Jumbo is such a cute hamster and I hope you find the home with your help munchie and I appreciate what you're doing on UA-cam and educating people about the small animal friends that we have
Omg I love how you mention food in this video. My vet is adamant that hamsters should ONLY eat those lab blocks and that they're herbivores so they can't eat animal protein. It pisses me off, but I've stopped arguing with her. I give my hamsters a seed mix with a couple lab blocks to nibble on, and they love mealworms.

I love your videos and just jump happily when I see a new one but I do understand time pressures. I just wanted you to know how much your videos are appreciated. I have a 1 year old Djungarian hamster that is larger than the other dwarfs I see. She is easily hand held and also has a longer thinner face. I do live in Canada. There was a huge Russian in the adoption centre area of my local pets store. He was a reddish brown colour which I'd never seen before and not much smaller than a Syrian. Definitely a Russian though. When I got him I gave him a bin cage and then checked him over and found a lump on his tummy and his front foot was raw. The cage was nasty so I believe the sore was from his urine. After he settled down and let me handle him I figured out that the lump was a nasty infection resulting from a cut from his broke wheel he had. So I’ve been shopping around on amazon for supplies for a Hammy. I haven’t gotten one yet, but I wanna get as many things ready so the bin cage will be set up. But as I was shopping I found this crazy thing called the Bio Bubble activity pod. The thing has it’s flaws but it’s a unique concept (not enough for me to actually buy it.) but what did make me shake my head if the bio bubble enclosure it looks pretty small. So I figure you might wanna do a bad cage review for it.
Munchie, let me say thank you for this video. I am currently on FB trying to teach some one in the UK that these Tiny Tales habitats (or any others) are NOT good. He keeps on telling me how right he is so I linked your video to him. He has a Syrian in these things! I am shocked and upset.
You can use the plastic hamster balls as hanging hides for mice/rats (depending on the size). I ave a few that came with a couple rescue mice and both my rats and mice like to sleep in them :)
I use to use the hamster balls as hides in enclosures till one of my hamsters got it's finger trapped in it and made them bleed because they were climbing it. So I haven't used them as hides since. This is only for the Hamsters however as I haven't used them for move hides.
@@MunchiesPlace oh okay, the ones I have have pretty big, round holes so I'm certain they can't get anything stuck in them. I forgot most hamster balls have the thin slits which I definitetly can see as a hazard. 🤦♂️
I love hamsters sooo much their my favourite animals but it disgusts me that people literally don’t have a clue how to look after them but I will admit I have made my mistakes in the past and I’m still making mistakes along the way but at least I correct them I love your channel so much xxxx
Thank you for uploading! I'm sorry that the UA-cam community hasn't been as welcoming and nice as you deserve. You could always disable the comments section as a preventive measure, the majority of us would understand. I look forward to your next video!
I feel like you should put their original hide (if clean enough) in their new cage so they have their scent there and they get used to the new cage better
The other day I was looking into pet adds on this local buying and selling page much like craigslist and ran upon this pet add selling a "mini hamster". From the pictures I saw she lived in HORRIBLE CONDITIONS and instantly felt the need to do something. For a week I kept going back to this add because I couldn't get the poor hammy out of my mind. Shr was a winter white about year old and lived in a tiny litter cage with too small of a wheel, no chew toys, ate birdseeds and they used this brightly colored bedding that feelt like cardboard basically. I don't know where they even got these supplies because we don't sell them in pets stores where I live. They had to go out pf their way to order these supplies online to torture the poor hammy. They only had her for couple months and were selling her supposedly because they didn't have time for her. I think it might have been because she's a biter. But that's only fair causr they didn't seem to be putting any effort in her. Her name is Siiri! She has the spunkiest personality I've seen a hamster have, ever! She looks me in the eye and seems to be very aware of her surroundings, very active. My plan going into this rescue mission was to foster her just so I can get her out of the situation. I paid quite a bit for her and the horrible cage with little food. To me this doesn't matter. As long as I had her out of there in my care where she is appreciated.
Dwarf hamsters and Syrian ones are not only from a different species but from a different genus, dwarf are on the genus phodopus and Syrian are on the genus mesocricetus
Munchie i have a question, I own two gerbils with a 20 gal tank, so you think I should use tubes to lead to another cage because I feel like a lot of people don't think tubes are sutible but do you think I can\should?
A week and a half ago I rescued 2 dwarfs. One male Russian and one female Robo in a single crittertrail together. I saw the add on Craigslist and picked them up a couple hours later. You wouldn’t even believe how bad it was... they had zero water, no wheel, and literally SANDPAPER for bedding. It’s not bad enough two species of hamsters were together in a tiny space with nothing to do. Currently I’ve just had them both in separate 10 gallons for the week, as I had to buy another enclosure to put them in. They’re both already looking better and within the next couple of days they will be getting approximately 800 square inches, like my other dwarfs have. Dunno what I’m doing with them yet, I have a ton of animals so I wasn’t planning on keeping them but I don’t know anybody around my area that would be able to care for them like I will and they deserve the best, coming from such horrible neglect. Probably will stay with me, I’m not complaining tho! Anyways, thank you for inspiring me to save lives!!
