This game oozes with personality. This was definitely my favorite of the Warcraft series.
I get tons of nostalgia just hearing the wood chopping sounds lol.
@@eggoslayer1001 Me too. My favorite sound though is the Bloodlust sound.
Because it was still extremely like warhammer… (it’s inspiration)
With Warcraft 3 it started going into a different direction. One I enjoy but definitely different
25 years later and this game has still aged well.
The first one not so much lol
Blizzard in their prime.
Hey i downloaded for smartphone with ps1 emulator
With snes or ps1 u get awesome games on smartphone
meeeeh warcraft 3 has aged better still
I like how in the brief for one of these quests, it says that Gul'dan is ready to unleash his Death Knights, yet this guy created an army of _Ogre-Mages_ instead.
Warcraft 2 has no business aging this well. It still looks and plays smooth as butter.
Man this brought back some great memories. My dad was always a prettt serious, stern type, but seeing me play this got him into the game. As silly as it sounds, it brought us closer together through a shared love of the game.
Some of the earliest memories when I was a child was me and my dad playing warcraft 2. This and the first Command and conquer. I was too young to understand the strategy of which units to build but I think I did fairly well.
it was the other way around for me. My dad was plying this game and i loved watching it
I understand exactly what you're saying. My dad is precisely the same style
Nice memory :)
I have fond memories of watching my father play warcraft 2 campaigns and struggle, then I played them too and my father sometimes watched me play. I think I only got to like 7-8 missions in both campaigns and on expansions I only got to second mission on both human and orc, this game was so hard to me as a kid. My father finished the game and I got to play the final missions a lot, didn't get far :P. I really liked the very final orc mission in the expansion where you start with the army and are against like 4 or 5 factions, never managed to beat it as a kid and I remember my father struggling with it for days and then barely managing to win haha.

Before the dark times, before Activision
Next year available on mobile phones :D

Are you serious?!id love that!itll be available along with battlenet?or just a campaign?

Are YOU serious? xD
Before the dark times, before World of warcraft. Anyone else noticed that they just didn't pay any attention to Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft RTS for half a decade after they started milking the WoW cash cow?
The musics in this game are pure love. Graphics are kinda good for so old game
The music is terrible, sounds like Wolfenstein 3D.
These early games of Blizzard's (warcraft 2, Diablo 2, and Starcraft 1) Blizzard really knew what to do with the limited resources to make it look as good as possible. It's great.
*for a so old game.
IDK how old you are but at the time when it was released it was the coolest game ever!
Well I actually have this game and there's a setting in the settings menu where you can speed up the game (I know its weird but its a old game.) anyway it looks like he did that. No hate are anything.
7:22 This is exactly the first thing I ever did when I played this game for the first time the only difference it was in the first level. warcraft2 was the first RTS game I played in my life, and i had no clue what to do in the game and I did'nt understood the concept of a strategy game back then. I was like 9-10 years old, and I did'nt undertand english. It took me some time to understand the idea behind the game, and it was all by trial and error. I learned a lot of stuff in that time...I was also very proud of myself because I figured it all alone.
same for me :D
This game is so stunning when it comes to visual composition, whether it be tone, color or material.
Very true. The graphics still hold up great even today, because of it.
Pragmatic Tornado yeah the bright vibrant colors were iconic and persisted in Warcraft 3 and even early WoW which is why so many people dislike the bland dull "remastered" graphics of Warcraft 3 reforged and just use the old classic graphics lol, this art design is amazing
Blizzard artists have always been so talented, they pretty much pioneered the stylized art :P
Good old times when the Warcraft lore wasn't completely messed up.
god i'd love a warcraft 4 that completely ignores everything that happened in WoW
@@ipraytovodka yes, please
could you tell me what you mean by that more precisely ?
@@johndash9711 some people say that after warcraft 3 (so in world of warcraft, and it's expansions, like shadowlands in specific) the lore just became shit, a shitty joke, even
@@temst2561 God I wish Blizzard would just retcon all of Shadowlands.
This game is a trip down memory lane. This, diablo 2 and starcraft were the first PC games I played when I was 10 when I was lucky enough to play on my uncle's computer. Thanks for uploading!
WC2 was my first computer game ever, and I used to play SC online over an ISDN modem with a time-dependant bill from the phone company. My dad wasn't to happy.
Starcraft Broodwar. The best game ever created.
My uncle worked for nintendo
look for war2combat, it is a "free" up to date version of WC2 based on WC2 BNE, you can play both the Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal campaigns
And Age of Empires.
The best Warcraft game ever.
3rd best
@AoE II HD GAME fuck you
I played all three Warcrafts and I would have to argue that 3 was the best, though it was missing ships. Don't get me wrong, 1 and 2 are awesome.
@@dkkanofkash8798 it's the soundtrack that takes me back and the ships were pretty cool.
@Hunter Coleman it's always hit home.
I can't believe it, I remember when I was a kid a single middle mission took me hours or even days like the one you have to kill Gul'dan, and you did it in just minutes, my respects, just a great video!!

