I don't think you've monetized this enough. Advertisements seem to only interrupt every 2 minutes or so. Imagine how much you could make if they were every 20 seconds! Think about it.
Snorkel was a useful upgrade but not perfect because if seas were really rough they would still have to surface For oxygen and recharge batteries. And would still be visible to aircraft during the day time. It would’ve been best to only run the snorkel at night time. And only run electric submerged during the day. But then your speed and range are limited. Everything was a gamble. It must have been terrifying. Took skilled captains and crews to even make it back to port in those days.
@@konekillerking They knew it was crazy to try to fight without one. They had a tiny chance if they were in open waters like the Atlantic but in the channel forget it. The screening vessels and air cover for the fleet made it a lost cause.
Interesting/informative/entertaining.. Excellent photography picture 📷of the U-Boat & crew. Snorkel or not the odds of stopping the allied invasion. Were slim to none/ there weren't enough U-Boats to do enough damage to stop the invasion. Admiral doughnuts 🍩 & his disillusioned/ incompetent bureaucratic confusion. From the other disillusioned/incompetent leadership in Berlin. Was a miscalculated error in using those " disposable U-Boats. But why not -??? Dozens of U-Boats entered " King 👑 Neptune territory😇😇😇😇.
If they only realized their messages to/from Donitz had been their death warrants. To ram the invasion fleet was ludicrous. You would think even the most ardent commander, would think of the lives of their crew and surrender.
Pretty grim stuff. Fighting on in an obsolete sub, on a hopeless mission, under incompetent, uncaring higher command and despite what his government had done to his own father. Talented but still blindly committed to the Nazi ethos. I have no sympathy for him.
What Nazi ethos? It is called military discipline, civilian! You are part of a network of actions about which you do not know anything. Personal Judgement under such circumstances has to be suspended. Understand?
The snorkel was easily visible on radar. There were constant patrols all over the Eastern Atlantic, and especially around the English channel. no submarine could get anywhere near the invasion. Radar equipped aircraft made every diesel electric submarine a deathtrap.

Thanks for this series.
What a way to live and pass.
This was amazing to watch!
This is a fascinating story! The author of the journal is such a good writer that it reads (sounds) like literature...
The British at that stage already had a radar that could pick up a snorkel.
I guess the snorkel would reduce the detection range substantially?
This is true. It was harder to detect but could still be picked up on allied radar. But I’ve heard they had anti radar coating for some of them.
It was suicide to attack the invasion fleet without a Snorkel. It was crazy to even get near the fleet.
Would have been with a Snorkel. Subs might have had some success, but survival wouldn’t have been an option.

One of the best robot voices I have heard. Still doesn't cut it though.
Wonder how the surviving men did after the war both
Mentally and physically.🤔😟
If they only realized their messages to/from Donitz had been their death warrants.

So you are rooting for the Nazis?

Maybe you could cram some more adds in here ? Ridiculous ambush advertising always makes me resentful of whatever crap their selling.
blame youtube, not the content creator.
I'm kidding and that was in reference 2 the ads I totally agree makes me 😖😫😵
40:13what ever else you can say about these men they had nerves of steel
I wonder if sailing to Portsmouth and raising a white flag was even possible?
A few months later they had to endure their comrads suffer fatal punishment for tempting to flee
If he had a snorkel.he could have stopped the invasion by himself.
In the channel against the destroyer and corvette fleet of the RN and RCN? You must have an impressive video game history.
He could have also strapped extra torpedoes to the sides of the boat to be used to reload again and again until he ran out of targets.
