About Hagia Sophia:
Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom) is a religious building that was first built as a church in the European side of Istanbul, Turkey.
The present building, now a mosque, was the third church building on the site. The third Hagia Sophia was built between 532 and 537, as the cathedral of Constantinople, the capital city of the Roman Empire in Late Antiquity. The Roman emperor Justinian the Great ordered the construction. The architects were Anthemius of Tralles and Isidore of Miletus.
It was used as an Eastern Orthodox cathedral until 1453, except when it was the Roman Catholic cathedral between 1204 and 1261. The Ottoman sultan and caliph Mehmed the Conqueror converted Hagia Sophia into a mosque in 1453 after the Fall of Constantinople.
It became a museum in 1935 after the decision of the secularist Turkish government under Kemal Atatürk in 1934. In July 2020, the Islamist Turkish government under Tayyip Erdoğan ordered the Hagia Sophia to be turned back into a mosque following a supreme court annulment of a 1934 presidential decree that made it a museum.
In the game's setting, in the year 1510, the Janissary Murat Bin Husn concealed the armor of Ishak Pasha inside the Hagia Sophia. The following year, Ezio Auditore da Firenze recovered Ishak Pasha's scattered memoirs and entered the mosque. Around the same time, while looking for the second Masyaf Key, Ezio climbed one of the Hagia Sophia's minarets.

About the game:
Assassin's Creed: Revelations is a 2011 action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is the fourth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, and a direct sequel to 2010's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. The game was released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows in November and December 2011.
The plot is set in a fictional history of real-world events and follows the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control.
The framing story is set in the 21st century and features the series protagonist Desmond Miles who, with the aid of a machine known as the Animus, relives the memories of his Assassin ancestors to find a way to avert the 2012 apocalypse.
The main story follows Ezio Auditore da Firenze (the protagonist of Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood) in 16th century Constantinople as he attempts to unlock the secret vault of Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad (the protagonist of the first game) using disc-like artifacts containing the latter's memories. Altaïr is also playable in flashback sequences set in 12th and 13th century Masyaf set both before and after the events of the first game.

