn't aware of Lost Dog or Benjamin Tod at the time but had to stop. Sadly, like a lot of the artists I've stopped to pay attention to in my lifetime, I forgot about this set on Pearl St. I eventually found his music a few years later but still hadn't put all my memories together. Then, this came up in the queue, and it hit me. I was there! Thanks for uploading this!
This is the third time I've stumbled on this street cover... it gets better with each listen. Very simple but compelling arrangement, very authentic sound... I love it. Now headed to look up more from Lost Dogs.
Such an amazing duo. Ben's voice communicates that emotion so raw and Ashley destroys that fiddle every time!!! Let's not forget the five instruments plus Ben's voice these two incorporate . .. so sad I wasn't on Pearl.street that day
Goddamn i love this version !!! I’m a diehard Townes Van Zandt addict, which means i’ve listened to him every day probably for the last 11 years, which is when i re-discovered him. i guarantee you, if he was standing there watching… he would’ve smiled. 😊 i was.... ear-2-ear.
There really aren’t any words to describe the talent y’all have and the emotions you share through your music. It’s 2017 now, the age of vast technological and societal advancements yet y’all seem to make it disappear and bring people back to a simpler time of love and loss and being one with nature. Just living. Thank you. I’d love to see y’all play somewhere in the state of Maine!
Ive been listening to they're music for only 2 days but its been in ny head nonstop for the last 48 hours. I had to make a playlist as soon as i found them because i literally can't find a song i DONT want to hear later, its insane
As a huge fan of TVZ and a new but big fan of the Lost Dog Street Band, I must say this is a striking rendition. Looking forward to hearing more from you guys in the future.
I hope they really help lost dogs on the street....I can get my pupper Phaedra to howl to songs if I sing them too. Wish my Dad could have met her and wish I could have showed him this band... I took care of him until he passed on into another Realm from cancer but was truly an extraordinary human being. Really brings me nostalgia and comfort. Thank you for being willing to share your talents and pieces of your soul... My Father's guitar got stolen, along with mine he bought for me when I was young, and that meant the world to me. I haven't been doing so swell, but maybe one day can afford one when I'm not so down-n-out... 🙄🙃🥺
This guy grew up loving Townes though I heard his other songs fist and seeing this cover I couldn’t think of a better cover song for this guy like this Townes song pretty much sums up this whole guys songwriting style hey I fucking love it had uncles who I listened Townes as a kid with they died early this guy I hope just enjoys the beauty of sorrow like many others and won’t go away to early.
Ben I don't know if you read these, but you've inspired me to play guitar and write. Your lyrics do something for me, unlike anything money can buy. I watch this vid very often, and it never gets old.
Yeah Pearl Street Mall Damn I miss that place! I grew up in Longmont. Love these guys. I wonder if they have ever played up in Estes Park. Would love to see them.
amazing cover! saw them live in August great show at our local pub. Lost dog lyrics and music are real and beautiful. Different sound but Cranford Nix has become another favorite this year. MUSIC SUGGESTIONS please
chris marrington yeah I saw dayz n daze at a leftover crack show. KNOW they're music pretty well. Looking for somethin else tho. Less Johnny hobo. Any other suggestions?
How can anyone watch their performance live and just walk in by?! I wish I could have ran into them when they were busking. But still the question remains, how could anyone pass them up and not know that they were listening to greatness?!
im a server, i get to play my own playlist for the restaurant and last night a table asked me, while playing this, who it was and complimented me when i said i am the one playing it. they left me an extra $25 on top of the $20 they already left me because of the music
I missed Sierra Ferrell when she came to Alabama last... I had just had oral surgery. I wish I would've went now. It would be so great to see yall from GemsonVHS do a thing here!!! I love the sound, and the lyrics are heavy. Matt heckler also a new favorite. I love y'all and so glad I found this channel

I can’t even imagine walking down the street and hearing this. I’d drop everything and run to find these guys!

This is so awesome. Van Zandt will live forever whether he likes it or not
He definitely doesn't like it.
Perhaps he's happily up in heaven listening, tapping his feet and drunk. Completely shit faced drunk. Lord knows if there's a heaven then that's what l hope we all get to do up there or the place would end up being remarkably similar to hell anyway.
Great comment, made me laugh out loud.
This is most the most hipster comment i've ever read and I love it.

This is by far my favorite version of this song - with all due respect to Townes......
I cannot fathom just walking by this beautiful work of art.

These two are crazy good! Flippo on all those instruments, and mae plays the shit out of that violin!! Always amazing to watch
Only discovered this yesterday, and I think i've listened to it about 3,612 times already. Fantastic cover.... really nice!
The greatest cover of the greatest song and people are just walking by in the background like nothing is happening. Crazy. You guys are amazing, hope to hear more TVZ from you
Amazing cover. Does Townes a good deed. Not to mention Ben you're playing 4 instruments, fucking amazing. Lost Dog always puts out great stuff.
Lost Doggy shaky graves plays multiple instruments as well. He's pretty fkn good too

@@syliss133, Ben and Graves Duo. The band that will break the internet, shatter the greats and seed the future consciousness of the world.

I like shaky graves as much as the next, but I feel Lost Dog Street Band is just in a whole other league musically
This needs to be done in a studio absolutely perfect. I just wanna download it with clear sound. Probably listened to it a million times within a few weeks.

It can't be any better
The emotion in this version is so palpable. I think it’s my favorite so far.

Truthfully, that makes me appreciate it that much more...
NPCs do NPC things
The woman eating the sno-cone on the wall next to them gets it.
Have no idea what they were a witness to. Better and more talented than any pop bullshit on the radio. I was thinking the same thing.
