      Always regarded my cameras as equipment that literally makes me money. Therefore money invested in it is different to money that just vanishes after going out a few times.
      Great video! That's a crazy amount of storage. Most of the time I am still stumbling around with regular external hard drives.

    Nice video, I offer the same solution to customers using offsite storage , backup, DR etc across 2 locations in Ireland, Mine runs on Synology kit but I think very little difference in technology as they seem to be neck and neck with Q-Nap.

    With setting up a NAS for the first time what do you recommend for a storage capacity? I have a 4 month year old niece, and my parents are taking up tons of space for videos and pictures and stuff like that that I thought of setting up a NAS so they can store all that and view all of that whenever they wanted and its easy to store because at the moment they use external drives that connect to their phone to store all that stuff but I figured one centralized spot with a wireless connection for a cloud based better than what they're doing but I haven't a clue on how or where to start with all that

    Hi Adam, cool and interesting video. But have you looked at a public cloud provider like AWS to provide customer backups and business continuity? Sounds like a lot of work and time you need to spend to keep this running and up-to-date while you can host/manage this within AWS with alot less work and effort.

    • @MrThaibox123
      @MrThaibox123  4 роки тому +1

      It’s too complex to go into but doesn’t work unfortunately in the way that’s required. I use AWS and azure all day. But there are situations it’s not suitable for.

    • @Indravd

      @@MrThaibox123 True it is complex but there are alot of solutions that can help with this for a good price and less hassle. If you ever want to have a look at it again. I work at a AWS Consulting Partner if you have any questions related to AWS I'm happy to help (personally).

    • @keirdavis3168
      @keirdavis3168 4 роки тому +2

      @@MrThaibox123 No it's not. If you have a file on one drive, you have a throughput of the read speed of a drive.
      With RAID, that file is duplicated essentially on multiple drives. You then have the combined read speed from the drives as it's going to allow the different segments to be read from more than 1 drive
      It's more performant to use raid than not to, if you do it right.

    • @wapted
      @wapted 4 роки тому +1

      The new RAID negative0 is faster again. It uses the readspeeds combined with the write speeds for super high read and write speeds. Very clever technology.