0:43 That's exactly the same theme playing in the background when you first arrive in Jerusalem in Assassin's Creed 1.
What an amazing architecture and climb!
What a beautiful place and thank you so much for this video
It was great, indeed. Thanks!
I just visited today, ubisoft did such a good job of replicating it
The Hagia Sophia is my favourite Building in Assassins Creed Revelations!!! 🤗👍🥳
What A Nice Vidéo Man Love It So Much 🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️ And Please do Topkapi Palace Tour in Assassin s 'Creed revelation 😁🙏🏻
I got to pray Friday prayers here when I visited last summer
I visited istanbul in 2020 and did my friday prayer at Sultan Ahmet mosque right near, unfortunately Hagia Sophia was not a Camii
The fact that the mihrab is facing mecca conincidentally is unbelievable
It's unbelievable because it's not true. The Mihrab in this version isn't in the same location that it is in real life. In real life, it's not centered with the Church's Apse, rather it's slightly off to one side.
@@Drakelx55 really? Alr should’ve done my research
The "Corridor" at 0:46 is the outer of the two Narthexes, or Vestibules, which are indeed accurate to the actual Hagia Sophia. at 2:14, the railings are potentially accurate (it's called a Müezzin Mahfili, and its where religious leaders or important people in society would gather during prayer time). There are several such railed-off areas still present today in Hagia Sophia. The only 3 for-a-fact historical inaccuracies that I notice, given that this takes place in 1511, are: The wooden minaret on the southwestern tower next to the western half-dome is missing (it would have still been extant in 1511). The Mihrap (islamic prayer niche indicating the direction towards Mekke) is in the wrong position. The floor was covered in carpets in 1498, so I shouldn't be seeing any marble (unfortunately for me as an Orthodox Christian) in a rendering to 1511. Lastly, and of course, there was no mechanism to slide a portion of the floor away to reveal any sort of cistern you could jump into from within the Nave xd:)
That sounds interesting! I would like to know why it was shown as empty and with renovations going on. Was it not used as a mosque in 1511 or is just no one inside at the moment? :)
@elisabethjacobsohn8131 hi! apparently, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake happened in Constantinople in September 1509. the developers probably noted this, which was why Hagia Sophia seems to have been closed for repairs in the game's 1511 AD time period :)
the devs probably did their best to make locations as historically accurate as possible, so I guess this was what happened. :)
@@KatzenwagenTV oh thank you for the fast response, that makes sense :)
its greek not that dog religion
weren't the paintings with the virgin and child Jesus covered during it's time as a mosque?
apparently, it was only during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent (1520-1566) when the Orthodox icons were plastered over, according to some history articles
The most weird thing about the Haghia Sophia in A revelations is that it looks unfinished or being reworked
Which is weird cause at that time it wasn't in that state
I wonder if they're assuming (or maybe found a nugget of data) stating that the Hagia Sophia was being repaired after a recent earthquake? or maybe a delayed repair process after an earthquake several years prior? all that I was able to find was a rough statement in articles that Hagia Sophia underwent multiple earthquake damage repairs during all the eras it's been through (Byzanite, Latin, Ottoman), but no specific time period which might coincide with AC Revelations 😄
@@KatzenwagenTV my god I can't believe you answered, love your videos man, keep them up!
You really remind me of another guy who did similar videos but in gta, analysing the cities and stuff
@@martinjugolin2087 Thank you so much, my friend! Oh yeah I think I’ve watched that GTA analytical youtuber you’re mentioning. Those people have waaaaaaay better quality of videos than mine though 😹😹😹😹😹😹
I wonder why they showed it as an empty building. Just for the sake of the game or was it really not in use in 1511?
11:45 what button did you press ? I cant get pass this jump . I always fall .
As a historical building, it's really a shame that the Hagia Sophia has been turned into a religious building again. I personally think it should be neither a mosque nor a church, it is one of the last remnants of an empire long gone and should be available to people of all places to see without restrictions related to religion.
The restrictions are fair. Turkey is a Muslim country and they needed another large mosque to accommodate the people who would usually just pray on the street. Non Muslims are free to enter unless it is prayer time which again is completely fair. It’s not our country and we have no right to tell them what to do, just as they don’t to us.
@@XtremeSk8ter Its still a museum as far as ive seen
It should be a Christian orthodox church (preferably) or a museum. The fact that they made it a mosque is simply to spit on Christians
I was there in March. Going in wasn’t that big a deal beyond my wife having to cover her hair. I respect the culture and their country.
Why not make the Pantheon a museum then
I try to find one inside the Holy Sepulcher xD 😁❤
Can you access this after you finish the game in freeroam?
sorry for the late reply. the way youtube loads comments is a bit very problematic. :D to answer your question, sadly nope. I had to find a savegame from the internet where the mini-mission involving Hagia Sophia still hasn't been done. it was also a bit tricky to locate where the savegame file location is on my pc 😹 but afterwards it was sooo worth the effort 😻
Glory to Christianity !!!!!!! Amen !!!!!!! 🕊🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻🕊
Its à mosque

@@moha3931it shouldn't be it was made to be a church
@@ippokratismargiouklas2791 Yet Islam respected that enough to not destroy it and build a new mosque on the ground it would have been nothing but rubble upon, but rather preserve the architecture and convert it into a masjid.
I went to this place but i can't go inside in, do you know what should i do?
Which ACR edition do you have? The standard one?
@@solidsnake4200 i have the ezio collection one but i figured it out! i had to find the all Ishak Pasha Pages to go inside the Hagia Sophia
@@kerem1294 I have also the Ezio collection and I was about to tell you about the Ishak Pasha pages which you have to collect. I’ve also had the standard edition for the ps3 and I remember that I couldn’t access the building. I can play the Ezio trilogy over and over again 😂 truly a masterpiece
