saw this vid late one night in 84 at age 12-13. Eventually got all their albums. Still in playlist. A bit punk, some rock and ballads. A very different breed of band.
I bought them at Camelot music because I thought his hair is pretty cool I was into punk rock fashion and have loved the band ever since the first time I heard this song The night is calling
New Stiv when he lived in nyc, l asked him what Stiv meant, he said Steve. I asked about his sur name, he said he was of Hungarian descent. Sorely missed
Yes he did. 1990 in paris walking home intoxicated he was struck bay a taxi was taken to a hospital waited two hours and walked home and died in his sleep. Apperenly from a concussion.

If there's a more iconic image in punk/ new wave than Stiv Bators surfing atop a hearse through a castle gate at the end of this video, I don't know what is!
I'd probably go with Wendy O. Williams in her regalia, riding a bus rigged with explosives in the desert through a wall of television sets slightly more memorable than Stiv on a hearse but I love it just the same. Both were gone too soon.
+JeanGenie127 Not sure VH1 existed then, but even MTV .... out in the sticks (pre-cable), a shitty, throwaway station out of Atlanta brought this to me. Opened a new world for me.
Stiv had been clean and got knocked over getting the milk n papers. He went to bed and died of internal bleeding. His body couldn't take it ! I remember bein with Dave Vanian at a Phantom Chords gig when I heard the news !
actually, the seventies and eighties back issues of rolling stone often contained good interviews. haven't read the magazine in about twenty years or so.
To all rock and punk fans out there.Get those 3 main essential cds from ''Lords of the New Church'',and then dig further for the history by getting the first ''DEAD BOYS'' cd.Bury that ''ROLLING STONE'',magazine you got in your room. There not gonna educate you on ''real talent or music.''Get more value for your money.
Me remonto a aquellos años y veo una mezcla del video de los U2 y los Rolling jjajajjajjaa Pero tan cojonudos como los Rolling jajjajja open your eyes, imprerecedera.
No argument on that Jon.That was when they cared about what great stuff was out there. They threw all that creative content out the window, trust me.The magazine is all fluff commercial nonsense in 2013.You have SHINDIG,MOJO,UNCUT,UGLY THINGS,RADAR,and too many mags right here that will bring you up to speed for what you really want.Great Rock and Punk classic material.
Ha,ha.I don't .I had my you tube put up by a friend of mine.I just go by my you tube ''DAVID RADICALS CINEMA ART'',and let my material do all the talking for me.
That man was one of the firsts to start a new era back in the day. His face is beauty, his words are thought provoking for the time. He's a Dead Boy forever!
Brian still has that Damned style guitar solo, I noticed..still using the same solo's he did w/the Damned..which is good, but, predictable..I was listening to the Lords, before I discovered the Damned..I was a mid-80's punk, so it took time to rediscover all the hoo-ha from the late 70's..
Can't believe how Stiv got it wrong and allowed the musicians around him to do over-produced filler tracks like this as singles. He deserved better than this third rate Damned crap
Steve Bator sold out to the music industry! He started as a punk-rocker with the Dead Boys and ended up doing this bullshit... The Lords of the New Church were a hybrid new wave/goth/hard rock band and never played anything good!
+Eduardo Rodriguez That dude is a jackass. Steve, lmfao. L.O.T.N.C. were fucking great band! Just because Stiv grew and his style progressed doesn't mean that he sold out to the industry. Most all of the original "punk" musicians changed and grew and evolved. Who wants to be so limited and stuck doing the same exact thing forever?

Great band.RIP Stiv. Opened for them, Stiv was cool, gave me a bottle of white tequila, said we were a great band.

Stiv car-surfing in the video. Legendary. 😻😻
Can't help thinking of the 80s movie Weird Science where the song was playing in the background. ;-)
Great Album.
Saw them multiple times. Great band.

Absolute classic tune - love the Lords!
Method to the madness....many methods in this world. But the song is great ! Like it still.
this is one of the best of lords of the new church. thank you for this on. r i p stiv.
Great album....some cool songs, I liked the direction they were going until it had to end!
Cool jam!
This song reminds me of a girl I went to high school with... circa 1985 give or take. Joyce, I wish I had taken a chance!
One of my BEST...("Real Immortal Punk")...there's a MESSAGE in this Madness...

Martin Abrahams made this video
Stiv's friend!
yes it is Miles Copeland
Love the big ol herpe sore on Stiv's upper lip. Wild Boyz.
Not herpes. He used to have a big mole there and got most of it removed. You can see it in older videos. He doesn't have it in Dance With Me.
I was getting, more, the 'Dandy' 'Incroyables" vibe.
Quel putain de groupe putain ! Ces refrains de oufs à chaque fois, putain! Qu'est-ce qui'on peut-dire d'autre ! Putain !
well urr this is han-han urr han-han, That's Cool urr cool !!

Los señores de la nueva iglesia eran una bandota, lastima de la prematura muerte de Stiv Bators.
Did Stiv Bators get run over and killed?
Yes. Paris 1990. He went to the hospital. Waited for two hours went home and died in his sleep.
Brian on his tele was the shit

Thanks weird science.
Stiv said :Fuck art, Lets rock" But he covered both.
He had a deformity on his lip
@LondonFetishFair Alright now i'm jealous
Real musicians evolve and welcome change why should he mask his art and be pigionholed for the sake of not selling out as people say
The guitar solo in this is pretty much the same as the solo Brian James plays on 'Neat Neat Neat'!
Always great to make a video looking like a corpse
Ha,ha.I don't .I had my you tube put up by a friend of mine.I just go by my you tube ''DAVID RADICALS CINEMA ART'',and let my material do all the talking for me.
yeah ... Now who is the copycat?
the nerve of that kid taking that face on stage!
That man was one of the firsts to start a new era back in the day. His face is beauty, his words are thought provoking for the time. He's a Dead Boy forever!

no they don't!! Just similar hair!

It's a pretty good song and everything, but couldn't that guy have waited for his herpes sore to go in remission. Yikes. That's hard to look at.
LOTNC at their worst,
love Stiv but JT was MUCH better looking