I remember playing this with my friend growing up. I asked my parents for it, and my grandma ended up buying me Warcraft 1: Orcs and Humans instead for Christmas. I graciously accepted it and played the shit out of that game, but man was this game a lot better and more fun. Good memories.
Wow! The Goblin Sappers are like a beta Kerrigan voicewise and they explode just like the Infested Terran. It's cool to see how some things inspired others
Man, I wish the RTS genre never faded into oblivion, but remained popular.
It seems that im the only one who still play war3 in 2021
@@dendiepie1547 Yeah, pretty much. We're still waiting on an official ladder nearly a year after reforged's delayed release. :\ RIP genre.
RTS didn’t fade into oblivion, but Blizzard has fallen.
Yeah I have to agree. I can't think of a single decent or remotely memorable RTS title released after command and conquer 3. C&C / RA franchise has been killed and the corpse defiled by EA. Warcraft has been made 'refunded' by blizzard, and they already openly stated that they won't make StarCraft 3 since they can't milk as much money with the RTS genre as they can with overwatch and whatnot. Which may not be a bad thing to be honest as Blizzard has completely lost all creative and entertainment edge they once had, so SC3 would be potentially the death of the franchise.
@atombrain111 Maybe. But I haven't seen anything original from Blizzard since Starcraft 2. Maybe that's what you mean - in that anything like original WC3 or SC2 that people still play, enjoy and can create content in through custom maps since release and to date, isn't a continuous revenue stream? But that means the only things that would be, are short gratification drop box crap that would get boring after a few hours of playing without the cash grabs - so it does explain it to a degree I guess...
I just finished watching and I have two take aways.
1. If you want to win, you've got to collect resources FAST and basically ZERGRUSH.
2. In universe, this Orc Campaign would have been frightening to face.
The Warcraft Trilogy was the best and nothing can ever replace that experience
i just want a remaster of this, so much childhood nostalgia
Actually, what you see in this video is a remaster (released in 1999) :P
The original Warcraft II was a DOS game and lacked some of the features you see here (e.g. control groups). The cinematics were in much lower quality too.
@@AlexeiVoronin So what version number is the 1999 remastered version?
@@Isaac-gh5ku 2.00 (when installed from original CD)
They released one patch for this remastered version, which upgrades it to 2.02 (with some bugfixes).

The ruthless efficiency with which this is executed is both incredibly impressive and utterly disgusting.

7:19 I already love the Orc 2 theme but I've finally been able to experience it along with the gameplay and somehow it is even more incredible! The instrumentation, especially those timpani and oboes (I think?) add SO much to the atmosphere. Glenn Stafford did an amazing job on this.
This is one of my favorite games of all time.
I loved that you did the clicking thing to annoy the units.
The music is soooooo nostalgic........ the good old days...

It was quite funny how the ending showed that orc pretty much body slamming the knight off his horse and proceeded to bash in his face

The tides of darkness campaign shouldn't be too bad with the exception of the last few levels of each campaign, which can be pretty tough (the last level especially). Beyond the Dark Portal is another story though, those levels match in difficulty the hardest levels Blizzard has ever put out. That campaign is terrifying.
@@redwings13400 True. While ToD AI is passive most of the time, BtDP introduces us to a completely new level of difficulty. I always used an invincibility to roll thru - kill each and every peon/peasant and main structures, plundered all resources available and right before mission accomplishment I reloaded the game to avoid being accused of cheating.
Finally when I got to play thru BtDP campaigns without cheating, I had no idea, and you can guess, what I put myself into... 😄
i've gived a try to this, and i got stuck around the part at 53.40 minutes, you make it looks simple AF, but when I try it, I got some sort of huge rockets coming from no where everytime killing my forces! U legend!

