I have a female bismark palm tree, and now I've got young ones springing up beneath the tree. They seem to have tap roots. How do I get them up safely to put in pots?
Are the seeds automatically viable if they are the proper size? There is a lone bismarck near my house that a few big seeds on it among hundereds of small ones
Is it better to pick fresh seed off the tree or look for seed that has fallen off? I found some seed in Bermuda and can see there is male tree near by so it looks to be good. I picked the largest seeds off the tree, they are about the size of a golf ball. But the seeds are quite firm (& green). So I was a little worried I may have picked them too early? There were no seeds on the ground as it is mowed regularily.
Not sure if my Bismarckia is M or F but it produces seed, not as many as the one you showed, but what seeds it does produce are large. I don't know of any other ones in the area so would these not be viable? Also my Foxtail is now producing seed and I'd love to know how to propagate it.
Couldn't find your email so I am hoping you see this post. I, too, live in S. Florida and have a female Silver Bismark in my area that is loaded with seeds. At this point they are no longer green and 'look' ready to be germinated. However, I do not know if they should be allowed to fall to the ground first or is it OK to pick them from the tree. thanks
Do any seedlings come out? How do we distinguish between female and male when purchasing? For breeding purposes because its price is very high Most importantly, Does she resist high temperatures I live in the east in Iraq of 49 degrees or more?
Ok. So what do I do if I find a truly viable seed? Do you have another video that would help guide me a little bit I have my Bismarck in my front that's been in there for seven years. I have tons of France because I do not cut the bottom ones until they are completely spent. And considering what I paid for it I would love to find a viable seed somehow somewhere. The male will have a smaller in fluorescence than the female. Usually the female will already have small seeds developing on the stalk. The female also has more orders of branching I believe.
@@TheCfkingfish i dont understand, do you mean lighter in florescence , i have 5 year old Bismarckia trees but they are in 25 gallon barrels and i see no sign of stalks, so i am curious if there is any other idicating factor to determine f they are male of female
@@christopheryajeev7835 it's going to be a long time until those Palms produce any flowers. There should be some Google images or I may do a video on it.

Sometimes the unfertilized seeds can grow to full size. If the plant is all alone I would imagine they are not fertile.
@@TheCfkingfish ah I see. Thanks for the response. Might still give it a shot

If they fall off by tapping it with no effort they are perfect for germination
He’s back!

It sounds like yours is female if it's producing seeds. I have a video on foxtail germination if you want to search for it.
Do you only harvest the seeds when they are brown on the outside or can they still be green? Thank you.
Wait until they are starting to turn brown.
Do you only use the seed that falls on the ground or do you harvest a bunch from the tree?
It is easier to wait for it to fall in a pile on the ground.
Hello Christian, I am glad you are back!
Thanks for the cool.video. Really interesting. 👍
👍 welcome back

how do you tell the difference between a male and female Bismarck tree?
