- Gena Rowlands has died. The four-time Emmy Award-winning actress is best known for her role as Allie in ‘The Notebook.’ Her career spanning seven decades also includes roles in films such as ‘A Woman Under the Influence,’ ‘Another Woman’ and ‘Gloria.’ She was 94.
We just watched The Notebook two nights ago. My mom has dementia and thought it was an amazing movie. Rest easy Ms. Rowlands.
I too watched this movie a few days ago because Gena was in it. Hope your mother stays comfortable.
She was just wonderful in every role she took on. Unpretentious Hollywood royalty.

My mother died of the same thing. She will suffer no more. It is a terrible disease especially for their loved ones. She will now rest in peace and be remembered for her beauty and acting.

Nooooooooo !!! She was a great actress. She made me cry in this 1980 film called Gloria. Very powerful performance and the film is just great, intense and moving. She deserved an oscar for her great performance ! She was badass in it really ! We lost a great one today. Rest peacefully acting genius. She is legendary truly.

Rip to a genuine legend. She was nominated for a bunch of awards for performances in her career, including a couple oscar nominations and several Emmy nominations. She was nominated for an Emmy for one of my favorite tv shows, monk.
Gloria, I caught it on cable skipping school 10 years old in 81... one of my top 10 movies in my life! The remake was an insult! Rest well, beautiful.

What a life and career Gena Rowlands had. She was brilliant in everything, one couldn’t take your eyes off her when she was on the screen. The work with John Cassavetes was groundbreaking, intense, unforgettable. Ms. Rowlands was beautiful , yes, but beyond her physical beauty was a light, an intelligence in what she brought to each character played. She gave us the gift of her lifetime of art.
Gena Rowlands was one of the greatest leading character actresses of all time, right up there with Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, and Meryl Streep. Gena had a capacity to inhabit her characters right down to the marrow. She was magical on the screen. Obviously, that took a lot of debilitatingly hard work on her part to achieve. Let us all celebrate what she was able to achieve. May her memory be a blessing always.

Oh gosh that hurts my heart...she was an amazing actress...loved her in the 70's through the 90's and learned how Hope Floats to the new millennia when she and Mr. Garner taught us the importance of taking good notes was by ripping our hearts out. To her family...my most sincere and profound condolences.

Gena Rowlands was one of my all-time favorites. She and her husband John Cassasvetes made enormous contributions to the film industry. I'm glad that their children learned so much from them and can carry on.
I had the pleasure of meeting Gena Rowlands when I worked in Hollywood as an actor/ screenwriter and she was a joy to behold. We were both shopping in Mrs, Gooches health food store in Studio City and had a lovely talk. She was sweet, genuine and with this wonderful way of including you in her life. Also, an enormous talent. Hollywood could take a lesson.

She was a classy yet tough lady, and I've seen many of her films. She did often play a mom, and represented women both traditional and modern. There was a depth to her that I admired, and I believe she carried in real life. Ironically, she was one of those actresses that never got the acclaim she deserved, yet will be remembered after the other more famous but less talented are forgotten. 💜 Rest well Ms. Rowlands. 🇨🇦

The first time I saw Gena Rowlands was in the movie _GLORIA_ . I was 9 years old at the time, but I still remember being excited about her characters' abilities to know how to survive in an environment that had been long ago taken over by insolence. I will miss her, that's for damn sure.