My first true Blizzard game i played in 1998 and owned. StarCraft was the next one in 1999 along with Diablo II. Didnt own Diablo I until 2002 i think. Diablo I was my first experience of Blizzard games after seeing an old elementary classmate playing it in 1998/1999 on his PC. I didnt know it was Diablo I at the time until later on after i had already gotten WC2BNE. So many memories although i mostly played Diablo 2 and Starcraft in the 2000s on classic Battle.Net on USEast realm.
Best play through. Right to the action, no passive exploration crap. Good job 👍🏻
ohh when blizzard had a soul
The game series that made them rich!
In the Lore The Orcs almost succeeded in taking Lorderaeon. If it wasn't for Guldan it could have been a different story.
Yeah if it weren't for Gul'dan's betrayal the Orcs most CERTAINLY would've won the second war, heck they even managed to take out the leader of the Human Alliance, Anduin Lothar of Azeroth
I am 35 years old and sometimes I play WC2. These are my fond memories of childhood.
Canonically everything in the Orc campaign happened in the lore.
except the final mission, where the abscence of Gul'dan's troops spelled doom for the Horde's siege, aaaand they were also the main force defending southern Lordaeron. This led to the Human campaign, where Turalyon takes back southern Lordaeron and Khaz Modan, trapping the Horde in Quel'Thalas, where the Alliance won the war after the fall of Blackrock Spire.
Well, not really - this is a retcon. Originally, only several specific events from this campaign were canon, the rest was strictly non-canon. But then came the "Tides of Darkness" novel, which tried to make both campaigns canon (a bad decision, IMHO), which does cause a lot of contradictions in the story (e.g. was Told Barad successfully defended... or was it destroyed?).
Personally, I prefer the original situation, where only the Alliance campaign was fully canon. It made more sense.
@@AlexeiVoronin I don't remember where I heard it, but I think Tol Barad was rebuilt in secret according to the novels. It may just be something my mind made up, so I don't know for sure.
Without words watching this.. flood of nostalgia its depressing
Playing the campaign now. Its still so good.
Thanks for uploading this!
The soundtrack honestly back in 1995 when it came out was absolutely epic, and has aged so well. Having the option for CD or MIDI was great too - obviously the MIDI didn't sound as good but they still did a great job with it. Lots of nostalgia with this game :)
I feel like Ive been playing the game wrong all these years. 🤤
Watching the second mission saving the trolls made my memory of it a lie.. I remembered it as the map was way bigger than just run->save->run and I also thought there was way more trolls with different hair colors.
@@MrFasho123 There are more trolls than just Zuljin. Replayed it two years ago. This guy is doing a speedrun, so you won't see everything.
The time when I should be asleep but instead I played this instead.
Same!
The final Horde level was 10 times easier than the final Alliance level. As long as you have good defense at the base in the lower left corner, you'll win easily. The Alliance level.... dragons... dragons and more dragons...
Orc campaign overall was easier than the human. Makes sense I guess since Orc is meant to played first.
the best game ever... i still play it on regular basis.
Both campaigns are virtually identical up to and including scenario 5 after that they are very different
Orc campaign it's a little bit easier than Human campaign, many scenarios have a naval focus, so it goes something like "build up your base, once you are ready build your fleet, delete enemy fleet and then when enemy is decimated perform an amphibious operation with enough strengt to kill the enemy. Human AI never really challenge the build up except for the Quel'Thalas and Lordaeron scenarios but even those are not as hard, most people will win the campaign. Orc units are more ofensive by design, Bloodlust boost the attack but it last very little. The death knight unit is very limited due to Paladin's exorcism and Dragons can be boosted with "Haste" and "Bloodlust" but they do not last that much so at the end they are limited
Human campaign is harder, some scenarios are ment to be close call from scratch, against multiple active foes, but to be honest the only real challenge is the Dark Portal scenario. It is that much hard that i have only managed to win it once despite having played it many times. The Humans are more defensive, since Paladin's heal can save a lot of money in units but really need time to make a difference and exorcism isn't as propperly used by OP than by AI. Mages are way better unit than D.K. since they don't have a specific counter and they can move freely. Gryphon Riders can be healed which is a huge save of money compared to dragons
At the end of the day it is a fun game to try, War2Combat can be installed freely and there's even a small online community to play it against others but the skill level must be really high i guess
What a game creator Blizzard once was.
Best game ever. I still remember the cheat codes lol. It was bad ass for the times and it till holds up. Would make an awesome mobile game. I always played as orc.

I just watched the walkthrough of it and HOLY MOLY I can't believe the level of skill required to conquer this vile mission! I guess I could try to refine my skills in custom games but I don't know if I'll ever be good enough to beat the Orc campaign, let alone the Human one and also the Dark Portal expansion. I'll try studying this walkthrough I guess... *sigh*
