As a Filipino and a former IBMer, I agree that Indians are very technically proficient. As far as accent and vocabulary are concerned, I think Indians are more attuned to British English while Filipinos are more adjusted to American English.
Nailed it! And my husband easily recognized which country ITs from. He loves to talk with them telling them his wife is a Filipina and ended up passing his phone to me. 🤣
@Raechelle Boumenir that's true. Almost all of Indians would really sound Indians when they speak English, which is the exact opposite for Most Filipinos.
The weird English accent of lndians always reminds ppl of phone scams. If a company hires lndians for customer service or outsourcing, it would damage the company's image.
I deal / talk with Indian people 5 days a week as a Service Desk support. The things that can be resolved in 5 minutes with native speakers or even Europeans who speak English can take 30-45 minutes with an Indian caller. That is because they have a very thick accent that I cannot even picture what they are saying, and likewise, they do not understand my neutral accent (was trained to sound close to Americans long time ago). I literally have to slow down by 50% when asking questions because most of the time, they will pretend that they get you and end up saying something unrelated to your question.

I agree that indians have this vast tech knowledge. It is something that they know and can do even with their eyes closed. I have nothing but high praises to my indian trainors during my time in the bpo.
India churns out about a million and a half IT graduates every year, even if their employability is about 36%, that still number to hundreds of thousands of IT professionals. The Philippines only graduate about less than 50,000 a year. Even if their employability is higher than india, it amounts to only about 2 or 3 tens of thousands, so of course India will be the powerhouse.
Love his opinion I also agree! I am a Filipino call center agent, a software engineer student and I have respect for India for they are great in programming and technical abilities. :)
Im a Filipino but I think India right now is slowly moving a lot of there workforce to support there own country's booming economy. Filipinos are good with communication and indians are still the best when it comes to tech.
Thank you for acknowledging the Asian talent. i just hope none of the companies in the outsourcing industries are abusing those working for these BPOs--just because peole need jobs. Offer a rate that is fair and a workload that is manageable
True! I have previously worked from a company where the workload is really high, they're really pushing their employee to their limit in a bad way, of course we can do it, but having that workload everyday drains our energy ( physically and mentally ). 6 months later, I got tired and sick and looked for another job, and now I am happy 😀
In terms of wage rate, BPO employees have higher salary rate than private domestic companies. The BPO salary is comparable with the salary of those in the government service. However BPO companies have more chances or opportunities for promotion than those in the government. - Speaking from a person who was once worked in a BPO, then in a private company and now in a govt agency.
I manage an IT account here in PH. Our client decided to terminate their contract with an Indian company. The main reason is their productivity and attrition. It could be a one time case...true. But what I'm saying is that we can match up on development skills. I think Filipinos are pretty competitive. Their skills are no joke and best of all is their attitude.
Filipinos are very much competitive - even the technical and developmental aspects. If given the opportunity, we can give India a run for their money we it comes to technology.

I worked in a BPO company for a summer job. Based on my experience, BPO Companies in the Philippines are very competitive in terms of customer service.
I've worked in the IT business spending time on the phone with various people from different countries. If I have to generalize a bit, which isn't exactly bad.. but India have great talents for tech knowledge, but the Philippines has better phone and conversational skills than the ones in India. I have to say, I encounter way too many rude Indians from customer service and tech support. I usually end up getting really stressed just talking to them. So yeah, I think you can train Filipinos tech-wise, that is easy! And then you can get the best from their customer service skills since their hospitality is innate with them. So choose Philippines is my answer.
Correct! The culture of kindness is special to the Philippines. It's a "proud to help" kind of stewardship that you'll never find anywhere else. If you ever find a technically talented Filipino, DO NOT EVER let that shit go. XD

I remembered coming to my first day of training and the the very first thing our trainer said is "You are not here to learn or improved your English, you're here cause you know English", and there I was with my initial plan to improved my English (More on speaking). I was like " Oh man! Im doomed!" Hearing everyone talking in English with American accent some with Australian accent really scared me in a good way I worked hard and at the end of the training I was able to improved my confidence in speaking in English plus I got an American accent haha. But the training just nothing when you are in the floor already. Talking and solving issues in a foreign language and doing those technical stuff at the same time is very hard! trying to listen to the customer's frustrations and creating a report about his/her issue at the same time is just ahhh! After a month I decided to quit as my heart is really not there and I don't wanna go into depression - you know there are lots of rude and cruel customers out there and I'm I guess im still naive back then that I couldn't take profanity not personal, im too sensitive. I'm now working in Dubai and had some encounters talking to a Customer Service Representative over the Phone and whenever I raised some concerns I couldn't feel any care, empathy, or eagerness from them to help you. They will just give you a "by the manual book" answer, cold, sometimes they even fight with you. Very far from the Philippines' Customer Service where the main goal is to solve the issue and satisfy your customer over the phone. I salute all my kababayans in the BPO industry. you guys are all rockstars!
This is so true. The Philippines is highly westernised. Im a Filipino who went to Malaysia for a few weeks and I missed my westernised country so much. I really appreciated my country. Also, customer service skills, the smile, pleasant personalities of people working in customer service...The Philippines excels in these based on my experience. Also, Filipinos love working in a culturally diverse environment and encountering people from other countries. Even before Spanish colonisation, we had amazing trade with China, India, Middle East and other Southeast Asian countries....so it's kind of in our blood. We just love intercultural interactions because we love to know more about the world. In other countries, sometimes the people are ethnocentric.

As a Filipino and a former IBMer, I agree that Indians are very technically proficient. As far as accent and vocabulary are concerned, I think Indians are more attuned to British English while Filipinos are more adjusted to American English.
Exactly, I was about to say same.

India and Philippines complement each other in terms of BPO. Once, we are rivals but now I guess we are more of a partner.
I agree
@Truth Seeker Thank you so much ☺️
Yeah. Totally agree

Im a Filipino but I think India right now is slowly moving a lot of there workforce to support there own country's booming economy. Filipinos are good with communication and indians are still the best when it comes to tech.
Difference is only , we are planning things , considering, China is our rival
Not in terms military but in the others parts too
Thank you for acknowledging the Asian talent. i just hope none of the companies in the outsourcing industries are abusing those working for these BPOs--just because peole need jobs.

You can teach or train people about product knowledge but AN ATTITUDE 101 LESSON MEANS MIRACLE FROM GOD!
Correct! The culture of kindness is special to the Philippines. It's a "proud to help" kind of stewardship that you'll never find anywhere else. If you ever find a technically talented Filipino, DO NOT EVER let that shit go. XD

When I was a fresh grad. I tried BPO or call center and I passed.
I'm in the BPO industry too! But we call Indian Reps for tech support whenever there's problem with our system or applications being used.
What is exactly means that Filipinos are highly westernized? What are the things they have in the west that is not in the east? In this computer age, is there is still difference between the east and west?

I too can wear different hats but I only have one. Joking aside, it’s true that we can do a lot of things and with great precision. I once worked as a chemist in a clothing factory mixing colors to dye a certain fabric, on the same factory, I also worked as a maintenance engineer maintaining and fixing very large machines for making thread and weaving fabric. I worked as a sales manager with people under me, a legal researcher at one time, built, troubleshoot and repaired PCs in the late 90s (now still on the side), practiced my nursing profession at some point. I guess given the challenge, Filipinos can do anything under the sun.
