    amen brother to more people not growing plants, or more plants in their yards. i live in south florida and it truly astonishes me the amount of empty yards i see. no landscaping or plants. what a sad thing to waste. these people do not even have a CLUE of what what we can grow here. some of the most beautiful things youve ever seen. the sky is practically the limit. i realize its not always cheap, but it doesnt have to be expensive either, if done right. id rather live in a crackerjack box and have an epic yard, than a large house with no vegitation. for those that dont necessarily care about plants, they should keep in mind that, if nothing else, plants add property value to your home.

      my neighbor in Hilo has paved his entire yard in asphalt. I have the most incredible heliconias, palms, aroids etc and all he cares about is going clubbing or watching tv.

      Dude I can’t agree more 👍🏼 trust me if you see Saudi Arabia and our neighborhoods you’d be in shock. People don’t care at all about vegetation even though we’re the one who need trees and plants the most due to living on a desert. I really consider moving to the states because you guys are all about planting and landscaping which’s a lot like me and want to be in a place like that. Keep that up 👏🏼

    Our house here in south Florida has a tropical little biome on the front yard is crazy how Florida’s weather is perfect for almost any type of tropical vegetation that can’t grow anywhere else in the country

    Thanks for the video, I appreciate your channel. Speaking of Home Depot, what palms do you find in Home Depot or Lowes down there in Florida? I'm in the PNW and here it's mostly Trachycarpus, Washingtonias for outdoors with an occasional Butia if you're really lucky and the stars align. For "Indoor" it's Dypsis lutescens, Ravenea's, Parlor palms, Cat palms, and sometimes Caryota urens.

    • @TheCfkingfish
      @TheCfkingfish  3 роки тому

      Ravenea, Coconuts, Royals, Queens and Bottles mostly.

    Foxtail and Royal are from Australia there is an Australian Fan Palm as well as the Chinese one. There is alot of Ancient remnant rainforests along the east coastal parts of Australia where these palms survive in small pockets in the wild. Thère are many many palm speciecs native here that are veey popular landscape specimens.

    I'd wander around looking for seeds as there seems to be quite the variety compared to around me locally in Phoenix.

      Bob Hopfner Phoenix has a lot of palm trees. Los Angeles has way more tho. And also New Orelans and South Florida LA and Phoenix are the homes of palm trees in the United States.

    I am one of the only yards around that I know of that has the palms I do. I am aware that it will be hard to grow them at times being that many of them are south Florida palms and I live in St. Augustine but its my hobby an I just can't resist. I'm determined to make them all work and if I loose some on the way well then I'll just have to get more.

      WildTropics I would love to get a royal palm or king palm and a Christmas palm. I'm in Jacksonville and was told it's probably a bad idea.. how are your palms doing?

    That coconut palm at 8:35 looks like a tall variety. Possibly even a Maypan. It would be great to do a video on different coconut cultivars. Either way, love your videos.

    I love Palm trees. There in my top 3 reasons why I plan to move to Florida. They look so much cooler than your normal tree and look a lot nicer when they're lined up alongside the road. Too bad they can't really grow in Indiana like they do in Florida.

    Florida is the worst place to grow tropical palms. The coconut palms for example just look sad. I guess poor soil and borderline environment. I guess the other part is lack of water. Eighty inches a rain a year is like half of what they get it say a place like Philippines.

      By the water you may have luck. Any freezing nights though and they will burn. I've seen them in St Pete and that's about it North of Bradenton. It's just cold enough they don't make it it.