Bean after hearing the teenage guy off Craigslist tell me “they don’t have bedding anymore because my mom threw it out” I was genuinely concerned the hamsters were gonna end up in a trash can too, not that their setup was even much better🙄 thank you, I’m pretty pleased with myself for this rescue mission! My mom and two friends came, we made a night out of it and it was well worth it
My local shelter unfortunately has a large amount of hamsters that need homes. I want to adopt some hamsters but I currently own 5 rats and their cage takes up a lot of space in my room and it would be cruel to keep them all in a small cramped room. I am moving to a bigger house soon though and hopefully I’ll have enough room for a few bin cages so I can adopt some hammies.
He looks like my Russian dwarfhamster/winter white. Mine is female and is pretty big as well and 1 year old. She just got babies. The babies are 1 week old. She takes great care of them. She is bigger them the male hamster but he is a bit younger.
munchie you are amazing i am thiking about gettin a hamster so i was doing some research and i found your channel and found out sooooo many things i didnt know :)
Hi Miss Munchie. I just adopted a male Syrian (Wolfgang Amadeus)from craigslist this past Sunday. He came from an unexpected litter where the male and female were being housed together. The owner at the time wasn't sure about their genders. He's from a litter of 6 and very tame. The only thing is that all he wants to do is run on his wheel. I thinking he may have been in a small cage with little stimulation. I now have a 50 gallon bin for him with lots to do. Should I remove his wheel for a short while so his attention will be towards the rest of his surroundings? Thanks so much. H
I have a question. Could you possibly do a cage review of the "kaytee my first home habitat multi-level for exotics"? I had that cage myself for my hamster (she passed away a month ago) and she seemed to like it, but I still worry it wasn't enough for her.
Hey Munchie love the vid! If you go shopping for hamster supplies maybe you could record it and bring us along? I love your old hauls. And does anyone else agree?
My first hamster was a purebred djungarian and I wish the breeder still bred them because he was oh so special. He was absolutely tiny, and looked SO MUCH DIFFERENT than alleged winter whites, campbells, or russians you see on UA-cam. (And no he wasn't a robo!) He had such a big head and big furry feet for a tiny little body. I wish there was a way to attach a picture. The purebred djungarians look SO MUCH DIFFERENT physically than the alleged "purebred" djungarians you see in the United States pet shops. He was a little pearl that phased to solid white by his first winter.
Hi can you please help me I don’t know what else to feed my hamster besides seed mix and when I heard you said if that’s all you feed it it’ll cause diabetes,so what else can I give him
I heard you talk about main cages and a minimum of 560 sq in, which I have already been aware of, but I would like to know what the min of a main cage should be. I'm wondering because I was planning to get two if the same bin cages stacked, and some are fine by themselves, but the much, much more common in my area is 360, which will only be okay when there is two. Just asking to make sure I know the most about hamsters before I get one!
All pet store russians are hybrids, regardless of whether they’re sold as Campbells or Winter White/Djungarian. The two species were originally hybridised to create new patterns and colours such as Sunfire. Also unless they are in their winter coat, pure white WWs don’t exist and even most WWs in their winter coat will still have patches of grey
I saw the critter trail cage and I was already annoyed the work u do for these hamsters is amazing munchie thank you

That's a cage were you can put the hamster temporary if you clean the good cage.
Yesss! A new video
Omg that poor hammie in that critter trail
Thank you for uploading! I'm sorry that the UA-cam community hasn't been as welcoming and nice as you deserve. You could always disable the comments section as a preventive measure, the majority of us would understand. I look forward to your next video!
My old dwarf was named Steve... there can only be one Steve up in this B.
I feel like you should put their original hide (if clean enough) in their new cage so they have their scent there and they get used to the new cage better
I have the same cage but there's only one platform and it's not connect to an other cage it's connected to a look out so should i buy a bigger cage
I love him he looks exactly like my hamster chubs that passed away a couple months ago ♥️
Munchie i have a question, I own two gerbils with a 20 gal tank, so you think I should use tubes to lead to another cage because I feel like a lot of people don't think tubes are sutible but do you think I can\should?
It’s so amazing what you do for these lil guys!! (And the not so little ones 😝) I’m saving up to get a hamster and your videos are super helpful!!
How do you get into rescuing and fostering small animals? I would love to start doing this when I get time and space.
I love your videos so much you should definitely make more because your definitely my favorite youtuber
Hey munchie where do you get your carriers?
LOVE YOU MUNCHIE
I love him ❤️he's so cute. I wish I could adopt him but I live in MA.
The absolute minimum in US standards for a main cage is 450sq in but you should always try to go bigger
And broken floorspace (ie stacked bins, tubes etc) does not count for that. It needs to be at least 450 on one level
Thank you, this is *_extremely_* helpful because now I'm all set to get a hamster! Thank you again for all your help!
I feed my hamster a mix of the sunburst seed mix and a higher protein pellet. Is that good?
I wish I lived near you so I could adopt....
How do you take care of all the hamsters? I have trouble with only one xD Kudos to you though!
Ahhh so excited!!!! I love your videos so much!!
The odour stuff is mostly sugar water. 😓 My mom uses dextrose to bring her sugar up when she’s having a low.
